LOL Unemployment insurance is paid by em0ployers on each worker. when the fund is depleted because of high unemployment or extended benefits gov pick up the tap. But gov. has no money it gets its money from peoples taxes. So it has to take money from a worker to give it to a a non or unemployed worker. It is a wash. It takes money out of the economy. Very simply, if someone has a job making $1,000 a week and gets laid off, they don't make $1,000 a week anymore. Unemployment insurance only pays a percentage of a person's former salary, a maximum of $600 per week. This person will actually be spend less money than they did when they had a job. Where does the $600 come from? The government has to borrow from the private sector, in order to pay it, thus further reducing the economic effect.
