@bryce21 The way I show setting the trap using string to trap the bait. Less bait would mean less time on the trap to trigger it. Without string on the bait the mice around here will clean out the trap so well it looks like it was never baited. Also I run a string of 4 traps next to each other and will catch multiple mice if a wave comes into the garage. Method I show has worked really really well. For me the Victor without string works more like a mouse feeding station:-)
Victor mouse traps dont suck, you trying to use one does. You dont soak the trap in peanut butter, tiny amounts, your not giving mice a buffet, a little bit and then the mouse will have to set the trap off to get the food
Thanks! -- I was really disappointed when the earlier video said nothing about how to put the bait on the trap, but this has given me lots of ideas - I wasn't even sure I put it on the right side of the lever after it disappeared without triggering the trap, but apparently he was just a lightweight and/or smart mouse. Now I have hope that I can outwit him! And may vermin infest the person who said you have to be an idiot not to know how to set a mousetrap.
Instead of using peanut butter in the cheap victor traps, put a piece of peanut in the middle hole on the bait pan. If you work it in right, it is difficult to remove and you get a better chance at a clean kill, which is more humane. I just toss the traps with the mouse still in them. Less likely to get hanta or any other disease from reusing them.
With the plastic one, it's more effective if you smear the peanut butter on the underside of the top section. The mouse has to step on the metal lever to get at the bait, which triggers the trap beautifully. I have found, however, there are quite a few duds, that do not stay open.
Does anyone actually kill these buggers with these traps? Im using cheese and they arn't touching the stuff, the buggers are in my ceiling and come into the house from the walls, im considering getting a cat just to catch these fuckers!
I have cought 7 mice in the past 2 months in my home. Its a problem right now, and iot seems the remaining mice are becoming a bit smarter, and wont bite the cheese. So I'm going to try out the peanut butter, and see how it goes. Do the mice actually get smarter if they start losing family members due to traps? And is peanut butter more effective than cheese?
I'm going to try your great dental floss tip. I'm using those crappy Victor classic traps right now, and they get cleaned far more often than they trigger. Good tip, thanks.
Thanks for that. I have a snap trap I bought from my grocery store, but I couldn't get it to work since I guess I wasn't baiting it right. Better luck this time, I hope.
I have not looked at the comments in a long time. Is peanut butter the best? I don't know, it is easy to use and I have caught lots of mice. If you find bait that catches mice that is the goal. The simpler the better!
when i make traps the mice never seem to go near them and i tried those sticky pads and they seem to repel mice and as for for mouse poison, they seem to eat it and thrive on it! any advice?
hah, that victor trap was the very reason i looked for this video. the mice kept licking the trap clean without triggering it!

Personally, it doesn't matter a great deal, really as long as it brakes the mouses neck that's all that counts.

In truth mice don't actually like cheese.. Your best bet is peanut butter, or even cheerios work if the trap has a hook like baiter.

Try one with a brick deadfall design with a matchstick trigger. Pretty good.

I don't think Victor mouse traps suck. But they work better for mouse trap cars. Watch my video and you'll see what I mean.

I bet they do. Never made one but that is definitely a good use for a Victor, not a used one though ;-)
