This was an awful train ride. The swaying was so bad my daughter fell, a lady fell into me on our way to bathroom. There was no heat. It wasnt worth the 110.00$ we spent to go to the north pole. By the way you can drive to the north pole its 10$ to get in and children under 5 are free.
There is no 'replacement steam engine' the two engines that The Steam Railroading Institute own are down for either rebuilds or restoration. Pere Marquette 1225 as you said is down for the 15 year rebuild, and the other engine SRI owns, Mississippian #76 is still trying to be restored to operating condition and has been since 2003. No steamers are going to pull this until 1225 comes back in 2012.
@PereMarquette1223 The reason I thought there was a replacement steam engine was because in October or November I remember seeing a second steam engine moving around the yard. I thought that this engine was to be substituting for the 1225. Thank you for this information.
@ketchuphedd Oh that engine, that was Nickel Plate Road 765, another engine identical to 1225. It was here pulling the Cadillac Fall Color Excursion and a trip to Alma the next weekend. I caught it in Alma, and you can check it out on my channel if you would like to. NKP 765 is owned by the Fort Wayne Historical Society in Indiana if you didn't know.
