I was never offended by stuff like this. I grew up with the rebooted cartoon in the 90's along with other crazy stuff even controversal shows even in the 90's they showed cartoons from previous decades, I'm glad I was brought up in that era.
Stuff like this will never be apreciated by todays wimpy modern generation.
It's ironic that they got the same voice actors and artists for this cartoon even though they use different voices and designs. Nevertheless, I would have to say this is my favorite George and Junior cartoon due to its constant gags. Granted, it doesn't have the infamous "Bend over, Junior" running gag but I think that would slow down the pace of this cartoon. It's a shame it's so rare because it deserves to be a classic.
I remembered almost all of this cartoon, although I never saw it since almost 20 years. Just the ending... I really thought George and Junior were chasing the little pigmy and the screen turned black.
Can anyone tell me the name of the cartoon where this little guy chases a walking, large beaked bird through all terrain to the sound of Ravel's Bolero?
You're probably thinking of the Inki cartoons that were done by Chuck Jones. There were about 5 of them made. The ones you would be thinking of are "The Little Lion Hunter", "Inki and the Lion", or "Inki and the Mynah Bird"
G & J are ready to shoot themselves, but the ending title card is drawn down before it's even done (probably early censorship). Was there an alternate ending of this short where we actually see G & J shoot themselves before we see the end title card?
it's a very funny cartoon even though when I mentioned the voices of George and Junior were different. i love all of those sight gags...a giraffe whose neck goes and goes up one way and down the other...connecting to another giraffe body. funny use of animals...especially the facial and body contortions and the kangaroo's where the characters hop in one pouch, going down under to Australia perhaps, and they come out the other kangaroo's pouch. the Tex Avery visuals, as usual, are very surreal.
Thanks for posting this cartoon. I hadn't seen it before, because from the "complete" Tex Avery MGM DVD box I bought some years ago, two cartoons were left out, due to "political incorrectness": "Uncle Tom's Cabana" and this one. It's a shame, because it's a great cartoon!
I'm mixed race black and white.

@ClassicTVMan81 nope, there wasn't an alternative version, they simply chose not to show an unnecessary suicide scene.

@PorscheMonty
Still, this short was not immune to censorship, probably due to the black Pygmy characters.
