  • in 1:50 they are passing a cigarette at the back

  • Good night Youtubers!!!! :) ZZZZzzzzzz

  • im the only one that looks amazing Ringo's voice?

  • At 1:50 it sounds like the song Julia!

  • Lord! Is that a human voice or a theremin at the beginning?

  • @BilisNegra I could be wrong, but I assume that's someone playing a "singing saw."

  • George Martin. The fifth Beatle. Big influence on the classical instrumentation. Plays instruments on a number of Beatle tracks.

  • John tenia un puente dental en los molares del lado izquierdo superior. Seguramente tambien en el izquierdo superior. ver 1:05

  • I love this. I really like listening to the slow songs. Good night is beautiful and fascinating. It is the only Beatles song I know where Ringo sings this slowly. He did a very good job, and his voice sounds so nice and lovely. The images were great. I would like to see more footage related to the White Album. O_O The Beatles are soooo beautiful.

  • Does anybody think this song should be in a Disney movie ?

  • I love Ringo. Last Summer, I, a shy 18 years old girl, was brave enough to go to a festival on my own to go see Ringo live, because no one wanted to go with me. (Can you imagine?!) I still don't regret that at all and I also bought an awesome Ringo t-shirt.

  • this song helps tuck you in after listening to the horrifying revolution 9.

  • @jmj540 Yes, maybe..

But also, sometimes it scares me more..

The fact that it's after revolution 9..

It's like : "you listened to revolution 9, now go to sleep, sweet nightmares honey"

  • @jaSama02 That was really funny. I would prefer to listen to it after something more lovely like "I Will" and "Julia".

  • It's real sad just cuz it gives you that nostalgic feeling, it makes you remember your childhood, how good it was and the love you just can't recreate. Ringo did a great job, I love you.

  • this song gives me such a warm fuzzy feeling

  • I'm 22 & I grew up with this song! Granted a woman did a cover for it and it was on a cassette tape but it was my favorite song and it put me to sleep.. I love it so much and now knowing one of my favorite musician's sings it... I'm in heaven! :D

  • i am a 14 years and i love beatles :D

  • so sad.....

  • I love how someone edits together a montage of various film clips and pictures from the White Album sessions, adds this song and calls it a "RARE VIDEO", lol! Regardless, it's beautiful and The Beatles are the greatest band to ever grace this Earth!!

  • I am not sure if something like this can be worked into a coffeehouse song as an evening closer. On Anthology you can here John doing guitar on it but even at that stage Ritchie was singing it.

  • this is just beautiful! the Beatles were so talented , they sang, they wrote music, they played many instruments, and did many varieties of music.

  • Disney should have used this soundtrack for the movie 'Tangled'!

  • I love how versatile and ever changing the Beatles were. They were magic to music for future musicians and music lovers everywhere. I Love when Ringo sings as well!

  • The transition from the chaotic "Revolution 9" to the light and easy "Good Night" in the White Album -- both Lennon´s music -- have similarities with the end of Wagner´s "Götterdämmerung" . It´s marvellous.

  • Makes me at ease so much that I do fall asleep...zzzz

  • the beatles the templet for all true rock band of all genre

  • Actually Ringo was responding to an autograph collector who would sell the signatures he received from celebrities.

  • @scatmansmooth I'm as big an admirer of Liverpool as any Liverpudlian out there but Ringo never said Liverpool was a dump. He merely said he had no desire to return to the city. Which is not the answer people wanted to hear from him but it's better than him lying through his teeth isn't it. Honest Ringo.

Fuck anyone who says otherwise but RINGO RULES!

  • I use this song as my "sign off" song a lot of times to say g'nite to all my family & friends there..

  • im doing as u know i always am as u always r and i guess its always going to be... goodnight stranger in my life

  • Goodnight dannydutchboy2011. I do hope you are ok & feeling better <3

  • beautiful song <3

  • @ForTheBeatles4 ME TOO!!!

  • My Dad used to sing this to me when I was a little girl. I had forgotten about it until just now.

  • I play this song every night, before going to sleep:)

  • This song is truely remarkable to me, I love Ringo and all the other Beatles John, Paul, and George, music's different today.

  • Lindo vídeo com uma de minhas prediletas canções dos Beatles. Faz parte do mais misterioso disco do conjunto o Album Branco. Emociona.

