  • Is the army a good branch to go to become a firefighter?

  • @G3CK0117 airforce is best.

  • @G3CK0117 That is if you want to be doing the job as a firefighter.

  • UUHH FIRE SHINY ...*TOUCH*

  • hmmmm fire, very interesting.....

  • LOL look at those 1980 computers!

  • "Heavy Objects" AKA Fat Asses.

  • @zekedillon LOL!

  • hey guys i need help where do u get deployed to if u get this mos

  • @tanner511 anywhere there is a base, we even had a group in the AF almost deployed to an army convoy.

  • damit i hate heights!!...lol

  • dont eat beans in this mos xD

  • im afraid of hights and i made it thru the fire training in san angelo, den i went to Ocala florida and did the rescue tech training for level 1& 2 .. now i work at a factory as a high angle rescue tech.... dont ever let anyone u cant do anything. mind over matter Hooah!!! FIREDAWGS!!!

  • @dementegg SRY "to tell you, you cant do something.. u can do anything you set ur mind too"

  • wow this video old, still in old camo

  • darn, I don't qualify for this lol

  • When I talk to recruiters they say this job is no longer available.... Why?

  • I think these MOS have too low of standards

  • If I was going to die in the army I would do it in 19D or 11B. I can just be a firefighter at home no prob. I might join the Army reserves as an Infantry man and at the same time be a volounteer firefighter at home. That would be cool

  • a firefighter and a soldier at the same time = super dad

  • Ya i had a high enough score on my asvab for this but they said that they're using civilians for this now...... bummer

  • You know the military is getting rid of military firefighters in favor of more civilian ones. It is one of the hardest jobs to get in the military.

  • To qualify you must not fear heights, confine spaces NOR HAVE AN UNUSUAL INTEREST IN FIRE. LMAO!

  • @SuperChargedMustang now i cant do it LOL

  • do u still have to learn how to shoot the m16 and m4s even though ur going to be a 21m and do u carry the weapon on firefighter duty

  • everyone in the ARMY learns BRM (basic rifle marksmanship) regardless of ur MOS.

  • of course man....you are a soldier fisrt firefighter second

  • Even though the Air Force is the way to go for firefighting, its still hard to get into.

  • dont join the army im telling you after 3 months of shit that ended in a discharge... go airforce

  • prolly cuz your an idiot and didnt listen to your DS

  • i want to enlist with this mos but i heard theres almost no slots to get in...does anyone know if thats true or not

  • not true, just had multiple slots in my unit

  • It is true! The military is going with more civilian firefighters.

  • haha you cant have an unusual interest in fire

  • I'm thinking about joining the Army as a 21M Firefighter.

But I hear Air Force is the way to go if you want Firefighting.

  • they are going to be phasing 21 M Firefighter out soon. Air force for firefighting is the way to go I have heard as well.

  • well thats what we all got told kid. no one could believe that we got this mos. like it is stated above. be aware that the regualr army doesnt know how to deal with us. the only place youre gonna be treated as a firefighter is at Ft Rucker Al. you'll see what i mean if you come to ft hood or go anywhere else. i think a lewis they get treated ok but not here. Oh we get to fight fire with the civilians but our command sux! get used to hearing " YOURE A SOLDIER FIRST"

  • I am glad to see that the training is continuing. I was a FireFighter Instructor when I was in the Army I loved every minute of it. I am now a certified fire instructor in Ohio. Keep up the good work.

  • nor have an unusual interest in fire LOL

  • not if you are in the reserves or national gurad but be prepared if you come active duty. I am at ft hood with the 20th engineer bn. We get fucked on a constant basis by our command. They treat us like our job is a privilege. so be prepared. be very prepared. go airforce or marines if you want this job. and that aint no shit

  • Is it still dificult to get this MOS?

  • I just lucked out yesterday with 21M. This MOS is a rare find I lucked out and am so grateful. Just so you all know, because of such demand there are no enlistment bonuses nor loan repay and it comes with a 5yr term. The certificiations available are plenty. Do the research. I ship out on Oct/21 to Fort Leonard Wood for BT and Goodfellow AFB for AIT... YES!!! I get to help serve our troops. How sweet it is. Guys even my recruiter was impressed, he never has seen anyone get in.

  • Is this a hard MOS to get?

