I love this. I really like listening to the slow songs. Good night is beautiful and fascinating. It is the only Beatles song I know where Ringo sings this slowly. He did a very good job, and his voice sounds so nice and lovely. The images were great. I would like to see more footage related to the White Album. O_O The Beatles are soooo beautiful.
I love Ringo. Last Summer, I, a shy 18 years old girl, was brave enough to go to a festival on my own to go see Ringo live, because no one wanted to go with me. (Can you imagine?!) I still don't regret that at all and I also bought an awesome Ringo t-shirt.
It's real sad just cuz it gives you that nostalgic feeling, it makes you remember your childhood, how good it was and the love you just can't recreate. Ringo did a great job, I love you.
I'm 22 & I grew up with this song! Granted a woman did a cover for it and it was on a cassette tape but it was my favorite song and it put me to sleep.. I love it so much and now knowing one of my favorite musician's sings it... I'm in heaven! :D
I love how someone edits together a montage of various film clips and pictures from the White Album sessions, adds this song and calls it a "RARE VIDEO", lol! Regardless, it's beautiful and The Beatles are the greatest band to ever grace this Earth!!
I am not sure if something like this can be worked into a coffeehouse song as an evening closer. On Anthology you can here John doing guitar on it but even at that stage Ritchie was singing it.
I love how versatile and ever changing the Beatles were. They were magic to music for future musicians and music lovers everywhere. I Love when Ringo sings as well!
The transition from the chaotic "Revolution 9" to the light and easy "Good Night" in the White Album -- both Lennon´s music -- have similarities with the end of Wagner´s "Götterdämmerung" . It´s marvellous.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It was written and performed for the untalented numpty by REAL musicians. This guy is so thick he told all beatle fans to p-off and stop writing to them. He also stated that Liverpool is a dump he was glad to be out of.
He has abused his position unlike John, Paul or George.
@scatmansmooth I'm as big an admirer of Liverpool as any Liverpudlian out there but Ringo never said Liverpool was a dump. He merely said he had no desire to return to the city. Which is not the answer people wanted to hear from him but it's better than him lying through his teeth isn't it. Honest Ringo.
I really want to hear John singing this. Paul said he sang it so beautifully and tenderly when teaching it to Ringo, and it's one of his favourite memories of John.
you have to judge this song within it's context. It was positioned on the White Album as the antidote to Revolution 9. John was sending the message that despite all the shite that had been heaped upon him he was still a human being
@DavidH373 Dragonforce? Really? Technical ability? They can'teven do their shit live. In their recordings, the fastforward shit so they would sound fast. You don't know shit.
@raintalonwindclan You know, I know a few people that cite Good Night as their favorite Beatles' song too. Comments on this and other sites suggest many others feel the same. Good Night is a sweet, gentle, little song sung by a very likable person. Still, Good Night is perhaps one of the Beatles' most obscure tracks. It is even more unique in that Ringo is the only Beatle prominently featured on the released version (I think John's guitar is still present, though not very audible).
@VictorRokeiro I don't know why anyone would think this was any Beatle other than Ringo (and certainly not John or George). John's song but Ringo did a fine job with the vocal. John and Ringo seemed to have a great friendship. I think Ringo was the only one that could cut through all the bull surrounding John and talk sense to him. George had his period of closness to John, as well as Paul, but Ringo stayed a great friend.

I am a 34 year old Dad. Sometimes my 10 month year old baby wakes me up in the middle of the night. I sing this song to him slowly and he falls asleep everytime :)
@madogmgd works on 13 year olds too, whenever i can't get to sleep i listen to this and it works everytime! :D only problem is i have to be quick about stopping it cuz the next song is Helter Skelter :P
this guy is one of the the most under-rated and under-appreciated musicians I've come across. his talent is enormous and so very versatile, on top of being a human back-beat box. LOVE to you, man
if you read the book John by cynthia lennon (actually dont because its very depressing and you will loose A LOT of respect for john lennon) he wrote this song for julian after he divorced cynthia.
Wow. The depth of The Beatles' talent in full display on THE WHITE ALBUM. With kick ^ss rock like "Back In The USSR," "Birthday," "Helter Skelter," "Everybody's Got Something to Hide," to something sounding like it came from the 1920's with "Honey Pie," soft ballads like "Blackbird," and "Julia," love songs like "I Will." Then there is "Rocky Racoon," "The Continuing Story Of Bungalo Bill," "Martha My Dear."
To end the album with a lullaby is simply brillant. Ringo was perfect.
Nothing rare about this. Song and video clips have been widely available and largely seen. But thanks for sharing. One of Ringo's best interpretations of a great Lennon song!
I met Ringo once, after a recording session at Sunset Studio (on Sunset Blvd), in '71, or '72. It was after midnight, and I yelled ," Ringo!", as I was running toward him, from a way away...he could have just waved, and got in the car with his friends, but he waited, signed his autograph, shook my hand, and said "Goodnight, Lads", to me and my friend. He is such a nice man.
I had read that John wrote this song for Julian but wanted Ringo to sing it cause he thought RIngo would do a great service to it. I think he was right. It would have be really nice if he had whispered "goodnite Jules" at the end. Just saying.
J'ai écouté des milliers de fois ce morceau avant de m'endormir, la musique est très belle et Ringo la chante si bien, encore une merveille de l'album "double blanc" des Beatles...
John wrote this song for his son Julian, and Cynthia was a little bit upset because John didn't sing it,but I think Ringo did an amazing job.He sounds different than in other songs. It gives me peace when I listen to him

Paul said that John sang this to them with just the acoustic guitar. He said it was beautiful. John wanted Ringo to sing it because he didn't want people to see his soft side. There is no recording of John singing it.
@zarty999777 Morally speaking, maybe it's best that you watch Thomas the Tank "Engine" too. Grammatically speaking, maybe it is best that you read The Railway Series, as it teaches some very basic life principles, as well as simple sentence structure. Lastly, please stop hating beauty. Paul is great, but this is Ringo's song.
@TheItalianAtheist Zarty, from what I understood, said Paul would have sang this song better. I was simply explaining that "the beauty of this song really comes down to Ringo's voice...if any other member sang it, it definitely wouldn't have been the same." I never implied anyone else wrote it...

Paul said that John sang this to them with just the acoustic guitar. He said it was beautiful. John wanted Ringo to sing it because he didn't want people to see his soft side. There is no recording of John singing it.

The beauty of this song really comes down to Ringo's voice...if any other member sang it, it definitely wouldn't have been the same.

@shinobi904 ..................bet u watch thomas the tank engien,...paul cud have made it sang it alot better.

@shinobi904 : I agree that Paul is great, but "Good Night" was written by John...

@TheItalianAtheist Zarty, from what I understood, said Paul would have sang this song better. I was simply explaining that "the beauty of this song really comes down to Ringo's voice...if any other member sang it, it definitely wouldn't have been the same." I never implied anyone else wrote it...