Beautiful video with one of my favorite Beatles songs. Part of the more mysterious the whole disc White Album. Thrills.

  • I really want to hear John singing this. Paul said he sang it so beautifully and tenderly when teaching it to Ringo, and it's one of his favourite memories of John.

  • you have to judge this song within it's context. It was positioned on the White Album as the antidote to Revolution 9. John was sending the message that despite all the shite that had been heaped upon him he was still a human being

  • @DavidH373 Dragonforce? Really? Technical ability? They can'teven do their shit live. In their recordings, the fastforward shit so they would sound fast. You don't know shit.

  • Bona niiit!!! :PP

  • I really love this song, it's absolutely beautiful, but there's just something about the whispering at the end that creeps me out.

  • This is my new favorite Beatles song.

  • @raintalonwindclan You know, I know a few people that cite Good Night as their favorite Beatles' song too. Comments on this and other sites suggest many others feel the same. Good Night is a sweet, gentle, little song sung by a very likable person. Still, Good Night is perhaps one of the Beatles' most obscure tracks. It is even more unique in that Ringo is the only Beatle prominently featured on the released version (I think John's guitar is still present, though not very audible).

  • First time hearing this. Googled good night. This is something I can sleep on! Have a blessed one folks :-DDDD

  • Why people say that George and John sings this song but I think it's Ringo

  • @VictorRokeiro nobody say it's G & J. It's Ringo

  • @VictorRokeiro I don't know why anyone would think this was any Beatle other than Ringo (and certainly not John or George). John's song but Ringo did a fine job with the vocal. John and Ringo seemed to have a great friendship. I think Ringo was the only one that could cut through all the bull surrounding John and talk sense to him. George had his period of closness to John, as well as Paul, but Ringo stayed a great friend.

  • @redletter2008 Hey man thanks for the reply =D

  • There's actually drugs being passed around in the video haha

  • This sounds like a song from a Disney film :)

  • @MichaelLawlorRojas yeah i thought this too hahaha

  • This song is truly beautiful.

  • wonderfull video and wonderfull song!!!!!

  • This beautiful, melodic song, following right after Revolution 9....... lol

  • @evsponge1 hello dude.........that bad a s s gossip from their '65 visit to los angeles that you wanted....someone has posted it on "australian army recruitment ad rmc auzzzie". just press "see all" to find the 3 hidden comments. hope this is what you were after. regards.

  • sort of timeless...

  • I first heard this song a couple months ago. I didn't know it even existed. It is such a beautiful song, and Ringo sings it perfectly.

  • I don't know why but the melody of this song reminds me of my friend who lives very far from me. I cry everytime I hear this song :(

  • This song has made me cry many times. It reminds me of everything good in this world. Like Mother tucking me in when I was a child.

  • I love Ringo but I wish I could hear when john sang it for them when he had first wrote it. I heard he sang with such sweet emotion but didn't want to be seen as a softy or something so he had Ringo sing it. Beautiful song though.

  • Something sweet from a gentler era.

  • I am a 34 year old Dad. Sometimes my 10 month year old baby wakes me up in the middle of the night. I sing this song to him slowly and he falls asleep everytime :)

  • @madogmgd 10 month year old ?? dont make sence lol x

  • @EMILYLEAH100 what's not to get?

  • @Piscesryche the baby is either 10 years or 10 months sorry i just like correcting people .

  • @madogmgd That's so cute :) I hope I can sing it to my babies one day <3

  • @MoNyOh You will :)

  • @madogmgd aww so sweet

  • @madogmgd works on 13 year olds too, whenever i can't get to sleep i listen to this and it works everytime! :D only problem is i have to be quick about stopping it cuz the next song is Helter Skelter :P

  • @1KevinsFamousChili1

    hahah. I love helter skelter!

  • this guy is one of the the most under-rated and under-appreciated musicians I've come across. his talent is enormous and so very versatile, on top of being a human back-beat box. LOVE to you, man

  • @1959billyshears ...what?

  • good night sheriff lobo

  • My nephew met Ringo in a little store in London, had a nice chat, got an autograph, and he couldn't have been more pleasant and gracious.

