Honda guys always alk about their little motors making big horsepower.....this is becaue they rev high....BUT thye have no torque which is what pulls you thru the gears to the peak HP, BUT since they rev high, they can stay in the gear longer before making a shift, where a VW would have to shift as it's peak HP is already met, thus loosing torque advantage with time taken to shift...........DSG literally erases this problem with 8 milisecond shifts, making GTI a clear advantage performance wise.
I currently own 2 dsg cars, Wolfsburg Jetta and VW CC and used to own a 2006 GTi and I love the DSG, though I did have the dsg in the Wolfsburg replaced. It was free of
The golf would win hands down if that fucking shit dsg gearbox doest fail.before the race.... 1000s of recalls on them gearboxes and still the same faults....
That is not true at all, I have driven a couple of cars that use DSG tranny's for about 2 years now and they haven't failed on me yet, I would agree that a DSG would work and be better suited to a honda though.
True and this tranny would work very well in the civic it would match the high rev's perfectly, I can't wait till honda makes the next civic with DSG.
Give me,(whoops I own one already.. ) .. the E30 - 230 ,remapped 250 bhp.. just perfect.. nice too see Plato ,for those that dont know the man,one excellent Professional racing driver who knows his cars very very well.. cheers Jason for explaining & showing why the GTI's is all around the better car :).. more E30 videos against say the Ford ST,or the R type are needed, great stuff :) ,Many thanks Jason :)
If harcore is whats needed then buy a Renault Clio RS 200, for resale then buy a Honda Type R, and if reliability, quality, resale and comfort is needed then buy a GTi
Sry didn't mean to look like I was bashing their powertrain I was commending it's ability to hold out against those who thrash the fuck out of it and also aren't meticulous like us. I was very surprised when after helping a friend pass smog: fixed the CEL for a faulty IAC valve and enough Monitors reached Ready state; while burning 1 qt of oil a month. I got my DC5 from Acura with 10k miles on it and 75k miles had no problems except for a 1st-2nd grind when it was cold. Strict syn oil and fluid
@drewnashty ... changes done by mysefl. To save money towards good oil since that's all I could afford with a car and ins payment combined at $920 a month. I was a fuckin moron for allowing myself to buy it at the time when I was being stupid and was considering combined income with my X. It wasn't really a big deal until later obviously.
It got totaled from black ice and I shouldn't have been able to walk from unscathed. It got payed off and was a blessing tho, helped my credit to buy a house
Why are honda fans even coming on here to watch this video, your clearly jealous. Honda's are for people who just want to reliable car like a toyota. vw are for people who want to feel like they paid for something real.
@J90JAM No need to blip the throttle when you shift fast enough. Even in a manual. But the dsg shifts so quickly there is no loss of acceleration on upshifts and downshifts are butter smooth.
Ok so wanting a honda to be real is a bad thing? reliabilty is a bonus and even better with same power as the gti without being a turbo. fact is both cars are amazing but if you want more luxury buy a gti.
DSG is fun to drive with and really does add to the performance, but STAY AWAY FROM IT!!
Why? Because after 150 to 200k miles, there's a tombstone hanging over the car because the DSG will fail at that point. Since its so advanced, has two clutches, and a computerized system, it will cost a lot more to fix than the car is worth and you will be totally screwed.
I test drove a GTI DSG model and loved it, but its not worth my time or my money.
@GeneralHoohah Lol 200k miles? damn man I put like 10k/year on my DD... I don't think I would hold on to it long enough to see the failure... by your data at least lol
@glock19x300 Wait sorry, I think I meant to say 100k to 150k. You can get double that in an 80's dodge truck. lol So yes, that sucks. It also means the resale value is shit. (which it is) Then the dealership polishes it off and doubles the price. >.>
@GeneralHoohah what year vw with dsg do you have? chances are if there is that many miles on the engine it is an older car which means older technology, which means advancements have been made that should alleviate problems such as the one you are stating. with that said, what other car do you know of that is a drivers car that has lasted longer than 150k miles without needing any service or without being traded in??
@mctwist80000 Three words for you. Built in Mexico! If you find a beer can inside your door, you win a prize!!!
German cars made in Europe are completely different in quality compared to the pieces of shit they sell in the US. Most German cars in the US today are throwaway shit boxes. I talk to some people who are pretty much rocket scientists when it comes to cars. :) They did all agree that the M3's and 5's are pretty good though, because they're not built in Mexico.
@xenoo4life Honda spends to much time on getting 125 hp out of a small engine and not enough getting the peice of shit they build to have quality, jap cars are like tin cans
@xenoo4life ..my gti has never had an oil leak and doesn't break down. mean while i have friends who have had problems with there hondas, every car is different, thats not the point of my argument. all i'm saying is that when you drive a jap car vs german. it's like night and day..even a lexus, looks great feels cheap. honda has no plans of trying to increase quality...reliability is there only concern. Jap cars are good for point A to B not.
@Herb3817 Dido, IMO. I had an '06 RSX Type S and went to a '04.5 Jetta GLI. The Acura drove me up the wall when I would find something so cheap considering my payment and insurance costs for that superficial Acura name. I thought I was paying for the reliability of Honda but the quality of a luxury car. Nope, just a Honda with power everything, cheap leather and hiked up insurance costs. Got a VW GLI for less than half the price and 1/3 ins, WOW, features, comfort, quality, VALUE ... day & night
@xenoo4life I have a friend with a '01 Integra GSR, his B18C engine burns off 1 qt of oil a month. I look on Honda Forums, thinking that is unacceptable especially for such a small engine, I find many Honda Enthusiasts who say it's COMMON for some B16-B18 series owners to experience this problem and some worse than others. Just because you don't know anyone in your country that has problems doesn't mean they don't exist elsewhere. All cars have problems of some sort but to act like Honda doesn't
@drewnashty Yeah sure.... A GSR that changed up oil at 20.000miles with no services, and rev limited all day... yes it will die one day... after all its all metal. its not a God. Its a freakin engine...
A well maintαined Honda engine never Fails...
Ι have a friend too with a 91' Honda CRX, and his B16A1 engine not only does not burn any oil, but at each oil change, the oil is blonde, not even black.
The same things happens to my D14A3, to my D13B2 and to my neighbor's D15...
@xenoo4life This is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. All engines last if you maintain them well. I've seen plenty of Hondas with 300K miles running strong. VW's same thing. I've also seen Vtec engines burn oil faster than gas and VW VR6 that the timing chain stretches and jumps a cam tooth and now it's out of time. All cars have their good and bad qualities.
@steveoin724 I like VW cause they use turbos and know how to do it. Vtec, in my opinion, is an economy based idea that has limited power potential. Sure the Civic Type R makes 240HP but it's at 8000rpm. And it only makes 169LB/FT of torque at 7000rpm. 2012 GTI 200 HP from 5100rpm to 6000 and 207 LB/FT of torque at 1800-5100rpm. That torque number always gives Honda guys a problem. Since HP is a product of Torque u can substract 40 HP from Type r to make it even with the GTI and add it to the
@steveoin724 torque value of the type r and you get two ft/lb more than the GTI has. That makes it seem that it would be faster than a GTI but it still doesn't make it's peak torque number till 7000rpm! The GTI does it at 1800 and maintains that power until 5100 rpm. So by the time you're in the Vtec powerband the GTI guy is already in the next gear making peak power for 2500 more rpm. Vtec Fail.
@dilawer321 Funny you try to say that, Mark3 VW's that are now well over 15 years old still run quite easily at this point in time, even if they werent cared for very well and most have over 200k miles on the odo. I dont know what Volkswagens you have been around but since when do they stop working after 10 years?
@bharvey2010 I know i currently run a mk3 gti with 170k on the clock, but even the mk3s are not as well built as the mk2, i owned a 06 plate golf with only 74k on the clock, the injectors went and it cost me £1500 to fix, my 51 plate 1.6 golfs gearbox went it only had 90k, old vw's were virtually bomb proof but ask anyone who owns a modern one they are not what they used to be, the only decent vw's are the diesels but who would really want a performance diesel? Nowadays Ford make decent cars tho
@dilawer321 Newer ones are no good? ohh boo lol, I actually like the Mark4's and thought they actually held up fairly well. My girlfriend has a 2.0 jetta that she put about 140k on so far, and its only needed a thermostat because it wasnt replaced when the timing belt/water pump. i can see where the turbo's coming in can decrease reliablity over time.. Idk, i guess i wasnt under the impression VW's were going downhill. Not saying your personal experience isnt valid tho.

