Actually there are a lot of stories of American parents children being strangled and eaten not only by snakes but ferrets and other animals. I wouldn't go attacking the culture or ethnicity as much as the specific parents. Plenty of American "parents" have done worse things.

The cobra can't bite or spit, but with it's mouth sewn shut it can't eat either, so eventually it starves to death.
So when that happens the villagers go catch another one and repeat the process over and over again.
Oh my god, This is MAJOR animal abuse, let alone child abuse. anybody who knows about snakes knows that you cannot milk a snake to make in not venomous. Also most snakes that undergo 'venom gland removal' die. As somebody who has grown up with snakes, owned snakes, handled venomous snakes and spent 27 years around them, trust me when I tell you this isn't what it seems.

well u have to think this is India, they probably sleep with these things. And snakes are just part of their culture, so when this happened it probably wasn't a big deal. Even though when we're watching it, it seems like they're careless parents but its probably a part of a ritual they do.
