  • You could just souplex from standing with a bear hug, or souplex with an arm in in both positions.

  • what a good teacher, especially for someone so young

  • will this also work on a guy who does wizzer? Wizzer in standing..

    Thx for the vids.

  • This could probably work as a defense against a hip toss as well.

  • Excellent! Thanks!!!!!

  • Very good demonstration, great videos, keep up the good work.

  • rolling knee bar!

  • thank you SO much for making thisvideo. I cant wait when my brother trys a headlock on me again

  • Thought you did a good job teaching that bud. I have a few other things if you want to have me show you. let me know thanks

  • youra good instructor keep it up

  • thts def. not a front headlock thts just in a headlock postition and there no way tht can work

  • when you will pratice them you must go to an gym! fact

what do think? you can learn grappling skills on tube without opponents? never!

looks good but in a real brawl you must pratice that for 1 or 2(better 3 or 4) years

  • Thank you for taking the time to prepare and post. I have 2 kids who are trying wrestling this year and for beginners getting into a headlock always seems to happen.

  • That's called a two on one; grabbing his wrist and forearm with your hands. My only question is what person is dumb enough to try a headlock in an mma fight?

  • @Blndrfist Not exactly for an MMA situation...

  • @TechniquePrevails fair enough; good technique though otherwise.

  • @TechniquePrevails I learned with KravMaga that I should first hit his groin with my hand, but if the person is insane it wouldn't work correctly and I can use that, which doesn't rely on pain perception. Thank you

  • @TechniquePrevails First? Carlos Newton won the Welterweight title from Pat Miletich with a variation of the schoolyard head lock. Secondly? Jon Jones used the front headlocks versus Rampage Jackson to take Page down and eventually get his back and submit him. There are all kinds of headlocks, including the front and side head lock which has can is and WILL keep being used in MMA fights, real street fights and other competitions.

  • @Blndrfist if you listened...someone requested a vid for this...meaning someone was getting put in it

  • @Blndrfist he says wrestler's headlock

  • @Blndrfist that person could be attempting a headlock throw or a head and arm throw

  • @Blndrfist This dumbass kid keeps trying to do it at my MMA Class

  • in the second variation, how risky is it to roll yourself into the mount if he is able to stall or counter your sweep?

Is it possible for uke to circle his inside leg to the outside of tori's left leg, to prevent tori from completing the roll? That would put you in a really bad position...

  • now can this be used in a wrestling match? I have a friend that coach's high school wrestling this could be a good thing to show him...

  • @theusednick idts, both arms would be used to put the headlock on the guy since they wouldnt be punching, so there's no arm to control

  • What kind of wrestler's headlock is this? Freestyle? You're not allowed to do this in folkstyle and it's not used in Greco so its a freestyle move i assume? No disrespect just curious

  • then when you are on mount, stick your thumb in his eye, bite his throat and rip it clean out

  • very nice. a nasty option obviously meant for street self defense and you really don't like the guy is to do what i call "monk starting the lawn mower". quite simply you grab him by the balls and lift and crank in the same motion you would use to start a lawn mower.

  • great stuff ,

  • Dats a goood reversal:)

  • I've used the first one when fooling around with my friends. Works great on them. I wonder how badly this would hurt on asphalt...if I were tougher, I'd try it. Tanks!

  • sheer badassery.

    nice video

  • there is a really good scape by Bass rutten. but is dangerous because when you land you can break break you opponents ribs

  • @cuevasdecamuy please show me the escape by Bass Rutten that your talking about , thanks in advance.

  • Bas has a self defense series here on YouTube. 1-11. Look through the last 5, I believe, and in there is the escape that dude is talking about. It is awesome. Remember, Bas believes in "two eyes for an eye" so he makes people pay for their attacks. Hope this helps.

  • Cool stuffs

  • good

but this isn't really a "wrestler's headlock". A "wrestler's headlock" is actually a hip throw. In wrestling, a headlock means controlling the head and arm like a scarf hold, but standing up, then hip-throwing them into a scarf-hold.

But I think we know what you mean :P I just don't know any wrestler in his right mind who head do what's on the video :D

  • I really like the first version, but the second looks like it is more likely to land in a half guard than mount.

  • another one that I did accidentally.

You have to do it early before they develop a strong hold, but what I did was grab his wrist, and put my hand in his middle back, I pulled his wirst just slightly off my neck and slipped behind him, so I had his wrist and his back, threw in a knee to the back of the leg and corked it XD

  • me with my power i pick them up elbow up and come down pushing

  • @DBZfan1433 yep just work on our neanderthal image dude, its always better to have ppl to underestimate u.

  • You must be a wrestler.

  • Whats the point of grabbing the shoulder before getting wrist control when you can get wrist control first anyway?

  • Because the chance of you just reaching out and grabbing his wrist while he punching is very low. The shoulder has much less mobility than the point at the end of his arm- therefore is much easier for you to reach out and grab. It's just a way to locate the wrist as just grabbing for it is highly unrealistic when you are being punched and off balanced by your opponent.

  • I'd suggest going for the elbow. It isn't as far as the shoulder so works if you are smaller than your opponent, has far less movement in the punching arc than the hand so still makes it quite a bit easier than going for the hand or wrist.

  • If that works for you, then definitely stick with it. Thanks for watching, and please check out the site.

  • @bounce510 this wont work. in streetfights, as soon as the the guy senses your hand coming up to trap his elbow, he can simply arch it back. I agree, it isnt as far to reach, but unlike the shoulder its still a stretch, and lower percentage...

  • so this is why no one could ever get ultimate warrior in a headlock

  • I dont think this would work if your trying it on a good wrestler because they dont teach you to have your hand unlock for a headlock and even in mma they dont teach you to give up ur back. It could work and Im sure people have used it, so maybe i will try it at wrestling practise if i get in a headlock.

  • It's more of a self-defense situation. I would personally start with a kimura grip to a rolling kneebar- but they don't teach that in wrestling either...

Thanks for watching, and please check out the site.

  • Simply: this is not a wrestler's headlock, but his "street poor version".

...But this countermove can work ...Against small people.

  • Lol- you wrestler's crack me up. So defensive... However, thanks for the kind words...

P.S.- it works against big opponents too, when done correctly.

  • Well, i'm not a wrestler.

I'm a pro wrestler and former national champion in BJJ, so i respect and love this style.

It works with slightly bigger opponent, but if he overweight you by 50 kg you better find something different.

It remains a nice tecnique however...

P.S.: but this is not a wrestler's headlock, but a "catch and punch"

  • Fair enough. Thanks for watching and for adding your input.

  • a proffessional wrestler with a bjj background, wow .

  • this is why some female vale tudo fighter prefers a cartwheel when going against headlocks.

  • stomp the foot. stike the groin. upward pressure to his nose and drop him to the floor.

  • LOL- someone's watched Mrs. Congeniality...

  • na...Krav Maga.

  • Stomping the foot from behind is difficult to execute while you are being punched in the face and someone is controlling your body with the headlock. Great technique if you can get it off before they have firmly established control though.

  • You have to do whatever it takes. I generally stay away from foot stomping because I live in GA and a LOT of people (including myself) are wearing steel-toe boots.

  • This is almost like the sweep we learned we just finish with an arm bar after sweeping them on to there side... still this is a good move for a street fight as well cause alot of times going for the arm bar you get tossed and end up on your back if you don't base before attempting it... this way you just end up on top at that point the fight is near over.

  • usefull info there...