Oh come on I'd say it's quite an achievement to get a lot of power out of a small engine honda do make very small engines that can produce a lot of power for their size and it's pretty good for a honda.
A Cosra? Faster than a Starlet...? I can definitely make you a Video with, a Corsa vs a Starlet.. DEFINITELY... hahhhhahaha In my country, we call German cars "Tombs" and "Cigarrets" cause just like a Tomb, they can't move, can't turn, can't do anything but sit. and cigarrets cause they burn so slow like a fucing ciggaret. while me Honda spins like crazy. ahhahah Air is thin? Its thin for Japs too.. but they beat u all da fucking time..! Can't fight Twin Turbo's dude.. Can't fight VTEC's...
@xenoo4life It's all a matter of money and possibilities you know. Show me one, just ONE little Starlet that can compete with a Corsa B with a C20LET (Which fits perfectly, by the way!)
Just because you greeks can't afford good german cars doesn't mean they are bad ;)
"but they beat u all da fucking time..! Can't fight Twin Turbo's dude.. Can't fight VTEC's... "
Remember: Audi RS2, fastest Station Wagon of its time. This is a fucking station wagon which is faster than Toyota Supra. Bye jap ;)
You know whats funny? That Europe struggles so much to make a car, and when Japan comes out with their "thing" the pwn anything.. Let me freshen your memmory... NSX's... RB26's.. 2JZ-GTE's.. B18's.. S2K's.. Hybrid's.. EV's Hydrogen Cars.. You name it, they produce it.. .. bettah... So where the hack is your freaking technology? You think your Audi is a good car? I mean, you use like.. One Engine for 10 different Brands... Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda.. :P Nice technology dude...
That's your point of view my dear jap-fanboy. You know, japanese cars are good, we used to own Mitsus for many years but they are not better than european ones, just different!
You list engines and cars, I list Inventions which revolutionized cars, so let me fresh YOUR memory: The first car (Benz), invention of the turbocharger, wankel engine (!) , 4WD, ABS, ESP, DSG, direct injection, DOHC, hybrid car (Yes, it's a german invention, by Porsche!),
@MrLowAltitude ha. ha. ha. Seriously? Wankel Engine? DOHC? Hybrid? OMFG...!!! So... A man ones made a Computer... That means that that man know better tha all other PC brands today? So... A man ones made a Lamp... Does that mean that Philips knows shit? Yes... A german dude thought of Wankel... why the hack did you not produce it? Cause you couldn't make it last 5 hours.. The FD's on the other hand.. show'd you... Show me one Porsche Hybrid... Please. Insight dude. Honda Insight.
@xenoo4life First of all: Its spelled "once", not "ones" ;)
The germand did produce it, NSU. But it wasn't as reliable and efficient as an old fashion piston engine, just as matzdas wankels. Btw: A workmate of mine used to own an old RX-5. He said it was horrible...
As I sais (You really have to learn how to read comments properly): Its the invention, not an actual car. But Hybrid is bullshit anyways... Do you know how much black energy it takes to produce a hybrid car? It's completely nonsense
Man, stop insulting me on the internet, ok? Thats pretty pathetic you know...
Oh, and how about the NI-MH accumulators which you can throw away in 10 years? You know as good as I do that a Hybrid might be efficient in city traffic but other than that, it's pure dupery. Take an Audi A2 diesel (They don't make them though, people want fast cars...). It weight less and it uses less energy (caloric value) and it's cheaper than a hybrid car.
...cars is here, Audi proofed it. But that's not what sells cars... Hybrid badges on the back and an interior like captain kirks enterprise is what people makes buy a car.
Oh man, I knew that you'd come out with hydrogen... It might be the better ebergy converter (Over 30 kWh/kg, as far as I know, gasoline has ~13) but it's a total waste of energy. Do you know something about physics? In every transformation of energy, there's a certain loss of energy because you can't have an efficiency factor of 100%. So in comparsion to an EV, a hydrogen vehicle looses much more energy! An EV is still better, believe me...
Yep, I did and of course my old granny-car lost the race! It's not meant to be a fast car, it has a long stroke engine with late ignition timing. It's very comfortable, you can cruise at 1200-1500 rpms without the engine getting too weak.
But you know, what, let's take another car. Your 1.3 Starlet gives 130hp so that's 100hp/litre. Audi built engines with 143hp/litre 15 years ago... 315hp out of 2.2 litres. Oh, and don't forget the new VW enginey: 170hp out of 1.4 litres.
It's just normal that brands share their technology. Japanese manufacturers make exatly the same thing you know. In our modern and fragile economic structure, no company can survive without rebranding of technology and whole cars. Did you know that you can buy an old Audi 200 in Asia? Well, without the four rings of yourse...
