that icy tone he produces..ABM: the pianist's pianist, descended from mount olympus to show what pianistic perfection is to mortals. famous story about his ravel/rach recording sessions : Michelangeli refused to do retakes. so he just sat down and recorded everything without a break and then left the studio, and the orchestra then had the embarssing task of patching over their mistakes without him. but on his part, None was detected, as usual.

i just listen Glenn Gould, playing this Beethoven number 5 concerto, with Karl Ancerl conduccting. I love Walter Kempf, Claudio Arrau and this great and elegant Giulinni.
It is possible to play in this way it only in Heaven!!!!! Master, we're sure that you could play with The Angels and They wil be happy to hear such a beautiful music!
I love ABM and don't look for mistakes when listening to music - but it is said about ABM that he never makes mistakes, so I would like someone more knowledgable in music than me confirm that the chord at 2:59 hit some wrong key or other. just curious
yes there is a wrong note. it's a Gb, which is not in the key of Eb. Wrong notes happen to EVERYBODY, including Rachmaninoff, Michelangeli or anyone else you happen to mention. makes no difference to how increadible the artists are though :-)
This was absolutely fabulous!!! Thank you for posting this! ONe to compare this one to would be the same piece played by Murray Perahia, directed by Sir Neville Marriner

His playing of the candenza of the first movement of Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor is absolute best.Technical mastery to the absolute summit.