  • Goodnight john paul george n ringo... oh and my beautiful x tina to X <3 O <3 X

  • Goodnight Danny <3 ;)

  • if you read the book John by cynthia lennon (actually dont because its very depressing and you will loose A LOT of respect for john lennon) he wrote this song for julian after he divorced cynthia.

  • This is such a beautiful song!

  • Great group!

    Thank you!

  • One of John's BEST 8-) LM

  • Very, very good Beatles" song. Strange is not famous !!

  • it's a very great song, but if you want to sleep it's gettin' scary...

  • thanks Richar starkey, you are a jewel. I'll take this to my grave as one of my favorites

  • John wrote this but did not want to sing it, he felt it was not his image...but Paul said in his book John sang it beautifully too...

  • incrivelmente maravilhoso!

  • Absolutely beautiful Ringo<3

  • This song is perfect, that's why I always fall asleep to it.

  • If I ever decide to kill myself this is going to be played while I do it.

  • John,George, you both are still so missed. Beautiful song and the way Ringo sang it was perfection. Thanks for sharing.

  • what a beautiful song to close the greatest lp ever made!!!!john wrote this for ringo to sing..

  • I love how this is right after Revolution 9. Yeah, because I definitely want to sleep after hearing that.

  • I'm going to sing this to my kids when I'm older. C:

  • Something so nostalgic and sad about this one ... just me getting older, I guess. Peace.

  • Wow. The depth of The Beatles' talent in full display on THE WHITE ALBUM. With kick ^ss rock like "Back In The USSR," "Birthday," "Helter Skelter," "Everybody's Got Something to Hide," to something sounding like it came from the 1920's with "Honey Pie," soft ballads like "Blackbird," and "Julia," love songs like "I Will." Then there is "Rocky Racoon," "The Continuing Story Of Bungalo Bill," "Martha My Dear."

To end the album with a lullaby is simply brillant. Ringo was perfect.

  • Ringo rules!

  • dreams sweet dreams for me dreams sweet dreasm for you¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • reminiscent of the old new york nights.

  • happy birthday ringo, still a legend...<3

  • Nothing rare about this. Song and video clips have been widely available and largely seen. But thanks for sharing. One of Ringo's best interpretations of a great Lennon song!

  • I met Ringo once, after a recording session at Sunset Studio (on Sunset Blvd), in '71, or '72. It was after midnight, and I yelled ," Ringo!", as I was running toward him, from a way away...he could have just waved, and got in the car with his friends, but he waited, signed his autograph, shook my hand, and said "Goodnight, Lads", to me and my friend. He is such a nice man.

  • @gergsar Terrific story, Glad to hear it.

  • @gergsar really?

  • @gergsar he is genuine,. i met him also.. he was a gem.

  • @gergsar you are so lucky, Richard is a nice man, not like people now a days/

  • I had read that John wrote this song for Julian but wanted Ringo to sing it cause he thought RIngo would do a great service to it. I think he was right. It would have be really nice if he had whispered "goodnite Jules" at the end. Just saying.

  • Ringo has the perfect voice for this song !

  • Was Ringo the only Beatle to appear on this (with an orchestra and choir), or did the other 3 contribute to this too?

  • My wife and I sing this to our baby girl Emily every night

  • is he French or English....he looks French in this video...ugh I can't tell these damn europeans apart!

  • I want this at my funeral

  • Superbe,

    Merci.

    Natacha.

  • Thumbs up..... if you secretly listen to this right before you go to sleep.

  • wtf, didnt paul sing this?

  • @sonicdeathmonkey69 Not at all, Ringo.

  • Thanks for posting but...it is not a RARE video.

  • J'ai écouté des milliers de fois ce morceau avant de m'endormir, la musique est très belle et Ringo la chante si bien, encore une merveille de l'album "double blanc" des Beatles...

  • Q: Is Ringo the best drummer in the World?

A: He's not (even) the best drummer in the Beatles. (J Lennon)

    Beautiful production

  • @lizvoges1 he later went on to say that ringo was and that he had a great ear

  • lovely - tks for posting

  • I love this song. I love Ringo. I love the Beatles. I love you all.

  • pause at 1:10 its paul dancing and some hands reaching for him o.O

  • @MegaGio44 so what?? Paul is alive....