Xenoo4life your a retard its not all about horsepower D-BAG you also need to produce torque where honda really lacks ass in. where all vw's exceed with over there horsepower. i can already tell you know nothing about euros so you should just walk away you retard
Yes a buses engine is more powerful at that certain setting... And also double-check what you post, just cause your on the internet doesnt mean you call people whatever you feel like, especially since you just shit... Btw you look like an idiot, go to another engineer and tell them that a honda is better than carrera, you get whacked. Id love to do it myself but too bad dont know where u live.
@xenoo4life because some honda fanboy had to come on here and start shit... I just think hondas are gay because their owners can't be civilized about shit, they are all about their vtecs and they really give honda a bad name. VTEC sucks, you have to rev it to hell to get any power out of it, so lame. It's not just about honda, its about anyone who starts shit for no reason.
A BASE nissan sentra 2.0 has 8 more lb-ft of torque than the Civic SI (the PERFORMANCE model civic)...thats just pathetic
Nissan uses Variable Valve Timing too... Get over it..
Honda = Best Engines Ever.
And if you drive a VTEC engine like a D16, a B16, a B18, or a K20 for Christ, and you feel that Torque is not enough and cannot move the car, then there is some kind of magnetic field messing around with your brain.
Personally, I own just a little D14. Cause my pocket can reach till there.
But I drive my friends B16A CR-X sometimes and that's like TERROR man...
@xenoo4life "fear"? Bahahaa, dude, drive a real sports car for once, so you know what it's like. You act like Hondas are performance cars, they're not. A civic si is fun to drive, yes, but it would hardly instill "fear" in me.... nor would a CR-X.
Seriously, go drive an R8 or Gallardo or something, then you'll feel adrednaline.
No Honda Fanboy said something.... A Honda Hater, or should I say, someone who had his ass fucked by a Honda, wrote "Fuck Honda" and some other guy wrote that Civic's are for pokemons...
Hahahahah... Please.... OH PLEASE... Use your TSI's and your FSI's, to oil the roads m8.. Use 'em to give food to car mechanics. cause my Honda is as clean as my fucking eyeballs.
If not Honda at least buy a Toyota, or another Japanese. VW sucks
@xenoo4life Yeah, because the top-rated comments are automatically the ones that came first. Good job. Wonder why they're top rated? I own a nissan, so go bash VW, i could give a shit. Just don't bitch that their engines have almost double the torque of a performance-model civic. How can a modern engine be so terribly engineered that theres almost a difference of 70 between the hp and tq numbers in a 4-cylinder?
German cars > European cars > Japanese > American.
Just compare any car to a german car, for the same year model. A 2000 model passat is better than a freaking 2005 toyota and honda. If you deny that, you clearly have no clue what cars are about.
Very few people say that German cars are inferior to Japanese, I dont know whether this is due to your background, but it's greatly biased.
Most mechanics, automotive engineers, and other experts of this field, commonly agree that German cars are of superior quality compared to any other.
I've driven different cars, from Italian and French, to Japanese and American. Different people have different tastes in cars, thats normal, but the mechanical aspect remains uneffected by taste..
I cannot believe what Im reading... you sound like a child. Your talking about RPM!! Lol you clearly have no idea how cars run. There is no correlation between RPM and performance. And how can you compare a carrera to a honda?! Adding to that, what car would you like to compare the rs200 to? Anyway this convo ends due to lack of knowledge on your side...
Fun fact: Most twin engine prop aircraft run at a max of 800 RPM and generate over 5000 shp. Thats less than idle RPM of cars..
Yeap... and a fucking bus revs to 1500 RPM and makes 500HP, so that engine is more sophisticated than a cars engine, right?
And a Jet engine revs to 160.000 RPM.
What the fuck are you talking about? We are talking about cars. And in cars, NO REVS = NO FUN. ANYBODY that says different is just lying. I know you would like some more revs dude. I know...
Fuck, you are a retard. Honda cannot be compared to a Carrera. Indeed. Cause the first one is much much better. [ see. NSX ]
Man you are dellusional... Feel sorry that there are people with such narrow scope of understanding... I recommend you grow up and actually bring facts when depanding with a person with much higher knwledge than yourself...
Well, why not? I drive an old Audi 80. It's way more comfortable than it's counterpart from Japan, the Mitsubishi Galant or the Toyota Corolla. It's more reliable (A friend of mine has made nearly 400'000km until now, it still drives fine...), it has a fully galvanized body (No rust AT ALL!) and it's amazing 5-cylinder engine sounds better than every japanes 4-banger and even the V6. It has one of the best AWD systems (Quattro) and the 20V engine makes it...
