This guy is so fucking negative! go shoot yourself miserable fuck! eradicate this asshole from Youtube! I hate to be this negative myself but this guy is inspiring people not to go to college and become a fucking cheap animator like himself!
@drewmaster77 It's true, that's what I meant by "affirmative action pronoun", they ARE compensating for the lack of girls. Though, just cause it's male dominated doesn't mean it should be.
It inspired this BAD programmer to be a programmer because he has a penis, and not because he actually knows how to program! There's nothing inherently male about this field, it was invented by a woman.
Sorry if the joke seemed rude, I guess that just goes to show that sexism isn't cool, which is MY point.
@SweatyGrip I definitely sound like a shrill bitch when I get offended. Congratulations you are the first person to win an argument on the interwebs. You should be super proud. Put this on your resume.
@Ms4dmin "Affirmative action" is not compensation for anything. It's a racist and sexist law made by mentally disturbed persons (i.e. bleeding heart liberals) that should be banned fast.
@hardstyle905 yeah, I didn't say I agree with it, just that that's the idea behind it. Things are pretty equal these days, at least in my part of the world. There's no reason for it.
Actually, no, programming wasn't invented by a Woman. And the fact that there are mostly male programmers isn't a problem with the people hiring programmers - there simply aren't that many women that actually want to become programmers. Which is somewhat related to the fact that many women do have various negative stereotypes of programming (and other engineering professions or sciences).
@narutofan9999 True, not a lot of women want to do programming. But I disagree about who invented programming, I've always thought it was Ada Lovelace :
Fuegi J, Francis J (October–December 2003). "Lovelace & Babbage and the creation of the 1843 'notes'". Annals of the History of Computing 25 (4): 16–26. doi:10.1109/MAHC.2003.1253887
If that's not credible enough, feel free to investigate further, I suppose.
Ada Lovelace is often accredited to be the first programmer, which is not incorrect in some sense. I personally dislike saying that "X is the first who ever did Y", especially in fields such as mathematics and programming, because very often many people are working simultaneously on the same things, sometimes in cooperation, but also often without even knowing of the others work, or maybe deriving their work from that of others. Though the ENIAC programmers were women...
@narutofan9999 But the ENIAC programmers were basically just secretaries, right? They surely didn't relate to any of the mathematical/algorithmic concepts a modern programmer/Lovelace could. I'm sure there were a lot of other "first programmers" , like there are many multiple firsts (calculus: was it Leibniz or Newton?) It's a shame, at my school we don't really study history of computing as part of a computer science degree :/
You're right, but most (if not all, not sure right now) did have university degrees in related fields, so we can assume they at least really knew what they were doing.
We don't have actual history classes (well, in my university model we don't really have classes in this sense anyways, but w/e) either, but that doesn't stop out profs from talking about it though. And if I'm not mistaken, our math prof actually took history of mathematics as a course.
@narutofan9999 Haha, yeah, our professors love computer science story time - I can't count how many times I've heard the same story about dropping a stack of punch cards, or an infinite while loop that meant the machine had to be shut down :P
I'm not sure I would be so attracted to this field if this was the 60's - it seems more glamorous and less tedious these days, unless you are an assembly programmer.
@sharewndws does she actually write code? Throughout my career (I worked in several big software companies) I havent seen a single girl programmer. In our university there were two girls in CS major, but they were the "I didnt write a line of code" kind of students. Yet its funny how alot of CS books when referring to a programmer in third person will say "she". Not to be sexist but I dont think its a girls job. Maybe when feminists figure out CS is actually a good job we will see more girls.
@drawmaster77 web programmer. she has worked with many male groups and feels overwhelmed at times. she also goes to a university. if i see her on guild wars again i will cyber her and get back to you if i learn anything after.
@drewmaster77 I'm a 22 year old female Java developer, and I absolutely love my job. This drewmaster guy seems like an ass. I notice that old female programmers seem pretty bitter about the sexist stuff, perhaps because of the old chauvanist men? Dunno. The only time I noticed was when someone screamed "This socket's not listening! " and I was like "oh is it a man?" I look around.... everyone is a man. No one laughs except me. Whatever. I've just gotten good at being awkward
@Ms4dmin I didnt find the joke funny either, sounds rude to me. But you just made my point - you look around - everyone is a man. There is like 5% women in CS (I am not talking about web design and all that junk, as its not really programming), yet you would see she-gender mentioned in CS books, videos showing female programmers, etc.Its like we are trying to compensate for something perhaps?
@drewmaster77 Wow I hope you don't work at Idexx Laboratories - you might see me, being a girl and writing Java apps - AT THE SAME TIME!!! I actually haven't encountered any sexism so far, only on the internet. Oh, or if they're old men. Are you old?
Our laziest programmer is this guy, gets pissy if I don't hand over code or write it for him. I try to be a good teacher and not give all answers.
It's true, textbooks use those damn affirmative action pronouns, doesn't make me feel any better
@Ms4dmin sorry I dont work there, ms Lady Java, and I dont really care :) But I have to say I am REALLY proud of you. Java apps is the REAL stuff. Keep it up!
@omaifakingad the difference is usually that guys do the 'grunt' work. Girls are either bitch on internet how badass of a female programmers they are, or design some web pages. No difference indeed.
@drawmaster77 Bitching? I'm defending myself against assholes like yourself! PS writing moving averages from scratch in Java seems like grunt work to me, and I still love my job. I'm too young to be this bitter, why do I ever pay attenton to stupid youtube comments.... I guess if I could reason with the chauvinist retards there would BE no chauvinist retards. Sigh.
@drawmaster77 Maybe a lot of women are simply not INTERESTED in programming/ engineering/ whatever. Ever thought of that? Still, some sick people want to enforce a gender/race quota, which in my mind, promotes anything BUT equality.

@Ms4dmin No it wasn't. All of Ada's "programs" have been attributed to Babbage. It's a myth, kept going because of shrill bitches like you.
