Grew up around and playing with Vic and Futureman in the same area. I remember when Bela heard Vic play. He grabbed him up instantly. We had and still have some tough musicians in the area.
I don't where he pick up Jeff, but I'd hate to have him blow me away in front of a crowd.
Victor is the man! from my home town too. I met him back in 94 when i got on a drumset and next thing i know is this silly little guy plugs in and goes off in a epic manner, little did i know he was doing a bass clinic here in Norfolk at A,L & M that day.
ye something like this, so conceptually brilliant, complex, or just plain awesome could actually cause many of those tiny brains of your average mainstream fan to go into a coma, or even be fatal. they can only handle the same simple stuff done over and over by different people.
my dad heard jeff coffin when the flecktones where on conan and he said he made kenny g look tired (although its not that hard to do now a days...sorta).
@titotrevino66 Whilst i completely agree that they're champions at what they do, 17/8 isn't all that alien of a signature, it's just three 4's and a 5
@titotrevino66 sounds like alternating 4/4 and 9/8 you fucking RETARD
kidding kidding i actually have no idea how they wrote it
you're right these guys are gods among. they remind me of a jazz version of the band dream theater. not only because of all the odd time signatures they use, but just because of the quality of the musicians.
jeff coffin came to my school with his mut'tet and was awesome he even cracked me in front of every one for two min. because of my big bass hands .What an honor. I hope to meet him again soon !!!!
This was my first impression of the Flecktones. Now I'm hooked.

And Béla joins in seamlessly with his own interpolations. Master musicians, all of them!

Is Mr. Fleck becoming the love child of Benny hill and 'arry potter ?
Bartendertastic 1 year ago 2
no, its not 4/4 and 9/8. its 17/8, 7 groups of 2 eighth notes and that bad ass group of 3 at the end of each measure.