...faster than most Japanese cars of the same class. While my workmates have to install the second or third exhaust on their Hondas and Toyotas which are younger than my Audi, i still drive with the first one. No rust ;)
Man, you speak of "counterparts" and then you compare a Porsche to a Starlet and a Merc to a Civic or CRX? That's funny...
1) They changed it because of RUST! That DOES mean something, buddy!
2) JDM, i know what it means but... What do you want to say with that?
3) Just what I sad... You know how to read, do you?
Well, it sure sounded like a comparsion. Go read your own comment ;)
As I said: You can't compare the cars neither, nor if it it's a bigger success. The air is thin at the top so it's just normal that a high end car doesn't beat everything. How 'bout the Opel Corsa? Just as goos as your Starlet!
Man, you really have no idea don't you? Listen, boy: Do you know what "galvanized" means? It's a special surface treatment for sheet metal. This means no rust, even after many strong winters.
I live in Switzerland (You know where this is?) and we have much snow ans salt here. I can show you a picture of my 18 years old Audis underfloor with not one single bit of rust ;)
@ilion12345 You really think there is technology in this piece of shit? Ok lets compare it to MY Favorite company! It Produces 200HP from 2.0L Turbo. Right? Honda: 200HP, 1.8L NA. - pwned You think the DSG equals technology... Right? Check this out: Honda CVT... - pwned This engine last about 10.000 miles before you see oil leaks. My engine lasts a lifetime, and still works. - pwned Does this VW turn? yes! Does it turn like my Honda? NO! - pwned. Where is your technology?
@xenoo4life VW has 1.4L 170BHP engines. CVT and DSG are not comparable. Both has its own advantages. For instance the CVT cannon change gear in 8 ms and the DSG does not have infinite ratios. Oil leak issue is totally crap. That does not base on any statistics. Turn? Why does it even need to turn? To annoy the driver? Funny.
@xenoo4life Cars= Comfortable transportation. The quiter the better. So when it revs more it disturbs more. I always prefer scharged, low rev.ing cars. Even more, crappy sound proofing of japanese cars make me sick. I used to own two hondas, those trash cans annoyed me on every highway when i had to drive more than one hour. Now i drive a peugeot and even that is better than honda. At least it doesn't buzz like an old lady, which is honda to me. Comfort rules.
In drive mode and stop and go rush hour backups, it's a joy to drive. In sport mode, the shifting is so well organized, you don't really need the paddle shifting and I only use the paddle shift to demonstrate it to passengers. The DSG tranny does all the thinking about gear shifting and I can keep my mind on the driving.
I'm now learning to do my own 40,000 mile service on the DSG tranny and am actually looking forward to DIYing it.
@gurkmeja101 Honda Civic since 1973. VW Golf GTI since 1975. Honda first. Rival doesn't have anything to do with who was first. It just means they are competitors.
Hi , I have a question: do you have to lift off the gas when you are paddle shifting gears ? Or you can just shift while keeping you foot on the throttle ?
I have absolute respect for the DSG technology but only for a gt car, for long trips. For track cars, race cars, I'd go for the sequential gearbox, and for rally, I'd take the CVT tranny where you can keep engine at max torque almost always.
But I stand for the traditional proper 6 speed manual all in all. It shows how good a driver you can be, and if you can tune it yourself, gear ratios and all, it's the most rewarding driving experience.
When you buy a Honda..... you get a Honda. Adding the phrase "Civic" after that doesn't help at all! But the uttering "GTI" will give everybody but the EVO and STI drivers a run for their money
How the hell do you ride the clutch? Or do you need to? What happen if you're making a start on a quite steep hill? WILL IT go into gear, just not, stall?
@epluribusunum0 It works like a normal automatic. When you are at a hill start, you just press down brake until you want to go. You can't ride the clutch on this on, since you only have accelerator and brake pedals.
You can think of it that way. I like to think of it as an automatic transmission based on a manual transmission, with the computer operating the clutch.
To those saying that all dsg tranny has launch control:
You are slightly mistaken. Vehicles made with dsg before 2007 didn't have launch control. Although it can still be simply flashed to the ecu (supposedly free of charge) it didn't come standard.
I know since I drive a 2006 GTI with dsg, and it doesn't have launch control now. Still need to get it flashed. : )
every dsg transmission has launch control. is you press the brake the clunsh is pressed. so you can pres the gas padel. if you luse the brake the clunsh will close. the simpel sistem is that you can close the clunsh in 3000 rpm and than the lunch control is born. so every dsg has lunch control.

