@JLVocalz id also say jojo(from jodeci)could and probably daniel bedingfield aswell,there are plenty of singers who could...pretty funny how anyone can single out an artist as the "best singer",really what do you base it on?obviously fans of anyone will say theyre the best,and they probably believe it.mj was a great singer and he is one of the best of all time,but there are hundreds on that list.

But there is noone who could sing, dance and perform and write songs which went in history better than Michael Jackson. That is why he was a Megastar. He was unique. He stage presence was overwhelming, espeically in the Bad Era. He created a whole kind of music plus a complete unique dance style. Hes moves changed a generation. But I agree, today he would not have the same success. The market is saturated.

Of course there are better singer and dancers but noone who could combine this things together better as he did.
So Michael Jackson stays still the greatest entertainer in music history. Period.

@49634900 again,no one was saying hes not a great performer,the statement i replied to was that no one could sing better,and you just agreed with me,i think youve got a little lost with this one,also anyone who credits mj as their influence musically etc isnt talking about bad,history,blood on the dance floor etc,they are referring to thriller and off the wall,.the only exceptional albums he made,the others dont compare,thats why i say he didnt contribute anything substantial for 30 odd years

@fishhed01 - I agree that Off the Wall and Thriller were actually the exceptional albums. Depsite the voice .. he contributed with more than only the music .. I mean the videos, the stage performance, the incredible stage presence, his outfits on stage, you know you must count all that. The thing what made Michael special was his own style his own originality which truely spoken no star has intus like he had it. Michael puted any perfomer in the pop scene in a shadow.

@49634900 sure,but the problem now is that for the most part all ideas have been used,if you are a female artist and change your style you get compared to madonna,a male who sings with choreography is always labelled a mj wannabe,on top of fans such as yourself claiming no one will ever be as good,current artists are battling the past aswell.personally i cringe when i see mj perform,i like the music but the performances were always too over the top,for the latter part that is.he lost it

The dont come up with new original pioneering ideas like he or madonna did. And truely spoken MJ didnt invent any thing new, but THE WAY he merged them and presented them was unique. So the matter of fact is, that we dont have pioneers nowadays anymore and this is what I critisize on first place.

@fishhed01 - Look at George Michael .. to me another genius of the Pop scene. His music is so different to others also very unique .. the melodies etc. Songs like "Jesus to a child" or "Careless Whisper" or "Fastlove" or "Star People" are timeless. Prince the same. Freddie Mercury too. And they had MJ as direct concurent in the 80's.
We need real artists back and not Lady Gaga, Lady who ?

@49634900 why stop at the 80s,look at the beatles,elvis,the eagles,beethoven...michael jackson pales in comparison to the creativity or presence,and so he made up for it with choreography,and fooled a generation of fans,he was a terrible role model,honestly how many of his hit songs did he write and compose?as the greatest performer/entertainer i expect more than what he was capable,a few spins doesnt impress me as much as decent songwriting ability..prince in all honesty is superior to mj
