Yes. Use the INSERT > MOVIES AND SOUNDS > SOUND FROM FILE (or RECORD SOUND). You might want to double-check under TOOLS > OPTIONS > GENERAL to make sure that the "LINK SOUNDS WITH FILE SIZE GREATER THAN" is set to a very high level -- to embed the music inside the PowerPoint rather than requiring the sound file be sent and housed with the PPT file.
