  • ANTEOJOS ROJOS

  • Sick.

  • great "sort of cover". As heavy as the original

  • i wish could go back in time and listen to this in the first time

    it was the best

  • Imagine this used in the future 'Iron Man 3' trailer! They can probably do it because I did hear the Sabbath one used before I think.. But yeah, 1:04 - 1:57 and just show crazy scenes with Iron Man flying around blowing shit up. How epic would that be?

  • MMW was way better and they aren't really comparable except that they each are the same set-up.

  • Sometimes it seems like the group is going between a joke and a hard-core endeavor to transfer the song from one genre's favored instrumentation to a jazz trio. Just in general- not on all their stuff. But I love it either way.

  • holy fuck i don't even like black sabbath and thus song made me jizz in my pants

  • OH GOD THE MAJOR KEY CHANGE. I died. Perfect.

  • Anyone who believes that this form of art lacks style, rhythm, continuity, sensibility, form, decency, or just thinks it's a pointless, horrible, time-wasting gut-wrenching debauch pile of faux-music garbage...

clearly has never listened to The Mars Volta.

  • THE BAD PLUS <3

i've seen them in concert multiple times the drummer and pianist are soooooo amazing :D

    LOVE THIS BAND!

  • you sure this isnt rebecca black?

  • In the beginning the piano sounds inspired on Rimsky-Korsakov.

    Very nice version.

  • This is a crazy version of iron man :S

  • you cannot compare the Bad Plus and MMW! they are both unique and genial in their own way! (i.e. who is better? Mike Stern, Pat Metheney or John Scofield?) ;o)

  • Very interesting cover. I like it even if it is a little too random at times.

  • @arubenst thats called fusion SON!

  • @arubenst oh i assure you nothing is random in there :) ...but if they made some believe that...well than they achieved what they wanted :P...cheers

  • @harakyryx virtually ANYTHING adventurous a pianist does can be labeled 'random'. :) Whether or not it was all carefully premeditated note-for-note, well, most likely not, but I've already brought it into 'ponderous' territory there. hehe

  • @dalisman True, i don't think it's necessary to define "random" right now, even though it is obvious there are multiple perceptions of it. It also depends on which scale are we talking random here : this could be called random improvisation on a theme (restrained, smaller scale); random playing, means much more than this...take, for example, John Zorn's "cobra" game or, some of his live manifestations. That's what I call random...Yet discussions like this are exhaustive and exhausting -Nice song

  • 4:36. God d*** beautiful.

  • Piano style at the beginning reminds me of Type-O-Negative.RIP Peter Steele.

  • JAW DROPS AT THE START OF THE FAMOUS RIFF!!!

  • the original song fucking sucks, this is brilliant

shoot me, i have an opinion

  • @Justbechillman

    BANG!

    Hahaa

  • goddammit, this rules so hard

  • wow, as soon as the riff kicked in...i was in a state of awe

  • this is brilliant, the drummer is immense, best demonstrated on the cover of aphextwin-flim that they do. whoop

  • Haha. I love the little musical innuendos the drummer adds in.

  • yoo these guys are sick.

    great cover

  • i don't know how it's possible, but i think i can safely say that this is even heavier than the original.

  • I completely agree. He kills this song on piano. And David King is probably the best drummer in the world.

  • I was going to give this comment a thumbs down, but, you are entitled to your opinion. I just hope one day your ears will mature.

  • i'm really shocked that anyone could possibly say that. what's your reasoning?

  • Awesome!

  • better than the original. love it

i think i can safely say that the bad plus is my favorite group

  • lol, bad plus = creator of "HEADBANGING JAZZ"! :D

  • Μπράβο...Η μουσική δεν έχει σύνορα. και αυτά τα παιδιά εδώ είναι το γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά αυτό

  • This song is amazing - one of my favorites. They rock it even harder than Sabbath did. Also, I love the major refrain they throw in there. And yes, their drummer is WAY fucking intense. I mean they all are, but, ya know.

  • major

  • They play both. The major comes in at 4:38.

  • damn, their drummer is intense

  • True metal! More brutal than anything I've ever heard!

  • @IMeMine2882 ManOwaR FIGHT FOR TRUE METAL!

  • @seanyfarrell manowar is gay metal about dragons and mountains and shit

    sabbath is the shit

  • classical music started metal, you DORKS

  • ...um...

  • Last time I checked, this was jazz, not classical.

  • good job captain no shit

  • damn

wow this is where its at

  • Antheil was more metal than Sabbath. He put a pistol on his piano during his performance to intimidate an unruly audience.

  • hey what do you know? A bunch of fags who don't know shit arguing about who "started" metal. No one person started metal!!!! music is in constant evolution. rock simply and slowly turned more aggressive and dark.

    P.S. Fuck you

  • The story goes that due to Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath losing the tips of his fingers and him needing to wear thimbles in order to play guitar, the phrase heavy metal was born.

  • @hobbsbd822 blues - blue cheer

  • @hobbsbd822

Respect. A lot of hard rock and progressive bands started to play some harder riffis in late 60s and early 70s but that was not metal. That only caused the creation of metal sound that is harder than hard rock.

  • @hobbsbd822 Metal didnt even come from rocc, it came from blues & classical

  • I love the musical joke they throw in here.

  • this is fucking metal.

  • heavy metal was started by satan....no mere mortal soul could conjure such righteousness

  • they culd, thy are named black sabbath and they existe before the metal be bullshit

  • hendrix and iron maiden were the beginning of metal. Actually, a reporter went to a hendrix show and wrote, in his review the next day, that it sounded like "heavy metal falling from the sky".

  • Sabbath came before Maiden. But yes, Maiden can also be regarded as one of the first. I would however credit Sabbath before Maiden for metal.

  • 666 piano

  • The bad plus is amazing. Their album "These are the Vistas" is the best...

  • Im going to have to disagree and say that Give is the best album.

  • i disagree, Suspicious Activity? is the best

  • Agreed!!!

  • Never would in my life would I expect metal to come from a jazz trio. Heavy!!

  • but the original band who wrote the song i'm pretty sure was the first metal band alive.

  • iron man is hardly metal as much as you are hardly an idiot.

  • This song is amazing

    BUY THE ALBUM

  • Dude, I don't like Iron Man, but I love the cover. And I don't like jazz. Nice vid though ;-)