Strict syn oil and fluid
drewnashty 9 months ago
@drewnashty ... changes done by mysefl. To save money towards good oil since that's all I could afford with a car and ins payment combined at $920 a month. I was a fuckin moron for allowing myself to buy it at the time when I was being stupid and was considering combined income with my X. It wasn't really a big deal until later obviously.
It got totaled from black ice and I shouldn't have been able to walk from unscathed. It got payed off and was a blessing tho, helped my credit to buy a house

@J90JAM No need to blip the throttle when you shift fast enough. Even in a manual. But the dsg shifts so quickly there is no loss of acceleration on upshifts and downshifts are butter smooth.

STAY AWAY. VW really botched this...
GeneralHoohah 1 year ago
@GeneralHoohah Lol 200k miles? damn man I put like 10k/year on my DD... I don't think I would hold on to it long enough to see the failure... by your data at least lol
glock19x300 1 year ago
@glock19x300 Wait sorry, I think I meant to say 100k to 150k. You can get double that in an 80's dodge truck. lol So yes, that sucks. It also means the resale value is shit. (which it is) Then the dealership polishes it off and doubles the price. >.>
GeneralHoohah 1 year ago
@GeneralHoohah what year vw with dsg do you have? chances are if there is that many miles on the engine it is an older car which means older technology, which means advancements have been made that should alleviate problems such as the one you are stating. with that said, what other car do you know of that is a drivers car that has lasted longer than 150k miles without needing any service or without being traded in??
mctwist80000 1 year ago
@mctwist80000 Three words for you. Built in Mexico! If you find a beer can inside your door, you win a prize!!!
German cars made in Europe are completely different in quality compared to the pieces of shit they sell in the US. Most German cars in the US today are throwaway shit boxes. I talk to some people who are pretty much rocket scientists when it comes to cars. :) They did all agree that the M3's and 5's are pretty good though, because they're not built in Mexico.

