  • How is your coffee shop powered?

  • Coal right now. But not forever.

  • Yeah I was just wondering. I know it's pretty hard to use an alternative energy source.

  • Some alternative communities are pretty cool.

Something I looked into years ago.

    "Having s strategy" Yes!

    Great vlog.

  • Thanks.

  • Very good point, once again. Thanks, a.

  • Thanks.

  • Nice video - and good point.

Personally, I a feel a certain level of anger toward the baby boomers for their lack of action and complete, long term, rejection of most everything they said the believed in.

-- An economy for sustenance, is a good place to start.

    - And could I say, these boomers are looking to us to support them in their later years. REALLY? This is not a good situation going forward.

  • I'll support the baby boomers, but not the culture they're apart of.

  • hehe

the hippies didn't use enough explosives.

  • XLnT, man.

    this economy must be stopped.

trees are mass-murdered just a few miles from my home.

  • Joel Salatin is an amazing beacon of sanity in all this. Great practical advice for the aspiring homesteader. He has other good books, too.. Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal is a great illumination of the beaurocratic red tape, cronyism and outright antagonism Salatin had to face as a small, entreprenurial farmer.

"Pastured Poultry Profit$" is a great book on making good money in a low-overheard eco-friendly poultry operation.

Andy Lee's "Chicken Tractor" is another good one.

  • The Farm Community in Summertown, Tennessee is still alive!

    I was just there.

I guess I'd flip your idea around and say it was society's failure to listen to the message of love and cooperation. But that's if you agree that they failed. I think even this speaker (Adam) alluded to the permanence of the core values of the hippy movement. So if the values didn't die, DID they fail?

We must look for new names for the same thing - "Permaculture" for instance.

  • Thanks, Adam

  • You bring up some really great points. I mean, we can even have the ideals of hippies while not abandoning everything. And then, on the flip side, we CAN live off of the land and be self-sustaining but that is a commitment that requires an initial investment so that no debts (or very little debt is left) so that the needed income is very very low...at least that is always how I've felt it would apply to my life. I work on growing my own vegetables and sewing and knowing how to do so things.

  • Have you heard of "You Can Farm" by Joel Salatin. I think you'd love it.

  • I have not heard of this so thank you very much!!!

  • when people call me a hippy I usually say hippies are dead like jesus and dinosaurs. They even had a funeral for them selves but they live on in spirit..

,,And that I'm not a hippy, jesus or dinosaur=)

I read a good book on hippy/yippi movement once I forget it's name

  • I see it the same way. What's going on now is different and more refined.

  • One who builds a healthy sphere of relationship, defines a balanced, revolving dance of concentric circular realities... in which to ply their rhythm...

    We*Shall -R- Succeeding ;)

  • Yes.

  • have you ever read 'Lies My Teacher Told Me' by James W. Loewen?

  • yes that's a godd'n

  • I'll have to check that out. Thanks.
