  • Meus ídolos!!!!!!!!!!

  • Solidarity with the Spanish anti-authoritarian left! Viva la bandera roja y negra!

  • Yo te quiero con mi corazon The Clash!!!! Long Live The Only Band That Matters!!!

  • @ MrTaxman88......shush child...go live, love, then learn to think.

  • I belive i know The Clash better than you.

Yes i have heard Strummer talk about his political beliefs. Just because i'm a fan doesnt mean i have to do/act/say/believe in everything he does. You are just immature. Just because you're old enough to type, doesn't mean you should. In one of Strummer's interviews it shows him stating that he loves to here all sides of the story and is more open-minded in his opinion than he was during The Clash. No one is right or wrong about politics. Now shush. :)

  • Thanks to all those volunteers who had the guts to do what their governments couldn't.

  • @FQBeast Personally, I like a country where I can choose my leaders, make my own success through hard work, have freedom of speech, be free to leave the country, am not forced into menial labor, don't suffer from starvation and have a leader who can do whatever he chooses. I like when the interests of the citizens run the country, not the leaders. I like a healthy artistic culture where film, art, literature and music are not suffocated. I like music. I like my freedom to listen to the clash.

  • @FQBeast Not to say that capitalism doesn't have it's flaws but I think your statistics are misleading. The US has a 9.1% unemployment rate (not taking into account the chronically unemployed) and the wealthiest 1% has the same amount of money as the bottom 90%, also wealth distribution has nothing to do with democracy. Let's look at examples, Soviet Russia killed 65million, China killed 35million. Those are (were) the two largest communist countries.

  • also, this is a song owned by Sony.

  • note to anyone attempting a debate about capitalism around a youtube video: Youmoron

  • Sad how you can still feel the shadow of the civil war in Spain even now,70 years after it ended..'Bout 4 decades of(so-called)democracy haven't been enough..

  • lmao without capitalism, YouTube wouldn't exist, America would be poor as fuk along with the rest of the world, you wouldn't own a computer, you wouldn't have a job, and you would be praying for the free market every day of your life. Go suck the government's dick you fuckin' hypocritical commies. Everyone just listen to the damn music.

  • @Siryj26 well at least you would have a job but you´re right

  • @Siryj26 Hey your right! I mean look at all the benefits of capitalism in this country. The fact that 10% of the US is unemployed. Oh wait that isn't a benefit. Well capitalism must be democratic right? Oh wait no its not, 99% of the US population only controls 1% of the economy while the wealthy 1% owns 99%of the economy. But hey why do you need things like employment and democracy when you have Youtube! Because truly whats more important than a fat teenager singing the song Numa Numa.

  • putos rojos!

  • putos fachas!

  • You forgott the anarchists.

Viva la CNT, la revolucion negra!

  • I'm a long way from knowing everything I need to know about the Spanish civil war. I just went to Granada for the first time this weekend and had this song in my head the whole time. The best Clash song. It means so much to me now. Um, and I kind of agree with Krusty.

  • Good song.

Spain was betrayed by the aliades. They said something like "we don't care Franco is a nazi ; he's is against comunist so he is our friend". Oh poor Spain lost in misery , crueltry, ignorance...

Viva la vida hijos de puta.

  • RIP Frank Ryan & the others, who fought for the Red Spains

  • liberty or death

  • Canadianpunk77, thank you for your tribute to democracy, liberty, freedom and their heros.

  • gora euskadi ta askatasuna ta gora

    nafarroa askatuta

  • thanks canada punk...and to the springburn men of the 15th...hail hail corcovedo!

  • Crusty the Clown you are an asshole. Socialism is for the betterment of the people and society not greedy capatalists. There was no excuse for Guernica, and fascism or bigotry are not accepted in the 00's, you idiot!!! up the celts!

  • LOL.

The problem with socialism is that there will always be people like me to wage war against it.

Socialism will always be plagued by the necessity to become repressively communistic in order to combat capitalists that are willing to use any tactic.

The more socialistic government becomes, the more I disregard the rule of law and start to view the world as Locke's "State of nature" in which I am bound by no law and at war with the world around me. Violence is the natural result.

  • i don't know about violence, but socialism really isn't a great form of government. give it time anywhere and people will realize it

  • Go watch Fox News Krusty. That way they can tell you some more right wing bullshit to believe in. It must be nice having a whole news station to do your thinking for you.

    Fuck you!!! Capitalist fuck!!!

  • @ggallinismylord The Communist News Network does the same. (CNN) - i remember i few weeks ago they interviewed an anti-nuclear activist (not a nuclear scientist) no analyse and form an opinion of the disaster at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant. - This is why your argument is inconsistent.

Also, Socialism has been the basis of violence in the 20th Century. From World War II where we see a strong anti-capitalist and anti-communist, national socialist state. Also, the Cold War and wars involved.

  • @ggallinismylord Furthermore, i am an anarcho-capitalist, however i do not appreciate your hate speech to any group - everyone has an opinion and it should not be expressed so violently. (you're very un-clash)

Even though i am a capitalist i remain neutral to the belligerents throughout the civil war.

