The score has always been a favorite of mine, and it was well played by this troupe. Only the tempo felt rushed, when really the original, slower pace of the main theme in this interlude (heard in the film score and in Ennio's performance tours) is what brings out the piece's emotion.

I just heard them perform this piece in a concert in Roanoke, VA. They played a very diverse program from Satie to Bizet to Bernstein and an original composition by John Novacek, pianist. They played this piece as an encore- very beautiful...the chemistry between each player is very powerful. They are all very expressive as they are playing- so that one feels they really love what they are doing. What a pleasure!
