  • when i fly a helicopter my fly up every time i want my helicopter to stay at the same height

  • hi there! i am sorry for asking because i am sure you have been asked this a 1000 times but what flight simulator are you using?

  • @spyderspic666 Yeah it's down in the comments. This is RealFlight, I don't remember what version. I've been using Phoenix for helicopters lately, and I think it's a little better.

  • Great tutorial!

I'll soon be receiving my first heli, the Syma S107, a 3 channel IR model. Which (hopefully free online) simulator should I look for, and would I need to buy a "transmitter' , other than the one arriving with the Syma?

    Many thanks!

  • @usernamemykel The Syma flies itself, you don't need a simulator to learn it. It is considerably different from a regular heli and won't teach you much about flying. They are fun to buzz around the house with though. So, have fun but invest in a good radio and Phoenix or Realflight simulator, before you invest in a CP heli.

  • Good video and nice instruction, this would have saved me about 700 dollars had I watched it before crashing a raptor 90 twice. Oh well. Thanks

  • @bennyworldwide Ouch dude :)

That's the way we used to have to do it though! "Crash until you don't any more"

  • Great video and great teaching, thanks for posting Jasmine.

The only thing I hate about learning and practicing on my sim is I find it's a lot easier on the sim than it is with my real heli.

I can fly pretty well on my sim but I suck when trying to fly my actual heli.

My honeybee fp V2 will never sit in a hover from take off, it always wants to move in the same direction whatever way I'm pointing and won't correct when I try to fix it on the Tx. Is it a breeze doing that?

    Thanks again.

  • @AndoAus1 Possibly - there's many issues with the Honey Bee, but they can be made to fly ok with a little work. Trouble is, it usually takes a helicopter expert to figure it out. The issue with the simulator being easier is actually an issue with your real helis - if you get a good quality helicopter and set it up perfectly, it will fly like the simulator. That's what the simulator is simulating - helicopters with perfect setups and no quality issues.

  • @jasmine2501 LOL.... I've put a lot of work into mine. Fixing it,crashing it,fixing it., crashing it. You get the point.

I'm building a HK500GT now because I'm sick of how unstable/easy the Bee is, as I mentioned it just refuses to stay still. So you think after I finish building it take it to a hobby shop and get them to look it over for me and get it working correctly?

If I can just hover and do circuits I would be VERY happy. The only good thing about the Bee I've seen is the cost for parts.

  • @AndoAus1 Yes they are cheap. Setup is important on all helicopters, but harder to do on small helicopters, so maybe you do better with the 500. Make sure to get an expert to fly it for you the first time.

  • I think it's a Real Shame that People are worried about Your "orintation" when they should be thankful that your here to Help new Heli Pilots learn to fly the right way! I know ypur a Great Heli Pilot from Your great Avice & Video's on RC Groups... You seem to be there to help on every Thread I've looked into over the last 2 months & that's all People should be Concerned With! Thank you for All You Do! Mike Evans rcgroups: slick_silver

  • Thank you for this. I just bought a little mcx2 and then decided to get the RealFlight G5.5 simulator. However I didn't know where to begin other than trial an error and that only left me frustrated. I found this helpful in that now I have some idea of what to practice and some pointers on the details that fall outside of simple hover.

  • @afipunkrocksled Groovy! Good to hear! I will eventually be doing lesson 2, which will be forward flying and simple stunts. Already filmed it about 6 months ago, but I have a lot to do obviously. Priority right now is the 450 build stuff and some event videos I've been sitting on for a while.

  • Hi jasmine I have the fms simulator and it just doesnt seem to hold a hover in one place no matter how little stick movement you use. could it be a sim prob or is it just me .. any help appreciated thanx helibrit. use your vids all the time, I did note you use 45% on dx 7 setup vid on swash plate wwas this to tone down the controls..

  • @helibrit swash plate mixing is a completely different thing. Expo can be up to 30 but 45 would be too much. The FMS simulator sucks - but the instability is probably your skill level. Helicopters aren't naturally stable - they require constant management.

  • Nice demo Jasmine. I want to let everyone know that you can change the helicopter model in the training exercises. Just email knife edge software with this question. Flying the Dominion 90 is too easy. Using a smaller heli or even the "worst" helimax axe CP is most productive in skill building.

  • please rename RC heli training!!!

  • Hi, when I use Real Flight Simulator 3.5 , it send me a message ERROR CREATING EFFECT SHADOWBLOB2 AND ERROR CREATING EFFECT SHADOWANTIBLOB2.

I HAVE AN APPLE MACBOOK PRO, AND I USE VMware Fusion, in order to can use windows on mac. could you help me about that?

