No. Not heat from friction. In order to make the brief sparks visible, camera was placed on night setting. This messes up colors. The orange light is just a copper alligator clip, which has the room light reflecting off of it.

holy is that orange light in the back the copper wire heating up from friction? because orange hot means that thing must be spinning pretty damn fast
