Arming the dor is making sure that the emergencey escape slide is in order in case of an evacuation. Cross check is where the flight attendants make sure that the doors are armed and the flag is placed across the window to make sure that the food people dont open the door or the slide will deploy

@houstontexan36 The flag only goes over the window on older aircraft - specifically B737. On most aircraft the slides will automatically disarm if the door is opened from the outside.....
