Los Angeles Superior Court Judges are excpting bribes. California judges are employee's of the State not the County. The County is currently giving them $57,688.00 per yr per judge in addition to the pay and benefits they receive from the State. After being exposed for the bribes (Sturgeon v Los Angeles County) the judges paid a lobbyist to pass SBX211 granting retro active imunity from prosecution. Nancy Pelosi signed it.

@dkkght46: Another thing to consider is that there are hidden problems in this compromise. For one thing there is a tax that will slowly undermine social security. This is EXACTLY what Republicans want, to force social security to be privatized so Wall Street can get its hands on the 2 trillion dollars in the Social Security fund. And that is only one of the problems in it. At this point I am in favor of a fillibuster. I would suggest everyone contact their representatives.

How does unemployment create jobs ? If you raise the taxes on those making over $250,000 than you are going to create more unemployment. Small businesses will not be able to afford the employees in a poor economy. Also, Republicans have NEVER said that they will not vote for extending unemployment, that they will not vote for cutting taxes for the Middle Class. They have said if you cut taxes for everyone in a bad economy it will create jobs and allow the employers to afford to hire.

If the Republicans are going to hold this up for the sake of the very rich, it would serve them right if the Bush-era tax cuts expired altogether -- then the GOP would have to explain to the middle- and working-class why the rich were more important. (And, no, trickle-down doesn't work -- hasn't worked).
There are a lot of people that need help these days, and they aren't all deadbeats as some would like to think. A great deal of them are people that simply cannot find a job...if you've ever gone job searching in the past few years, you'd know how difficult that is. I'd rather see aid going to the middle class and the unemployed than seeing it all go up to the top 2%. If there's anyone who doesn't need more money, it's that top 2%. The middle class is where it matters.
If you expect another man to pay for your food and shelter, then don't be shocked when that man owns you and takes away your food and shelter. As a middle class working person, I will oppose these policies Democrats as long as 50+% of people pay no federal income tax and any bonus I get is taxed at 50%. So much for "do unto others as you would have them do to you". I know too many lazy deadbeats to believe this. Democrats just want you to be dependent on them and their failing big govt.

This is EXACTLY what Republicans want, to force social security to be privatized so Wall Street can get its hands on the 2 trillion dollars in the Social Security fund. Any way you put it, if the current tax rate, it will result in the largest tax increase in history. How does unemployment create jobs ? If you raise the taxes on those making over $250,000 than you are going to create more unemployment. Small businesses will not be able to afford the employees in a poor economy. Also, Republicans have NEVER said that they will not vote for extending unemployment, that they will not vote for cutting taxes for the Middle Class. They have said if you cut taxes for everyone in a bad economy it will create jobs and allow the employers to afford to hire.

Since 2005 only the top 2% income level grew by 25% and the bottom 40% stayed flat. After all, a tax system setup to favor them getting richer, while the average persons income doesn't grow (FACT CHECK THAT PLEASE) is in our best interest. We are NOT against small business and entrepreneurship, in fact this is who we are fighting for. Not Bankers who live off dividends & create nothing, or Walmarts that ship jobs oversea for lower wages.

If you had a personal debt, would you give money away to rich people, knowing your children would suffer? This is what you are asking America to do! We want to exempt ALL small busi ! @Glennerb ~also, Chuck Schumer has a small business bill that will exempt anyone making 250K +. But the repubs will kill that bill like they killed the other bills setup to protect small businesses. What you don't get is that this isn't about small businesses. They just use that to get your vote. They just voted against tax cuts for the middle class & unemployment is being held hostage so they can get their tax bonuses! With the 1st $250K earned "everyone" gets a tax cut. They want more!

everyone here that keeps dogging on the rich are being extremely unfair. For starters in my company alone we have 81 people making over 1 million a year and they give more to charities and create more employment than probably anyone posting comments in here.

If they needed it, that would be different. It's not an attack on rich people, there are many rich people who agree that they don't need it. We are trying to bring back the economy right now. Not being santa. Are you equally upset that they didn't extend unemployment for people actually do need it.

Now "everyone" even the rich get a break on the fist $250K. The rich already end up paying less in taxes, loopholes, as most people& you want to give them even more? This doesn't make sense. And under Chuck Schumer's small business bill employers who make more than $250K will be "EXEMPTED!"

There are a lot of people that need help these days, and they aren't all deadbeats as some would like to think. A great deal of them are people that simply cannot find a job...if you've ever gone job searching in the past few years, you'd know how difficult that is. I'd rather see aid going to the middle class and the unemployed than seeing it all go up to the top 2%. If there's anyone who doesn't need more money, it's that top 2%. The middle class is where it matters.