First of all, it is 250 Horses from a Tiny Engine.. and not 125...
And secondly I don't see any Honda's have oil leaks and break down like every day...
I see Group Vags doin that...

I thought I was paying for the reliability of Honda but the quality of a luxury car. Nope, just a Honda with power everything, cheap leather and hiked up insurance costs. Got a VW GLI for less than half the price and 1/3 ins, WOW, features, comfort, quality, VALUE ... day & night
drewnashty 9 months ago
@xenoo4life I have a friend with a '01 Integra GSR, his B18C engine burns off 1 qt of oil a month. I look on Honda Forums, thinking that is unacceptable especially for such a small engine, I find many Honda Enthusiasts who say it's COMMON for some B16-B18 series owners to experience this problem and some worse than others. Just because you don't know anyone in your country that has problems doesn't mean they don't exist elsewhere. All cars have problems of some sort but to act like Honda doesn't
drewnashty 9 months ago
@drewnashty Yeah sure.... A GSR that changed up oil at 20.000miles with no services, and rev limited all day... yes it will die one day... after all its all metal. its not a God. Its a freakin engine...
A well maintαined Honda engine never Fails...
Ι have a friend too with a 91' Honda CRX, and his B16A1 engine not only does not burn any oil, but at each oil change, the oil is blonde, not even black.
The same things happens to my D14A3, to my D13B2 and to my neighbor's D15...
xenoo4life 9 months ago
@xenoo4life This is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. All engines last if you maintain them well. I've seen plenty of Hondas with 300K miles running strong. VW's same thing. I've also seen Vtec engines burn oil faster than gas and VW VR6 that the timing chain stretches and jumps a cam tooth and now it's out of time. All cars have their good and bad qualities.
steveoin724 3 months ago
@steveoin724 I like VW cause they use turbos and know how to do it. Vtec, in my opinion, is an economy based idea that has limited power potential. Sure the Civic Type R makes 240HP but it's at 8000rpm. And it only makes 169LB/FT of torque at 7000rpm. 2012 GTI 200 HP from 5100rpm to 6000 and 207 LB/FT of torque at 1800-5100rpm. That torque number always gives Honda guys a problem. Since HP is a product of Torque u can substract 40 HP from Type r to make it even with the GTI and add it to the
steveoin724 3 months ago

I dont know what Volkswagens you have been around but since when do they stop working after 10 years?
bharvey2010 5 months ago
@bharvey2010 I know i currently run a mk3 gti with 170k on the clock, but even the mk3s are not as well built as the mk2, i owned a 06 plate golf with only 74k on the clock, the injectors went and it cost me £1500 to fix, my 51 plate 1.6 golfs gearbox went it only had 90k, old vw's were virtually bomb proof but ask anyone who owns a modern one they are not what they used to be, the only decent vw's are the diesels but who would really want a performance diesel? Nowadays Ford make decent cars tho

Take an Audi A2 diesel (They don't make them though, people want fast cars...). It weight less and it uses less energy (caloric value) and it's cheaper than a hybrid car.
The technology to build light and efficient...

