My Nephew in Oregon just got arrested for Heroin use. I hope they lock him away from the stuff for a long, long time. But being in prison really won't help him either. Our family isn't sure what to do.

But many people don't want to, so this is a harm reduction alternative, instead of shooting up in the street with dirty needles and spreading diseases all over the place, or OD'ing and being alone, they have a place to do it safely, because they'll do it anyways, some people.

My doctor is up on charges for abusing his position and obtaining opiate prescriptions from other doctors for his own addiction. My doctor was also the most advanced practitioner of nuerological medicine and the only one in the area. He was able to function fine, as he didn't have the financial constraints of having to purchase his drug of choice at inflated prices, and helped a lot of people obtaine some quality of life despite being a "junkie". Do you wish that he could die?

I can't understand how even right wing people are against a place like Insite. If some junky ends up with AIDS because he shares needles out in the street, then he'll end up costing the system an absolute fortune with hospital stays, and for people with no money their pharmaceutical drugs go on the province's tab. So regardless of everything else, a place like this is a very smart economic move in the grand scheme of things.

But many people don't want to, so this is a harm reduction alternative, instead of shooting up in the street with dirty needles and spreading diseases all over the place, or OD'ing and being alone, they have a place to do it safely, because they'll do it anyways, some people.

It's funny how vancouver claims to be so progressive...yet the junkies know to stay in one placeand not bother going to the nice side of town. I visited vancouver many times and never once saw anything like this. they keep it hidden well by luring them to a side of town with free needles and a "safe place" to shoot up. My doctor is up on charges for abusing his position and obtaining opiate prescriptions from other doctors for his own addiction. My doctor was also the most advanced practitioner of nuerological medicine and the only one in the area. He was able to function fine, as he didn't have the financial constraints of having to purchase his drug of choice at inflated prices, and helped a lot of people obtaine some quality of life despite being a "junkie". Do you wish that he could die?
