  • Chomsky is a fucking linguist. Not a fucking philosopher. Shut the fuck up Chomsky. No one cares.

  • @mynamearekid Retarded ad-hominem attack because you cant attack his actual ideas. And he's the most cited person alive (and one of the most cited of all time), and has been one of the most popular activists, intellectuals and dissidents of all time, sooo clearly lots of of people care and so do you apparently

  • @oihhow LOL I love how you attempt to come off as an intellectual because you hate yourself inside so you use words like "ad-hominem" so that you appear intelligent but since no one actually talks like that it just makes it apparent that you have self esteem issues. If you were actually intelligent you would be more confident in yourself and not need to talk like that.

  • @mynamearekid Yeah, let's avoid actually discussing anything and instead just point out what words are too advanced and confusing for you, thats a weird way to get out of actually making a point. but if you're that desperate to avoid having to actually respond to Chomsky's brilliant insights (which you obviously cant do) then its not surprising

  • @oihhow You original point was unarguable because it was fucking pointless, weak and virtually substance free. After that I realized what a co-signing retard you are, lost the respect required to argue, and decided to show you a side of yourself that only your mother has seen. You are a failure and Chomsky is an OVER-quoted faggot. It's been done already and done to death a long time ago. You are behind the curve young buck. Seriously, catch up, you're not that bright.

  • @mynamearekid What's been over done? Why is he over-quoted? What are your views on America's role abroad? The ISSUES, dumbass! You blamed the other guy for being substance-free and all the while you've posted nothing.

  • "Peaceful anarchism, impossible in a world filled with mostly idiots." -Hermoor

  • Fuck zeitgeist. Noam chomsky has been "quote mined".

  • The enormous truth behind what Chomsky says, is that our nature is based off of that necessity that we generally define as love. Hierarchical systems are perpetuated by Darwinian dogma, and we're lied to and told that it is our nature to be primarily self serving. Look at indigenous cultures that haven't been touched by the western world, and you see something very different. That is our true nature. Society affects the way we see and interpret our world in ways that we don't even notice.

  • @breaneainn I'm extremely sure about what I'm saying. Maybe you should be more certain about what you believe.

  • @sandite26 ..my bad, now that I'm sober, I understand your comment, and mine makes no sense at all. lol. Being lied to and told that we are self serving is also a Victorian legacy in european cultures, if you think of the early industrial revolution in England say, where you essentially work for the machine as an individual unit of labour. Coal mines/ Manchester cotton houses etc.

  • @breaneainn Most people would be too proud to do what you just did, so I appreciate it. It shows class.

  • @sandite26 cool, I'd rather be wrong than stupid! peace.

  • Were is this from? Can I get it?

  • The things Chomsky speaks about, I felt instinctively in my heart ever since I was a child, but I couldn’t decipher what I was feeling/thinking it was just an overbaring torrent of emotions and thoughts which lead to anger and discontent. But now when I listen to his words its almost like he is translating what’s in my head.

  • Shoot the pianoplayer!

  • Capitalism is the historic evolution of private property relationship of alienation, exploitation and suffering of humanity in a modality of production for profit in a world market of ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY and manipulation to perpetuate the conditions of exploitation in the interest of the Owning/Ruling elite. Capitalism is the monetary web of deception and suppresssion of humanity for the abstract process of capital accumulation and concentration . A system of dehumanisation and devaluation

  • No man is as much a propagandist as this guy.

"Bla bla... we bad... bla bla bla ... everyone else is good... bla bla bla... it's the fault of the elite... bla bla... not of the common man who actually choses to adhere to consumerism... bla bla". He sounds like a bishop in a church.

  • Chomsky is a genius. He acknowledges a global controlling elite which reasonable ordinary people can relate to.

  • "Political activist from MIT" is a description only sentimental Lefties could be impressed by. Chomsky was ensconced in an organization which was no small player in the 'military industrial complex'. He is a brilliant man - though I can't say which is more impressive, his work in linguistics or his entrepreneurial flair. He has duped millions of Leftards the world over.

  • whatever righthard!

  • @alphecca2539 Well yeah, he gets paid tons of money from the system he writes about bringing down. Genius, and he changed my life.

  • You are soo vrong Questfortruth86. Workers are necessary but not inportant to enybody, just numbers, thats what we are, modern slaves. And where is democracy in kapitalism? There is non.Politicians want us to be stupid and not to undertand what is going on around us.Just money and profit.

    Chomsky is 100% right.

  • @Questfortruth86

Where has Chomsky ever referred to the majority as "stupid"? And you are an expert in linguistics how? For instance, what are the contemporary theories you think effectively show Chomsky's approach is incorrect?

Overall, you are not a very bright person, are you?

  • "The stupid majority" is the prevailing conception of the public as seen by the political and executive class, NOT one held by Chomsky. Rather it was Alexander Hamilton, founding father of the USA, who conceived of the public as the idiotic "great beast", who need to be placated and silenced, so this negative, elitist treatment goes back a long way.

you don't understand Chomsky's linguistic and political theories. Research before comment, or suffer the shame of a very public ignorance.

  • "The question is whether privileged elites should dominate mass communication, and should use this power as they tell us they must, namely to impose necessary illusions to manipulate and deceive the stupid majority"

2:36 of this very video. But thank you for you meaningless assertions and your random digressions (Hamilton).