Hybrids, are not that far from the ordinary cars we drive, but its a Step!
A step Honda made first..
Let me tell you just one other thing, and I'm gone...!
The ONLY car in production TODAY, that has 0-Emmisions, and can actually be used as a normal car
[meaning that it travels more than 5Kms, and speeds up to more than 10 KM/h hahaha ]
is the Honda FCX. Pure Hydrogen power...
Rember this Twenty Years from now..
Remember that when Honda used Hydrogen, u used coil...!
xenoo4life 1 year ago
Oh man, I knew that you'd come out with hydrogen... It might be the better ebergy converter (Over 30 kWh/kg, as far as I know, gasoline has ~13) but it's a total waste of energy. Do you know something about physics? In every transformation of energy, there's a certain loss of energy because you can't have an efficiency factor of 100%. So in comparsion to an EV, a hydrogen vehicle looses much more energy! An EV is still better, believe me...
MrLowAltitude 1 year ago
@MrLowAltitude PS..
Just went to your channel...
First of all.. Props, for having no scratch on a 17 year old car. No matter what car it is.
Secondly... You said about passing Japs! have you raced an equal CC car to yours?
I mean like, check the specs dude:
You have a 5 cylinder engine, @ 2,3 Liters.. and you still produce like 130? 140 HP ?
And a Little 1,5L Straight-4 Honda will give you a stunning 135HP.!
That little 1,3 liter Starlet gave the driver, hmm... 130 HP i think? more?
xenoo4life 1 year ago
Yep, I did and of course my old granny-car lost the race! It's not meant to be a fast car, it has a long stroke engine with late ignition timing. It's very comfortable, you can cruise at 1200-1500 rpms without the engine getting too weak.
But you know, what, let's take another car. Your 1.3 Starlet gives 130hp so that's 100hp/litre. Audi built engines with 143hp/litre 15 years ago... 315hp out of 2.2 litres. Oh, and don't forget the new VW enginey: 170hp out of 1.4 litres.

Nothing feels like a Japanese. Nothing is more sophisticated than a Japanese.

We've had 2 Germans in the family, and 3 Japanese. Two Honda's and a Toyota.
We never had a problem with the Japs. The German cars though had a ton of problems.
Or have it this way: The Carrera I drove revved to something like 7,5K

I cannot believe what Im reading... you sound like a child. Your talking about RPM!! Lol you clearly have no idea how cars run. There is no correlation between RPM and performance. And how can you compare a carrera to a honda?! Adding to that, what car would you like to compare the rs200 to? Anyway this convo ends due to lack of knowledge on your side...
Fun fact: Most twin engine prop aircraft run at a max of 800 RPM and generate over 5000 shp. Thats less than idle RPM of cars..
ilion12345 1 year ago
@ilion12345
Yeap... and a fucking bus revs to 1500 RPM and makes 500HP, so that engine is more sophisticated than a cars engine, right?
And a Jet engine revs to 160.000 RPM.
What the fuck are you talking about? We are talking about cars. And in cars, NO REVS = NO FUN. ANYBODY that says different is just lying. I know you would like some more revs dude. I know...
Fuck, you are a retard. Honda cannot be compared to a Carrera. Indeed. Cause the first one is much much better. [ see. NSX ]

I am talking to a guy that favored a video called "Americans are NOT stupid"
You are a retard dude. You tell me to talk with facts, while I DO talk with facts.
You speak like you know everything, but in reality, till yesterday you though a supercharger is some kind of Need For Speed powerup.
Men Japan rules. In sales, In Horsepower, in Safety, in Technology, in Style in ANY FUCKING WAY. Europe produces just cans with wheels. Get over it.

@xenoo4life Man, I dare to say you have no idea of european cars! (Or of cars at all...)

