i've been a huge Rush for over 35 years, I don't know who nelly furtado is and that this person did a cover of time standstill i'm going to check it out though something tells me not to, but i'm daring.
i was one year old when this cocert i thought everything in 1994 was like nirvana and cheap shows but dam this looks like it was filmed in 2008 or something holy shit they really got a time machine
I'm 45 and when my bronchitis is gone I can go back to trying to sound like geddy and I just bought my first bass for my kids (not enough money for an amp) but I want to learn to play it. I'm gonna look for tabs. it's just a yamaha but it's pretty cool looking. "sunburst" black to wood. I like the tuner keys on the headstock of his bass but im sure his is probably a few thousand dollars. what is that bass he played in the 80s that had no headstock? is that called a "Stick bass"?
im only 19 but ive seen rush 5 times i love them they always play an epic show for days i cant believe that i seen them upclose and for days i just think about how great it was i can never get over it its always like the first time everytime i see them play
Saw them a fortnight ago in Sheffield - all I can say is that I love them just as much now as I ever did. ABSOLUTE LEGENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I get to see them play again.
Great sound on this. Geddy's voice is way strong. Counterparts was a great tour, although pood Geddy was sick as a dog when I saw him in DC that tour.
Holy Crap!!! I came across this video and I was there!!! Both nights that they played there!!! Nice post!!! It was a great show and they played a different playlist both nights. thanks!!
@superbeavo well maybe if it were a one off gig but still it be kind of cool like sting would sometimes come on stage with dire straits to sing his part in money for nothing
Was looking up the prices of tickets for the concert in Cleveland in April. $325 PER TICKET on the floor. I have serious doubts about this concert now. Hw can anyone afford that??
Aimee Mann did the female vocal in the studio version. It's hard to tell in this live version, but it sounds like they are just using her recorded part here too.

@coolMan5150 exactly thats why rush never cared what the record makers thought about there music they wrote what they wanted and played them at the length they choose
I never really cared for PoW or HYF, but this song... Man, it's one of my favorites of all time. It's proof that even if you don't like one of the eras of Rush, you can still love song from it.
Man....I always remember my first kiss when I hear this song! It was playing on the radio that friday night when I took her home....one of the best nights of my life! God I love Rush so much! So much nostalgia when I hear this song! Talk about wanting time to stand still! lol! :)
OMG even what people called the Rush "pop" phase was brilliant sans the video. Love to Rush forever, but let's save the photograph a little bit longer.
Very Eastern in philosophy. Almost every lyric line decries Western ignorance and discovers Eastern consciousness, in parable or metaphor. Not that I care to pit Western and Eastern. But this song is horribly right.
time stand still. let me stop and look around. I'm dying, eventually.
Loved the Counterparts tour. The first time they used flames, pyro, etc. I remember the nuts and bolts shooting flames. Also love seeing the wall of Trace Elliots behind Geddy.
Saw them 2 nights ago at Jones Beach. They started right at 8 o'clock and I got into the venue only halfway through this song. Overall, the show was amazing. The band really did sounds as good on this tour as they did in 1994 (a bit louder, I think), and the set list was amazing - this song, Presto, Marathon, Leave that Thing Alone and of course the big hits. Even the unreleased song they played was better than the stuff on Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows.
Saw them Last night in CT. This was the second song. I swear Geddy's voice and the overall band sounded better last night than they did back then! Blew my mind.. again!
Omg, I love the way Geddy sings right here, almost more then the original recording. It's almost as if, the song has more meaning to him years later then it did when they first recorded it. Which I'm sure, as we can all agree, it does for us as we get older.
Does it really get any better than this song? Trick question , hell no it doesn't! The lyrics alone make this one the best songs Rush ever did.... Period!
@tdb20007 ..one of the best bands ever. No offense, I find it annoying when people refer to bands as an 80s band whether it be Rush, Def leppard or the Scorpions etc...all these bands still tour and put out albums. You never here U2 referred to as an 80s band, but yet so many others are.

I know we can all take different meanings from things, but for me, it's about someone not wanting the past or the future, but the now - the appreciation of now, of the people you know and love and being with them.
Favorite song of many from Rush, the best band ever. You don't hang around for 35 plus years if your not bad ass. Hope to see them one more time live.
Great lyrics and this live version is 100x better than the video they put out for the song. This song came out during the period where I had quit listening to Rush, as I was more old-school Rush. The Eighties were definitely different. Neil really is a great poet !
When i first bought the album "" Hold your fire '' i didnt like, so i gave it to my best friend Mike. Weeks later, we were hanging out and he put it on, and i was like '' What was i thinking?, this album is great!'' and he said '' Im not giving it back, fuck you ''..........LOL!

Easily one of rush's best records. The best of the 80's synth period, I think. Signals is a close runner up.