Now, shut the fuck up and listen to the music. The Clash didn't care whether it was left-wing or right-wing, they just wanted something that worked for them, which is the basis of all politics

  • @MrTaxman88

Wow. you really are a fucking retard. have you ever heard strummer speak about his poltical beliefs?? It certainly doesn't sound like somebody who doesn't care. Get to know The Clash at least a little before you make stupid comments.

  • Fuck you, typical yank always thinking there right, when there government was as Fascist as Musolini's Italy when now there as Nazi as Hitlers third reich as now your under the sad impression that you have a president that cares about workers. Lol sad cunt.

  • see my video from tijuana no! compañero

    greetings from spain

  • An amazing video for sure, Tijuana No! do justice to the song, and the cause! :)

    Saludos

  • @salpety Capitalism or communism really is that u people are still arguing about here? Fuck the best is social democracy which is about half way from both, don't believe me just check the U.N. stats for the best quality of life in the world....although its probably not possible for the yanks, too many people in your country (anticipating any response don't blame the Mexicans u bloody rednecks out there).

Joder tio ni menciones a Tijuana! yo soy Mexa y bueno es de lo peor...

  • What the shame to be Spanish. There is a legal party, Popular Party who has not yet condemned Franco´s revolt.

  • there's no shame in being Spanish...even nowadays you'll see brown-ass India Maria looking mexicans who say they're one of us...

  • Great song.

  • cool video! thx

  • Good video. Thaks to all the international volenteers who come to fight for our freedom, we will never forget you!

  • good video apart from the Republic flag would never have the royal coat of arms in the centre!

  • Sorry dude, but the Republican flag had the royal coat of arms. Watch it in Wikipedia if you don't believe me.

  • oh well fair enough. just assumed that being a republic there would not be anything to do with royality. As they say, 'assume makes an ass out of u me' lol

  • It is not the "royal" coat of arms but the so-called "corona mural" (I try to translate...in bad english: something like "wall crown" coat of arms :)). It was used in periods of changing from a Monarchy to a Rebublican State. It represents a wall, town or village and so, also the souveragnity of citizens. You can compare it with the present spanish royal coat of arms, where you actually can see the "royal" crown. You were right! As the anarchists said: Ni rey, ni amo ni Dios!

    Saludos!

  • No es exactamente el escudo con la corona real, es una corona mural. Saludos de una republicana...

  • im irish and happy some irish fought 4 d republic and to 'canadianpunk77' the 800 irishman dat went over for duffy refused to fight for franco against the basques as they saw comparison with their own struggle 4 freedom in ireland and were eventualy sent home by franco!

  • I know, they were still fascist reactionaries brainwashed by the Roman Catholic Church to fight against democracy and socialism, but hey before they were slaughtered (by the Nationalists, accidently interestingly enough) at least they left the Basques alone!

  • but irish people only actualy fought against franco in spain, those in duffy's 800 never saw action and were sent home as they refused to fight against the republic! other irishmen fought for the republic against franco you msut be aware of and they all saw action

  • They didn't "refuse to fight against the republic!" They refused to fight against Basque nationalists, all 800 of them actually volunteered to fight against the republic! LOL

It wasn't by choice that they didn't see any action, their commanding officers never sent them out into battle. After that accidental massacre, I think at Jarama they were sent home.

  • They were all still members of O'Duffy's Blueshirts and as such committed fascists and enemies of republicanism. That's why they volunteered to help Franco, that's also why they skirmished with the IRA during the 1930s.

  • and the Blueshirts did briefly see action at Jarama Hill.

  • OK THEN...

You forgot Eoin O'Duffy and his band of 800 Irish blueshirts

  • viva la CNT !!

    vete a cagar por ahi

  • que te den hdp

  • FRANCO HA MUERTO

  • que te jodan fascista

  • q viva la republica!!

    life the republic!! :S

  • In some villages of Spain, we grandfathers could savour for months the certification freedom, the authentic anarchy. Glory for this libertarian and dreamers. Thks to the international brigades forever. Thks to The clash for this nice honoring.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm Canadian, i don't aggree with your political beliefs but anyone that posts with a lesser known Clash song is cool with me.

  • They sand the Red Flag, they wore the black one...

    BRILLIANT!

  • Sang not sand. Bah!

  • Hola... just a hint from a spanish republican... at 2:55 there appear 2 wallpapers, but the one at the right is fascist scum.

  • I know I wanted to show two differant recruitment posters symbolizing the two sides.

  • for those interested, there's a great film on the spanish civil war shot by malraux and called "l'espoir" (hope) ... malraux was minister for culture under de gaulle presidence but also fought in spain for republicans.

  • I just hope that if another reactionary insurrection reels its ugly head in say Venezuela or Nicaragua (again) that this westerners will again fight for democracy. Hell I'd go!!!

  • Beautiful job..Our eternal Gratitude to the men and women of the "BRIGADAS INTERNACIONALES" who came to fought against fascim from thousands of kilometers away to this strage country that Spain is.We lose but it doesen´t matter..THANKS.

  • No worries, it was our pleasure. It's just too bad that the rest of the world didn't see the need to fight fascism in Spain. If those 2 thousand Canadian volunteers had been joined regular Canadian troops, U.S. troops, or British and French troops imagine what the differance would have been. Or if the League of Nations hadn't promoted a double standard allowing the Axis to supply Franco but forbidding nations from aiding the republic!

  • Good video dude!! The Clash rocks!!! Good job!