@MrLowAltitude
There... your European cars:

PS. Yes.. That thing behind the Golf, is a Porsche. They break down too! hahaha
xenoo4life 1 year ago
@xenoo4life Now you proofed my guess! If you transfer this stupid video to ALL european cars, you really have no idea...
MrLowAltitude 1 year ago
@MrLowAltitude So tell me...
please, tell me 1 European Car, that is better than its Japanese Counterpart.
For every single car Europe made, there is a Jap, better, faster, cheaper, more reliable.
I've driven a Porsche, and I've driven a 1,3 Starlet.
I've driven a Mercedes 200 Kompressor, and I've driven a Honda B16A2.
Nothing is compared to a Japanese product.
xenoo4life 1 year ago
@xenoo4life
Well, why not? I drive an old Audi 80. It's way more comfortable than it's counterpart from Japan, the Mitsubishi Galant or the Toyota Corolla. It's more reliable (A friend of mine has made nearly 400'000km until now, it still drives fine...), it has a fully galvanized body (No rust AT ALL!) and it's amazing 5-cylinder engine sounds better than every japanes 4-banger and even the V6. It has one of the best AWD systems (Quattro) and the 20V engine makes it...
MrLowAltitude 1 year ago
...faster than most Japanese cars of the same class.
MrLowAltitude 1 year ago
@MrLowAltitude
1) many people Rice out cars with 10 exhausts. That does not mean anything.
2) Told ya. check what JDM means.
3) A counterpart is a car of same price/size/displacement.
Did not compare a Porsche to a Starlet u fool.
The Porsche is supposed to be Germany's Jewel, and the Starlet is supposed to be just another small Jap car.
Yet Porsche's suck some cock from other V8's, while Starlets pwn at 13 hundred CC !
So what the biggest succes?
xenoo4life 1 year ago
1) They changed it because of RUST! That DOES mean something, buddy!
2) JDM, i know what it means but... What do you want to say with that?
3) Just what I sad... You know how to read, do you?
Well, it sure sounded like a comparsion. Go read your own comment ;)
As I said: You can't compare the cars neither, nor if it it's a bigger success. The air is thin at the top so it's just normal that a high end car doesn't beat everything. How 'bout the Opel Corsa? Just as goos as your Starlet!
MrLowAltitude 1 year ago
@MrLowAltitude
German cars have 5meters thick metal, and a ton of stuff to prevent them from rusting.
Its fucking Snowing all the time there.
Snow = Salt to prevent Ice.
Salt = RUST
RUST = bad for your car.
5meter thick titanium [ hahahha ] = strong against RUST
= TOMB...!
xenoo4life 1 year ago
Man, you really have no idea don't you? Listen, boy: Do you know what "galvanized" means? It's a special surface treatment for sheet metal. This means no rust, even after many strong winters.
I live in Switzerland (You know where this is?) and we have much snow ans salt here. I can show you a picture of my 18 years old Audis underfloor with not one single bit of rust ;)

DSG in the Jetta TDI is an awsome set up as well.

Hondas rivale??
what the hell are they on?
The GTI was first... if anything the honda is the gti's rivale.
gurkmeja101 1 year ago
@gurkmeja101 Honda Civic since 1973. VW Golf GTI since 1975. Honda first. Rival doesn't have anything to do with who was first. It just means they are competitors.

Hi , I have a question: do you have to lift off the gas when you are paddle shifting gears ? Or you can just shift while keeping you foot on the throttle ?
RAPFlavour87 1 year ago
@RAPFlavour87 you can shift while foot is on the throttle
trbochrg 1 year ago

WILL IT go into gear, just not, stall?
epluribusunum0 1 year ago
@epluribusunum0 It works like a normal automatic. When you are at a hill start, you just press down brake until you want to go. You can't ride the clutch on this on, since you only have accelerator and brake pedals.
epatto 1 year ago
@epatto
Well, that'd be an issue. Does the computer ride it? Because if it doesn't, it'd jump quite a bit as far as I can tell.
epluribusunum0 1 year ago
u dont worry about the clutch (or clutches), u take your foot off the break and accelerate.

You can think of it that way. I like to think of it as an automatic transmission based on a manual transmission, with the computer operating the clutch.
But in the end, I still have a manual car.

Yes...You really need launch control on Golf..
Maybe on Porsche..But not on Golf
846524162 2 years ago
To those saying that all dsg tranny has launch control:
You are slightly mistaken. Vehicles made with dsg before 2007 didn't have launch control. Although it can still be simply flashed to the ecu (supposedly free of charge) it didn't come standard.
I know since I drive a 2006 GTI with dsg, and it doesn't have launch control now. Still need to get it flashed. : )
rceckspurt13 2 years ago 2
every dsg transmission has launch control. is you press the brake the clunsh is pressed. so you can pres the gas padel. if you luse the brake the clunsh will close. the simpel sistem is that you can close the clunsh in 3000 rpm and than the lunch control is born. so every dsg has lunch control.
eLightman12 2 years ago 2
I gave a thumbs up:P one thing your wrong with not every dsg has it.,
BUT they can all be flashed with it for 50 euro