  • John wrote this song for his son Julian, and Cynthia was a little bit upset because John didn't sing it,but I think Ringo did an amazing job.He sounds different than in other songs. It gives me peace when I listen to him

  • the history behind this song is sort of sad. it was written by john as a lullaby for julian but it wasn't recorded until john & cynthia's divorce, which is why john asked ringo to sing it.

  • When I have children I'm going to sing this song to them when I put them to bed....... I only wish someone had sung it to me. "Goodnight, goodnight everybody, everybody everywhere.. goodnight" beautiful.

  • @Orlabobz this is what i sang to my two boys. go for it! :))

  • they were just boys in their twenties ...lets not forget that.

  • Dude, Im fucking having a seizure right now. This is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard. I'm going to listen to this every night now, before I got to sleep.

God, Ringo is fucking magical... him whispering at the end... *dies*

  • The longevity of The Beatles Legacy ,has not been reached yet nor has its, True Impact been surmised . Whatever this era or time will be ;Then ,hopefully we will be able to look back, as its True Vision will be Mesmerizing ....

  • RARE VIDEO?? Good song but come on, really?

  • @leedrennan well it made you look didn't it! :))

  • @Rawego yes

  • I love how John wrote this <3 It just shows how much beauty he had in his heart <3

  • I have never heard this before! It is sweet.

  • Does Anybody know where that video is from 0:44 to 1:06

  • @ninjaerik ...White Album sessions...=0)

  • @ninjaerik yeah its on the beatles anthology dvd set.sheesh!

  • is ringo still alive??

  • @beatlesfan111111 yesssssssss

  • @beatlesfan111111 Where have you been?. Yes he is alive and well and on tour in Europe.

  • zzZ

  • they could have played this as a soundtrack to the Disney movie 'Tangled'!

  • @skeaneable It always reminds me of a song from the movie Mary Poppins..."Stay awake"

  • @skeaneable ??

  • When i'm going to bed i listen to this song on my iPod and in the morning i listen to "Good Morning." It all makes sense! :D

  • i want this song to be played at my funeral, its so meloncholic yet uplifting

  • If I can't get to sleep at night i can just listen to this and it puts me out like a light.

  • Nice! Couldn't have done it better myself.

    THNXS

  • I sing it to my son every night before bed. Its a ritual, almost 10 years old and he loves it.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Ringo Starr

  • I am a musical snob...but i have always loved this ...and i dont know why .Its great .

  • IMHO it was brilliant to sequence this after "Revolution #9"...a beautiful lullaby after a nightmare. That was 1968 for you!

  • @annatencho,goodnight!

  • 1:48 sharing a joint RARE:D

  • This isn't "RARE VIDEO" it's a damn slideshow.

  • Paul said that John sang this to them with just the acoustic guitar. He said it was beautiful. John wanted Ringo to sing it because he didn't want people to see his soft side. There is no recording of John singing it.

  • My father played this when I was a little kid and was about to sleep. It still makes me lay back and realax.

  • @francescaemc2 ringo, and he's better than you

  • @francescaemc2 Lol Awful ? You dont have sense of music man. Poor you

  • @francescaemc2

The beauty of this song really comes down to Ringo's voice...if any other member sang it, it definitely wouldn't have been the same.

  • @shinobi904 ..................bet u watch thomas the tank engien,...paul cud have made it sang it alot better.

  • @zarty999777 Morally speaking, maybe it's best that you watch Thomas the Tank "Engine" too. Grammatically speaking, maybe it is best that you read The Railway Series, as it teaches some very basic life principles, as well as simple sentence structure. Lastly, please stop hating beauty. Paul is great, but this is Ringo's song.

  • @shinobi904 : I agree that Paul is great, but "Good Night" was written by John...

  • ringo wont shake ur hand now,.......( ELBOW'S ) NOW.

  • Yey! Sorry but im hyper haha

  • its official, this is the song i'm gonna sing to my kids when I put them to bed!

  • Comment removed

  • i thought that he was paul,he is that good in this!

  • In the universe of music, there are The Beatles... And then, there is everybody else.

  • dad I don't need you to put me to bed I have Ringo now!!!!!!!

  • Who sings this Song??

  • @daisyrulzxxx Ringo Starr.

  • @pannicatack Oh thanks :) I like him. As well as the other three. <3 <3 Yey!
