Definitely agree, I've never had a Blackberry and I only heard bad things about the Storm but I had a look at the Storm 2 at Vodafone last night and I was very impressed.

This is from JULY everyone. The OS in this vid was old, outdated, and laggy and slow..

The actual Storm 2 was released LAST WEEK. It's amazing...look at some new reviews for an accurate portrayal.

The only thing that seems different is the way the phone looks. still just as crappy as the first one, the screen wouldn't even move when you turned it or wouldn't clear when you pushed the button. Didn't buy the first one cause I was waiting for this one, but after watching this short video I still wont buy a storm. What a waste of a phone.

The display resolution is 480x320, so no, it won't play high definition video. However, I'm sure your poor youtube quality is related more to your broadband speed than anything. With the storm 2 you'll be able to use wifi which should improve video quality dramatically for youtube. If you watch movies etc the video quality is great.

you never need a data plan to use wifi on any phone, however, alll blackberrys , as well as iphones, REQUIRE one when you activate your phone..

i am using a leaked 5.0 on my 9530 and even in beta stage it is 160% BETTER my storm NEVER LAGGS anymore and i only average about 3 battery pulls a week, compared to 15 a week with 4.x.x

the funny things is that this is a phone on the rogers network, which is canadian by the way, but it has a verizon wallpaper lol....I hope that they o.s. on this phone will be much better than the first one or i'm afraid I will have to wait until the iphone comes to verizon in a few years. I don't want to have to switch but I just bought a new MBP and the thought of having a phone that's native to my computer sounds very nice. and the fact that it will be on verizon is even better!

Yea ive had Full qwerty keyboards on the dash 3g (tested it out did not own it) G1 and the sidekick 09 and it feels the same to me

@wiseman85 the thing is im terrified of a touchscreen because the iphoe has a horrific keyboard but i suppose witht he click i will get the satisfaction of the keyboard but then again i might wait for the 9800 im not sure im realy not sure i love my 9700 but i really dont know how i could adjust to a touchscreen i sold my last one about 1 year ago and that was never my main phone

I would think that RIM would listen and learn about the crapiness of a screen that clicks. Why can't we be a bit more sophisticated and upgrade from this preschooler clicking RIM???.. not to mention it really slows down texting

yes its great that we finally get a chance to get a look at the new blackberry storm2 but maybe they should have waiting a bit more until the operating system was better. i know that its in its very early stage but i dont think its a good idea to show its cons before its even released. hoping that it will be near flawless when released.

This was the huge problem that changed my mind on buying the first storm it was extremely slow does this one have a faster chip or is it the same?

I believe the processor is still the same, but the flash got upgraded from 128 to 256, 2 GB of built-in memory plus whatever memory you can insert via SD card. I think the device holds up to 32 GB, but don't quote me on it. The wifi is the selling point for me, but the data plan is the negative aspect. Not a huge fan of being locked into a data plan when wifi is a viable alternative in most places.

i believe so..... the 1st gen Storm with the 4.7.151 OS is very very responsive.... so i would imagine the 5.0 OS to be superb

From the info I found, it's supposed to be out "October/November", but I also saw rumors of a September release. Either way, it's a 4th quarter phone. Depending on the release and the reviews, it's either this or an upgrade to my current phone, the Voyager, to the enV Touch. Wish the Samsung i8910 was out, but that'll be an expensive one (eg. $600-$700).

Didn't take long for RIM to get rid of this original video. Why's it all hush-hush? What's the big deal? Most of the details are out there and the phone is coming soon. I plan on getting it when it does get released and the more info I have on it, the better informed my decision will be. Keep this in mind, RIM.
