You lucky son of bitch! Katsu Ohta is a BEAST! Just a fantastic guitarist. Well, I can at least say that I had the pleasure of specifically traveling to Tokyo in 2007 to see Anthem play at Club Citta in Kawasaki, and they fucking ROCKED! I just wish that it was feasible for them to come to Los Angeles. Guess I gotta just get my ass on a plane again. :-) \m/ \m/

@strikeofthesword well. to me EMG pickups are good live mics, because they are active :D . And actually we even cant know what kind of pickups he is using :D .. But he is using duncans in that video. But I'm really sure that he wont be using those when playing live .. well I have had some trouble with duncans when playing live :S
@strikeofthesword I don't have a band right now, but I'm making my own music :S It's really hard to find hard rock/metal players in Finland, Everyone wants to play heavy metal or pop in here :S sick bastards.. And it's really hard to sing, because I'm not so good at it :S
What kind of troubles? I have seymour duncans in my guitar, and I absolutely love 'em. Have performed a couple of times and they seem really good. Any tips would be helpful.
i thought it sounded like Iron Maiden too, but after listening a couple of times, think they sound more like Primal Fear, particularly on that Black Sun album
Speaking of Dio, did any of you ever check out the Munetaka Higuchi's Dream Castle disc where he collaborate with Dio on the song "What Cost War?" Man, that's one of the heaviest songs fucking Dio ever put out. Killer fucking song!!!
I don't know if it was, I got mine from cd japan at the time. I just did an Amazon search and you can get it used for $34.99. I know it's a bit pricey, but it really is a disc that's worth having. Not only does the Dio "What Cost War" song kick ass, but the song "Speed" with Steve Vai is also a fucking killer tune. Hell, the whole disc is rife with good music.
Hey man, you are right in saying that Eizo Sakamoto (vocals) has a bit of Dio going on. I just got the CD called "Stand Proud," and Eizo sings on a lot of the songs. Anyway, one of them is Dio's "We Rock," and gawd dammit he songs like him. You ought to check that shit!!!!!
It's just a series of CD's sold under the name "Stand Proud." A Japanese guitarist named She-Ja headed up the first one, and Naoto Shibata led the 2nd release of it. There's actually three out. Anyway, do a search for "Stand Proud" on cd japan and it'll pop right up.
Anthem is virtually unknown outside japan and most japanese guitarist i ever see all play by ear. finding tabs for them is almost impossible unless you email the song to a known tab maker. even then, its kinda iffy if they will really do it right or not.
Yeah, I'm beginning to realize that after weeks of searching for tabs and notation. However, I am still trying to pull the song out by ear and am determined as crap to figure (Insomnia) out Its so darn catchy and it's killing me that I cant quite get how Akio plays it.
I remember hearing this song for the first time a year ago. I was blown away. The whole band is fuckin' talented. Especially the bassist for composing all the bad ass Anthem songs. Also what's really damn cool about these guys is that they sing about kicking ass with out being thrash.
well, i dont play drums, and i want to learn how they work for some music study :P and well if i dont play it, i cant hear it by ear right? yeah and i just wanna tabs for it, to learn them :P

i dont want to JUST study drums xD i want to learn them for my songs in my band, because we dont have a drummer and the songs will get boring will simple drum runnings :P
Trust me, I also have no drummer (I'm a one man band myself) so I do know what it's like to push hard to study drum parts when u're not a drummer. Honma's druming is not that hard if u have some ways to reduce the speed. But don't limit yourself if u can't study this, try another band which has drum parts tabbed, it will be easier, I started like this, and am now able to make my own drum parts (watch my channel).
oh dude....they are the shit. I have played my buddies to no end, and that mo-fo performs like no other amp i have played. I literally went home and sold my Marshall and my Mesa Boogie. It has a Meas Boogie warm tone, but more metal and crisper. Their heads are to die for. Check em out.
Yeah, I did a little research and realized that this is the drummer from EZO. It's the vocalist's style and the timbre of his voice that reminds me of EZO. The production is a bit like Fire-Fire too. I like the way that the guitar and bass mirror each other as well. A BIG FAT sound!
THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE!!! Now I loves me some Loudness, but the driving rhythms these cats pound out are SUPERBLY AGGRESSIVE! The vocals strike me as a cross between Loudness and EZO. This guy can REALLY scream it out, but he's very melodic too. This is such a killer recording too. Sounds like it's right off the board. Great Band. I hope they tour the states soon. This is the only interesting NEW thing I've heard in years.
Thank you for your comments. They are a great band. You ought to be made aware that the drummer Hiro Homma was the drummer for EZO. So, that might explain why you feel they have some similarity. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely Heavy Metal here. These guys have been around since forever and their Metal still sounds fresh and powerful... One word to describe these guys: incredible.
Can you buy this video? the live in the studio Anthem is great !! I"ve loved Anthem since the mid 80's and they just keep on putting out great music!!
I bought mine at the concert at Club Citta in Kawasaki, but you can get it at cd japan. Just do a search for cd japan, then search for Anthem, then choose CORE. That's the name of the compilation that this DVD comes with. You can buy just the audio compilation, or you can get it with this DVD. The material that is on the DVD is not on the CD audio compilation. I'm glad you like it.
Bought their entire discography from CDjapan and received it a day ago. Thanks, strikeofthesword, for putting these vids up or else I would never have discovered such an amazing band.

You can either buy the just the CD, or the CD plus DVD two disc version of this release called "CORE." It's a best of release. However, the CD does not contain these live versions of these four particular songs. I agree with you, there's something raw and thus special about these versions. I also like them better than the studio versions. Buy the DVD and rip the music. Anyway, I'm glad you likes.
I understand, but they aren't famous in the U.S. either. I order the stuff via the internet, and since you're posting on here it is safe to assume that you can also do the same. Anyway, you can always just watch these videos here on youtube. I tell you though, the DVD looks much better. Anyway, I'm really glad that you like the band. Have a good day.

oh dude....they are the shit.

A BIG FAT sound!

yeah..the singer was also in Animetal..

Anthem's new CD, Black Empire, is coming out October 29, 2008.

Can you buy this video? the live in the studio Anthem is great !! I"ve loved Anthem since the mid 80's and they just keep on putting out great music!!
ternsnake 3 years ago
I bought mine at the concert at Club Citta in Kawasaki, but you can get it at cd japan. Just do a search for cd japan, then search for Anthem, then choose CORE. That's the name of the compilation that this DVD comes with. You can buy just the audio compilation, or you can get it with this DVD. The material that is on the DVD is not on the CD audio compilation. I'm glad you like it.

Is there a CD version of this DVD? I love this verison alot, even better than the Studio Version!
Anthem are just amazing.
LeoXmayhem2 3 years ago
You can either buy the just the CD, or the CD plus DVD two disc version of this release called "CORE." It's a best of release. However, the CD does not contain these live versions of these four particular songs. I agree with you, there's something raw and thus special about these versions. I also like them better than the studio versions. Buy the DVD and rip the music. Anyway, I'm glad you likes.

but the problem is that in my country they are not famous. I wanna have an anthem dvd but they are not in sale.
almafuerte4688 3 years ago
I understand, but they aren't famous in the U.S. either. I order the stuff via the internet, and since you're posting on here it is safe to assume that you can also do the same. Anyway, you can always just watch these videos here on youtube. I tell you though, the DVD looks much better. Anyway, I'm really glad that you like the band. Have a good day.

Try cdjapan just Google it. Should be the first one. Thats were I get all of my imports from. There really good but a little expensive.
