  • Flares !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when will someone get it right, they were not flares......they were for the Hairy's

    nuff said.

  • @bardelolayolay Flares were for the Divs ... parallels and bags were for Soulies.... lol

  • its me at 51 seconds into clip...black trousers doing a kung fu kick

  • nuff respect to you some f us only just discovered it stomp on

  • Who needs gear? Records like this gave me superhuman strength and agility .....okay i wasnt up to Sandys standard but i gave it a good go.....and thirty years later im still of superlative fitness....New York Marathon in November will be my 94th and i will be 4months short of 55years of age!!And i will be in the top 1,500 out of 56000....not bad eh and dancing to sounds like this has certainly helped!!! keep the faith....Mad Dave from York formerly Burnley

  • I am dancing in this vid - and proud to say I was there! With northern sounds on my iPod I now KTF and shake it (actually quite a bit as I am nearly 2 stone heavier than I was) in all the countries I visit, lol. These nights were sublime. Thanks for sharing this vid.

  • right at end spotted Eddie from old dean, camberley.

  • I spoke to Curtis at the casino a few times. He was from the Gloucester area if it's the same one. I said a smart name for a smart guy if it rings any bells. My name is Sam I was friends with a girl called Carla. Who was from Cheltnam at the time

  • 1.35 >>> VERNON, Best spinner ever

  • brill

  • Fantastic

  • Army stores brown brouges but no pattern, school ties pre-punk, cardigans and grand dad shirts....oh yes and flat caps which is now very Swing Dance! plus cap sleeve t shrts, and a knieker chief - very french!

  • i still have my bags i wore to the casino they are in perfect condition and they still fit !!!

  • i was there that nighti think i'm walking off the floor at 1 point, the best club ever + this is yet another clip of the casino that i've only just seen, there must be a lot more footage that was taken that night?

  • Search and join the Official PETE MCKENNA NIGHTSHIFT facebook group. He is re releasing an updated edition of this book about growing up in and around Wigan Casino.

  • i wore bags and polys from 78 to 82. but family of paki's? not nice. keep the faith though.

  • What a crackin' vid...so a note to the unwise...Spencer Bags. 4 or 6button high waists,.smooth leather shoes...or the ugly as hell POLYVELTS from CLARKS after about '76...great for dancin' coz they were light...but back to the leathers when U leave & put your sunglasses on when U get in the car before the MOTORWAY COPS GET ON YOUR ASS!!!

So, to Yate, Blue Rooms; Washaway; Sale, Cat's, Torch, St Ives; Hunts, eventually Wigan and all the unknown little places (Oldham anyone, Barnsley? Bolton?) Ktf

  • you dissing the polyvelts ?organisers loved them because they didnt damage the dancefloor, unlike seg laden brogues, oxfords, or in my case weeguns with a metal tipped heel

  • Nah..but they didn't win a beauty contest! Dance-floor-only. Everything else I had was quarter heal steel & seg tips so I know what ya mean..ripped enough bits of my parents carpets. Poly's were definately like wearing nothing on yr feet in comparison..esp by 4am, sweat & the talc-maniacs had done their worst! There's a few Bank Hols where my leathers were a kilo each!

But Poly's were a bit of a learning curve 4 spinners, no counterweight. 1st time a mate tried them he left the floor like Bambi!

  • I remember we used to buy steel segs and hammer them into heel and tip of our shoes .. we used to feel so cool clanging down the street ...lol

    Ktf..

  • Hahahahahaha! Exactly........that clink-clank......you learnt to get it perfect......'specially when there's a bunch of you.................I had a mate that used Brut as a mouthwash coz he smoked so much!!! ktf mate.

  • blakeys segs, mental

  • Everybody's Going Wild By Curtis Lee and the KCP's was also released in the UK on CBS. Shit rare I've only ever seen one copy in 35 years.

  • Been a long time but i believe in 1974 we wore bags at Wigan never flares. bangin tunes and crazy moves bringing back great memories of the scene and freinds. miss it living in canada now.

  • Only divs wore flares .. oxford bags and parallels was for soulies .... :-)

    Ktf...

  • FLARES!!!???!!!! My bags were so big you could put a family of Paki's up each leg!!! Never saw anyone with flares.....but was out of the scene a bit between 79 to 81 (HMP) so don't know what the f*%@ happened then......but really FLARES,,,,,,,not allowed EVER!!!!

  • @JackMDT8888 I think bags were around 40" to 42" wide .... I could take 2 steps forward before mine even moved .... lol...

  • Yeah tha's about right......if you were a spinner they were practically in a different time zone...........I was back at my parents home last year and was searching for all my old photo's, and actually found a pair of bags and 2 pairs of old shoes.........the waist on the bags was 26".......shocking consumption of something....I'd love to find the crazy ones with 6 button waists double side pockets and 45" bottoms......I know I had them but maybe my mates burnt them!!!

  • Absolutely NO FLARES! No div shit is going on here!

  • people we need to get back to this.the harmony on the dance floor is beautiful

  • FUKIN GR8

  • CHECK OUT THE BAY CITY ROLLER

    110

  • @stokey72 lol I used to wear those bay city roller clothes.......

  • @smoka46 Go and stand in a corner and hang your head in shame ... lol

  • @keepingthefaith72 it had nothing to do with bay city rollers, it was about soul bags with 40" wide bottoms, 8 pleats, 10 back pockets, 3 channel seams and a chain, then you had to have a fred perry polo shirt, a black harrington jacket and polyvelts, ohh and some speed

  • @reeferskankpot I dont remember having 10 back pockets ...lol

  • @keepingthefaith72 ok maybe not the actual pockets , but you had about 5 rear pocket flaps each with a button on overlapping on each leg

  • @reeferskankpot I used to go to the tailors to have my bags made .. the look on the tailors face was priceless when I told him how wide I wanted them ... so funny .. Ktf

  • @keepingthefaith72 there wear lots of zips to girls had skirts made too remeber them

  • @scarthogirl didnt girls have heavy weights sewn into the hems of their skirts so they would lift up when spinning ... :-)