Also, Chomsky's particular brand of syndicalism has been entirely obliterated many times over. Would you like to discuss this?

  • @Questfortruth86 what are you on about ? Chomsky is a mix of JESUS, MANDELA, and all the other good things you can think about in the world.

If you don't know that you just don't know anything about the man. Should read some of his books first.

  • @Questfortruth86 In the broader context of the film it is very clear that his reference to the 'stupid majority' is tongue in cheek. It is essentially how he claims the professional elite view the working class. So that criticism is substantially flawed. He goes on to make the very point that it is unrealistic to expect the average, intelligent working class individual to be able to see through the media tactics that they are bombarded with. It's a full time job.

  • @Baustrophedonic Furthermore, he doesn't advocate the elimination of any jobs of the sort you are talking about. Is that possibly a consequence of Anarcho syndicalism? I don't know. I understand his position to be that companies should fall in selective democratic control in that the workers have equal ownership and must act responsibly to protect their mutual investment. It seems to me that this is at least tenable given the 'wisdom of crowds' especially when there is something at stake.

  • Anyone aware fo the date of this video.

  • no haha when is it? do you know?

  • No, thats why i was asking !!

  • 1988 is my best guess. Figuring this video had to coincide with Chomsky's book "Manufacturing Consent" coming out.

  • @ilovepoker929 It is from Manufacturing Consent, he uses Lippman's "Necessary Illusions" idea in this video, which Manufacturing Consent parallels.

  • Thank you for posting this clip. I'm downloading the movie now. Peace, John.

  • dont shoot me down, but noam chomskys voice is kind of like marylin mansons.... u got to see it surely.

  • I agree. sort of monotone and subdued but fluent.

  • along with rawls one of my heroes

  • Lou Rawls?

  • john rawls

  • Good clip from a great movie. Thanks for posting.

  • you do not have to agree with him but being what he is you need to know him

get to see " MANUFACTURED CONSENT " and think again of what your country means

  • his ideas are way out of time , is being 70 years since the las WW humanity has not change ...religion is stronger than ever ....the land take over by concrete the water filthy and man handle

the sense of common good lost in the pursuit of individual pleasures, a free wanna be has to get link to any kind of human group even in the case of being out of the society,

humanity is by nature ..obsolete and stupid ,incongruent and self destructive

  • One of the greatest men alive.

  • @jpcortijo Correction--of all time.

  • i want noam chomsky for president!

  • The point of Chomsky is that we should not even have a President. And I agree with him.

  • @derpestarzt lol Chomsky is an anarchist, so I don't know how that would work but I still agree with you.

  • @derpestarzt

    that is so ironical..

  • @derpestarzt Actually no, I want Ron Paul for President. Much, much better!

  • Why can't people realize (some do) that as time moves forward we are becoming more out-of-touch with our true nature, which is that we are aggressive and sexual beings. We are being wrapped up in sociological evolution. This is not natural but man made, or should I say government made. The ball is to powerful and fast now to slow down. The end result will be true bedlam. This is just my opinion of course.

Thank you for reading and thanks to Noam Chomsky.

  • That's the pesimistic view. I thought so too a few years ago, but I got faith into people again over the past 2 years. Ppl are good, at least the majority is, they only live in a bubble. Once they got a glimpse outside their bubble, the good comes out.

I began to hope that it does not have to come to bedlam first, in order for people to realize that we are on track to total destruction and maybe even total annihilation and change course before it will be too late.

    That's my optimistic view.

  • You are so right.

  • this is quite possibly the funniest thing ive ever read...if evolution is anything to go by, the certainty of its existance completely disproves your so called "opinion".

If this so called negative sociological evolution never took place...we'd still be living in the dark ages, or being a technologically advanced race, we would have destroyed ourselves long ago.

  • Believe me, we would have, if we would have been able to do so. It's not so long ago when man was depending on the will of nature entirely. Look at today. .. also, I don't believe that 1,000,000 German V2 rockets or Tiger Tanks would have been able to detroy mankind and that was the sophistication of destruction as best as you could get it.. less than 100 years ago.

  • @yulske Evolution has more to do with the genetics than the behavior. Behavior is set by environments, in which case a Dark Age environment would have to be tolerable for a long period of time for that to be true.

But it wasn't, so we moved on and really nothing is tolerable, and everything can be improved. At least that's the human thought. So for better or worse we have done that.

And we have just grasped the concept of "ourselves" as a singular species roaming the globe in the big picture.

  • @BackToOurBasics Our nature, as generalist beings which occupy a "cognitive niche" in our environment, is varied. Sure power and hierarchy and violence are a part of us as any other primate - but we couldn't survive without deep relationships and bonds of affection. The real question within our sociological development is which of our traits will choose to reward and allow to the fore?

  • @BackToOurBasics When you say "our nature" do you mean 'origins'? Realize ,for better or worse, humans Do not go backwards. Our 'nature' is to change .

  • there is a handful of people that i would love to take a picture with, not actors nor singers. noam chomsky would be on my top list, then RON PAUL, george galloway, and busch >(animals in the zoo are fun to take a picture with also lol)

  • This is awesome.

  • It would be amazing to have a conversation with Noam.

  • Top stuff,

    thanks for posting this
