  • I was such a young kid when Car Wash came out and my Mom dropped me and my brother off at the theater to see this movie. Being Mexican it was just to cool. This was my favorite song for so long. And I did wana get next to a girl so bad. Made me Kool.

Still love it to this day. Do the math. What year did Car Wash come out? I was there. 10 year old in San Jose, Ca.

  • Late 70's working in a record store in NYC. I was 20 and living alone in Brooklyn.

  • growing up in the 1970's u probably heard it all (funkadelic, peter frampton, queen, grace jones, u name it). do u remember the movie 'saturday night live'? anybody who saw it back when it first came out probably like it. u may not have bought the album but i bet u still liked the movie and the music. car wash was the exact same experience but the music was extraordinary in comparison.

  • This white boy-old Guy now. loves this music. I always have. Thanks for sharing.

  • sooo sweet mum used to do her best to hide my afro american hair god bless her rip

  • These are my songs I grew up with. I really didn't the meaning of them until I got older. Keep up on the old school jams as they all have meanings to them all. :)

  • good song love this old music

  • this kinda song made white boys like me buy JB's "say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud".back in '67....screw race, good music is good music, btw yes, I know this was a few years later,, point made

  • @sirwob - No sweat, bro, I'm with you on this one. Love this song.

  • This is originally frm carwash..

  • The 70s have great music :)

  • "hi u guys".... "hey..."

  • I wanted to get next to Chakka Khan way back then !!!!!!!!!!

  • YES! The movie "Car Wash" highlighted this entire album. If you were alive during that time, or if you were even an embryo you had to catch this on one level or another. The 50 dislikes have to be from people who were born recently...the generation "y" dummies. You're called generation "y" because none of the rest of us can understand why (or "y") the hell any of you were ever conceived. Go look at Justin Beiber videos, you idiotic pieces of excrement.

  • @Rabshakeh9

and don't forget the lovely "millenial generation(born around '93)....they are the reason bad music gets made and stays in the culture....unless you run across one who doesn't have helicopter parents who gave them a little gumption to do something/anything and instilled some manners, socialization, work ethic, and compassion in them...don't let me go on...

  • @Rabshakeh9 yep!

  • defines smooth ..

  • When the movie " Car Wash " came out their whole album was playing throughout this movie. Car Wash and Rose Royce are one of my favorite movies and r&b groups. If you have never seen Car Wash you need to see it. Classic 70's movie with great music.

  • @educatorpoet No I have never seen that movie , will go look for it , Being a 70s movie classic , it might be hard to find .

  • @michellenjames1 I think Rabshakeh9 was talking about "Saturday Night Fever" with John Travolta. Saturday Night Live is a comedy show, started in the 70's

  • @michellenjames1 ...Wow! I purchased Car Wash and Cooley High on dvd along time ago when I had joined BMG Music and movies. I think I was in college then. I'm glad I did because it is for sure a classic. You may want to try and see if you can google it and see if you can purchase. Try amazon.com they normally got any and everything you are looking for. Good Luck!

  • @educatorpoet right on man.....thet coincided with the opening of(at the time)s.Texas' biggest newest...."windsor park mall"....

  • You have to wonder...... How can someone "dislike" music like this? Don't get me wrong. Everyone has their own tastes and preferrances, but to dislike a classic song like this?! That is just beyond me. Probably some kids who just don't get what real music is.