  • I don't know - it's a problem with your system somehow.

  • what is the name of that Simulator you are using and what PC Requirements are required to play it smoothly?

  • It is RealFlight G3.5 - it requires a good video card - the computer itself doesn't have to be really fast. They are up to version 5 now though, which adds online combat games, and I'll be upgrading to that soon.

  • great vid!

  • Thanks :)

I really need to go ahead and finish the next ones... but there's so much flying to do :)

  • nice lessson, but can anyone tell what helicopter should i use in aerofly deluxe? i turned off all weather conditions, but no helicopter stay so stable like this in one in the video. thx

  • Generally the bigger ones will move slower, that's why I'm using the Dominion 90 in the video. No helicopter is stable - I'm making it that way. If I wasn't making constant small corrections, this helicopter would be going all over the place. You can't see all the work I'm doing to keep it in one spot - because the radio image is too small. That's one thing I don't like about this video. I'll be trying to do some 'real' stick-cam videos with my helicopter today, so check back for that.

  • thank you, i really appreciate your efforts, the build videos and lessons. in fact i'm new in heli hobby, and i'm planning to buy a trex 250. do you think that's a good choice? it's cheaper than the higher clases, spare parts are also cheaper.

  • The 250 isn't great for beginners - it is small and hard to fly - requiring constant correction. This isn't so bad - what really makes it tricky for beginners is that it is hard to adjust correctly. You need to be able to fly it to get it right - it took maybe 20 flights before mine would fly right, and now it's well-behaved, but when it was new it really wanted to crash itself every time. The 450 and 500 electrics are much better for beginners - more tolerant of setup issues.

  • okay, thanks. i have decided to buy trex 500. i hope i;ll know how to assemble it, if not, i know where to look for advice ;)

  • Thanx again Master.

With this lesson i can improve my skill

    much better

  • You make this look so dang easy! lol. I have been working in the sim only and it's harder than I thought it would be. Learn before you burn!

  • Yes helicopters are tricky. Not like planes where you can just let it fly by itself. You've got be ahead of a helicopter - know what it's about to do and correct before it happens. You just need practice to develop the ability to see the future :)

  • Very very nice tutorial.

    keep it up...

Maybe in futere can uploading how to do

    some basic acrobatics.

    Thanx.....

  • I was working on that but then my computer died. I have it back now, so when I have some time I'll do some more.

  • Hi Jasmine, Is it possible you can show us how to do figure 8, and hurricanes. with stick movements.

    Thank you

  • Yeah I may do that sometime... but right now it's summer time and I'm busy doing all the flying I can. I was stuck inside in the winter when I made this video. I'm trying to figure out how to do stick-cam videos with my real helicopters, but it didn't work the last time I tried it.

  • It is an override switch that you set up and when you turn it on, the throttle goes to zero, regardless of where you have the sticks. ALL helicopters should be set up with this, for safety mostly, but also for the purpose of auto-rotations. See my DX7 setup video for how to set it up.

  • mmmm drugs are bad mkay

  • Great Vid. Wish i would of got my Sim before i tried my CPv3. lets just say cheaper to almost buy another heli...After i got the Sim i done same crash . but it never cost me parts this time. Practice makes perfect . btw your vids help me so much. ty ty ty

  • good vid but it sounds like your balls aint dropped yet mate...

  • I have been told I have a weird voice, it's nothing new.

  • wait...ur a guy?

  • No not really. I make no claims in either direction. I am a person - most everything else is unimportant.

  • Which sim is this?

  • RealFlight 3.5

  • I learned to fly model airplanes by myself and I also want buy a helicopter. but helicopters are allot more dificult to fly and all i can do is keep practicing on my simulator, cause where I live, there´s no RC clubs or instructors. This video has been very helpfull, the closest i got to an instructor! (LOL) Very good tips. Nice flying. Hope to watch more of your lessons soon.

  • Glad I could help! I will be doing more of these as soon as I get my "better" computer fixed. I also plan to do some stick-cam videos with my real helicopters.

  • thx for the flying tips many new pilots must see this It can be a great help for some and saves a lot of frustrating moments

  • great video. I wish more RC pilots would take their simulator seriously. flying online in Realflight feels like a death trap sometimes :)

  • Yes true - if people flew like they do on the sim, they would be kicked out of the club immediately.

  • very clear & concise video, thankyou for posting.

  • Very good tips. I enjoyed this video alot. Good stuff for the novice heli pilot. A sim is the best teacher unless you have tons of money and who has that?

    5 Stars ~ Eric
