He did, Michel Bay for some reason didn't put in that part in the Movie when he Transforms and put on the Convoy for super Mode, im just glad we got to see him use the convoy some what to fight Shockwave at the start of the Movie

@ryumega In Anime, Robots(or any other Character with a Power Up Form) can't Remain in their More Powerful form for long, because the "Energy" That they take their Power from, usually is drained faster, in Optimus Case, his System would probably run out of power, since the energy drain would be quite larger, so he would need constant recharges, not something practical(Imagines Optimus Running around looking for a recharging station)

@lfskyden thanks for answering and I get your point. It makes sense. But I cant help wonder if there couldnt be a power source that constantly enables his super mode or something else. I just think of other animes like Dragon Ball Z where Goku could stay super saiyan. I know it's different but it just makes me wonder why not go that route as well. And I'm talking story wise. I know shows like those transformation segments to pad out time.

The English dub was kinda messed up in Armada. First they'd say "Transform and Combine" when they used their Mincons, then later they'd say "Powerlink!" Also, Optimus here simply says "Transform" when going into super mode, but later on says "Optimus Super Mode, Transform" Plus, Optimus' Minicon was at first called Leader 1, same as Megatron's, but later he calls it Sparkplug.

I grew up on G1 and they had combiners like this too but I have to admit that giant robots combining to make super giant robots is just awesome. I like the way that the Japanese belive that when u combine things (working together) then the impossible becomes possible, infact Transformers is a good relection of Japanese culture in the way pplchange in order to accomplish diff goals.

I come from the G1 generation and they didn't need this whole transforming sequence to transform. It was more about the storyline and the characters back then. This is too dragonball-z for me.

Optimus Prime was like a modern day John Wayne, Jazz was cool, Bumblebee although small had a lot of heart and courage, Megatron with his cold raspy voice, Starcream with his endless agenda to take over as leader, Soundwave the loyal enigma who shot tapes out of his chest, it goes on...

Dude, serieously? G1 and storyline in the same scentence? granted, very occasionally they'd have some character bits, but the creators of the show actually admitted to not caring about the characters. In fact, one interview with the writers revealed they didn't even know they were killing off an icon when they killed optimus prime, they thought they were only getting rid of an old toyline.

Armada, on the other hand, always intended to have character developement and a good story.

@Mrspikeprime That's because Transformers were only a few years old when the movie was released and there was little means to convey how iconic Optimus Prime was until the studio received thousands of letters from disappointed fans telling them to bring Prime back. Someone should tell Michael Bay about character development, good story, and not to kill off icons like Megatron but Transformers RID had already ruined my childhood with Transformers. Crappy modern anime and a crying shark.

I agree with you on Michael Bay's movies and RID being utter crap, but my point before was not that they didn't know how popular prime was--it was that they didn't care about the story initially (Initially being the operative word here).

Also, when I read the first comment again, I literally burst out laughing. "It was more about the story in those days"? Really? Especially considering Armada Starscream's actual character journey from decepticon soldier to honourable warrior.

@Mrspikeprime The G1 cartoon had various writers and many of the episodes were well done. Also there were episodes that were focused on individual characters. Besides, it was easy to see the types of characters they were based on their roles within the story. They didn't each need an entire episode. The writers of Armada had the advantage of working from established TF character material instead of working from scratch like the G1 writers had done.

The way I see it, it comes down to this:

In the early days of Transformers, it was inescapably, a commercial for toys. That's all it was meant to be. Over the years however, as it got more popular, the story and "Mytholigy" got built up, which allowed later writers to pick it up from there and expand upon it. G1 in and of itself wasn't terrivle in my opinion, but it WAS pretty silly and cheesy.

Armada? About a 6/10 on the cheesy metre overall.

Justice league? About 4/10 overall.

I'm a product of my generation, as I'm sure you are as well. I grew up with Armada, the DC animated universe and other shows that tried to expand upon and fully flesh out characters, developing them into what felt like real people instead of cardboard cut-outs like they were in G1.