This is all I want to do. Do you deploy a lot?

  • its not the pt is crucial....it dosent get deployed alot

  • YEA H I WANT TO DO THIS

  • this is wat im doin in two years

  • This MOS is no longer active.

  • is that really true?

  • No, it's still in the systems.

  • Oh really? I am a 21M (51M) I have been one since 2001. get your facts strait before you pop off.

  • oh really? because when i went in to pick my MOS these were the recruiters exact words 'this MOS is no longer available, its being taken over by civilians". in fact, on the job sheet, he crossed out 21M. I never said there weren't any 21M, or 51M. I said it was no longer available.

  • so you are telling me that a recruter that hasn't ever worked in the MOS knows better than some one who actually works in the MOS? I am a 21M. I have been since 2001. it is out there, it is hard to get. they only open a few slots a year.

Civis are working for the army, but their is still active duty Firefighters, Ft. Rucker has the largest concentration of them at almost 75 troops.

Care to argue more? I got plenty of ammo to back me up. and plenty of troops.

  • I'm telling you that the person in charge of giving new army jobs is saying that the mos isn't available. I think he should know, considering he deals with new recruits

  • and I am telling you that they are still taking new people, he dosn't know, if you are presistent, a slot will open up. I know I did it. they are spinning up new Firefighter units everywhere. google search for "US Army + 21M" Top 4 links back me up, to include One from Goarmy, com. people at MEPs are trained to get you suckered into a combat MOS, and will tell you anything to get you in to one, and away from MOS's like firefighter.

  • considering that my recruiter tried to get me in anything but a combat position, i think that's false. All im telling you is what i was told, i go in for pt on Thursday, im more than willing to get a written statement

  • I'm telling you. it is still a active MOS. you are going to be dissapointed in the future when you encounter people that got the MOS and went in at the same time you did. depending on where you go to basic, I wouldn't be supprized if you run into someone there that has the MOS. if you really want to be a 21M you have to be presistant.

  • In addition, if you have the Testicular Fortitude, go to facebook and look up "U.S. Army Firefighters"

in the "Business - Employment & Work" section of "groups," their is a group of us there, try going in there and saying we don't exist, you will be suprized. You'll soon realize you can't always trust what recruters and the guys at MEPs say. BTW if you don't mind me asking what MOS are you going into?

  • im a 19d. My recruiter only crossed out fire fighter, he left all other options open. I doubt that is the case in this situation. I doubt facebook is the most trustworthy source however.

  • I see you are from the seattle area, and most likely are going thought the Seattle MEPs, I speak from experence, I went thought Seattle MEPs, 21M is still active, and taking Troops. the Facebook group is all troops I worked directly with at Ft. Rucker or Goodfellow AFB for AIT, one of the members there was a recruter. they would eat you alive if you went in there and called them a non "trustworthy source"

  • in addition I am done arguing with you. Your constant presistance to beleive a un-true fact is mind boggeling, you'll learn eventually. have fun as a Cav Scout, witch By the way is a COMBAT MOS, contridicting your previous statements.

  • By the way, did you read that i said he tried to get me into something that wasn't a COMBAT MOS, i didn't say i wasn't in one did i? and im just telling you guys what the Kent recruiting office told me, and every other recruit (about 40 or so of us). like Ive been saying, im just telling you guys what i was told.

  • Nor have an unusual interest in fire!! ROFL!! talk about pyro-phile

  • Darn it, And I was so going to join. All of my childhood dream down the tube, just because I'm a pyro...

  • Yeah I wanted to do this MOS as active but since its only for Reserves or NG I decided to go with 68W.

  • This is interesting i want to go to the army and be a firefighter.

  • no they are not. you can still get the mos in a reserve or guard unit. they havent phased it out.

  • sorry but the army is phasing out this MOS to civilian departments since posts are surrounded by civilians its easier since there is not many fires on base

  • It's still active.

  • ya i wanted this MOS for active but i couldnt get it so i went with MP but u can get this MOS in reserver or NG

  • I have this mos, going to basic this summer. Air Force or Navy is much easier to get into though if you want to be a firefighter.

  • Reserve or national guard?

  • National guard, my recruiter had to pull some strings.

  • As soon as i get my legal situation straight i'm enlisting as a 21M in the US army.
