Jakarta is behind with everything except in pollution , traffic , overpopulation , garbage . Biking is a small hype but wont be like the Blackberry mania that's what people are more concerned about.

Hm, I'd surely go biking to work providing facilities are given, such as biking lane straight from my place in bekasi right up to Kebayoran. Otherwise, I wouldn't risk myself get mixed up and bumped from behind by bajaj, gerobak, cars, buses, taxi, motorcycle, pfff...It's too much...besides gov't. must also provide me with a soap and a bathroom in my nearby office for me to take a bath again.

Haha what's your problem? Any solution towards the pollution (and traffic congestion) problems should be welcomed. Daripada capek nunggu Monorail & MRT ga jadi2, mending naik sepeda aja!

Besides, bicycles are very pretty. Cities with lots of cyclists like Beijing, Amsterdam, and Ho Chi Minh city are really pretty! Far better than those ubiquitous motorbikes in Jakarta...ugh I hate them!

These cities are provided with the facility, especially Amsterdam. the gov't. provided them with a special lane for biking. So, biker are safe & comfortable using their bike there. But here? do you dare biking without special lane and getting mixed up bajaj, bus, bla...bla?..Do you dare biking from bekasi to jakarta-pusat? Amsterdam is organized, there's no black smoke coming out of metromini, kopaja, etc. Pls 'lah do not be so naive...

Amsterdam, yes. But facilities in Vietnam? Don't make me laugh. It's time we should stop complaining about the lack of facilities and do what we can for the environment. Besides, I'm not saying that EVERYONE should cycle to work. I'm just saying that this is a SOLUTION, however imperfect it should be commended. I have a few friends who live in Kebayoran and they DO cycle to work from time to time. Granted, they're hardcore environmentalists, but I'm saying it CAN be done. Stop being so negative.

Thank you! I am not being negative but we only have a different point of view on this respect. I am only trying to be objective on how dangerous biking to work is for your health because of the pollution. Besides you must take care of your safety when biking to work.
