  • Gilgamesh is NOT Kefka, but his design looks similar

  • Gilgamesh wouldn't happen to be kefka would it?

  • Fun fact: Though the masamune is a recuring weapon used in almost all final fantasy series, the most popular guy who weilds it is Sephiroth

  • @GH3Master88 Sephiroth is an overrated cuntboy :|

  • @SharksIncorporated

    No you are

  • @aaronfarley93 Lol, umad? :3

All his grimdark, emo shit is lame.

  • gmm looks like a genie wiv a katana....:/ and skin is red....

  • Fun fact : The masamune is a recuring weapon in almost all the final fantasies, it also has significance in Chrono Trigger.

  • Fun fact: The sword Masamune is so sharp it cannot draw blood.

  • man is sephiroth gonna be pissed when he can't find his sword XD

  • yyh i got too many dead spirits in my inventory everytime gilgamesh appears he only uses zatsetzuken :(

  • Zantetsuken forever

  • lmao gilgamesh is my favorite ff summon, right after bahamut, shiva, and chocobos.

  • to this day i have yet to see masamune be used in my ffviii game by gilgamesh

  • quistis got raped at the end

  • selphie got raped at the end

  • To bad the masamune in Final Fantasy is just a copy...if it was the proper one cloud would be Dead XD because the cursed sword masamune steals souls :3

  • @mathewthehusky1 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @mathewthehusky1

    But Cloud has plot armor.

  • @ZhadoxFlamez Tooshay :P

  • Gilgamesh is the lord of heroes, he wield all weapons the heroes in his era used. Not a surprise Masamune is one of em.

  • isnt sephy's blade handle black not purple?

  • The masamune appears in every FF except XI... In a general sense it shouldn't continuously be regarded as "Sephiroth's Masamune". It's no one's masamune.

To be honest though, the quality of this along with the very brief view of the sword makes it really questionable if that is the Masamune at all. It could just as well be the Muramasa. I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just saying...

  • @hagelt18

Or Murasame, Kotetsu, or Kiku-Ichimonji! =D

It's interesting that in Final Fantasy Masamune is held higher than the Kusanagi (aka Heaven's Cloud), which is Japan's parallel to Excalibur as a legendary sword of supernatural status, while Masamune was known as the most famous line of real life katanas.

  • @PossessedbyPhoenix

That is very interesting, I did not know that! =]

  • King of Heroes, do you have enough weapons in stock?

  • Actually Sephiroth's Masamune is not THAT powerful. Sephiroth in the Nibelheim flashback at 50 level was doing around 5000 damage. HE made it that powerful. Also in Advent Children he materialized it out of thin air. Which means it is probably a long odachi with shorter hilt. From FF Wiki "This Masamune is easily recognizable due to its massive length, but thin width, resembling an Odachi, though with a hilt much smaller. "

  • holy shit!! it's sephiroth's masamune!!!

  • gilgamesh throwing down with sephiroths sword. Even swings it with his left hand

  • Ive never had Gilgamesh use Masamune before.

  • i liked the clip of how odin became gilgamesh. it was something somewhat unexpected ya know?

  • Not became, got killed & got his Weapon taken(,can a guy show the gilgamesh's summon animation is be4 he got the Zantetsuken,or is that not possiple?).)

  • Gilgamesh=yojimbo?

  • maybe, but yojimbo's dog is daigo i think while in ffxii's gilgamesh, its ekidu...sorta might as well be the same guy

  • and ekidu matches his ff5 origins. Although it still could be him

  • It's Enkidu not Ekidu, Gilgamesh and Enkidu is based on an old sumerian story called Enuma Elish.

  • in the story Gilgamesh fought Enkidu and lost and from then on they where friends (thats the short version)

  • Too bad not many people read it these days. It's really quite interesting. "Epic of Gilgamesh" is the story that centers around him.

  • Gilgamesh > Yojimbo

  • i think you mean Gilgamesh replacing him

  • so.. WHY is this particular sword so good? Its just as strong as Excalibur more or less... I had hoped it was something awesome :(....

  • It's non elemental.

  • ...so?

  • Excalibur is holy elemental, making it useless against some enemies. A good example is Ultimecias first form.

  • oh, alright. So thats the difference? Well its not like it matters anyway. Gilgamesh appears so incredibly seldom that I sometimes forget he's even in the game anyway :{

  • Gilgamesh now where as good as Odin

  • sephiroth is gonna be so pissed off that someone stole his massive sword.

  • sry but sephiroth has got a nodachi

  • The Masamune is the name of Sephiroth's sword

  • It's an Odachi. Longer than a Nodachi.

  • IT IS A KATANA NAMED MASAMUNE!!!

Information other than that is irrelevant.

  • looooool noobs i know that its called masamune but thats just like u call a car, truck in a game. fakt is that the sword is a nodachi .

oh and this stupid shit about a odachi pleas man go and read some books a odachi has never existed

but why i schoul talk to such littel nerds pfff

oh and u can vote down this comment but u cant ignore the truth

  • Please read carefully in my previous response,

"Information other than that is irrelevant."

  • Besides, you are wrong, Sephiroth's sword is taller than Sephiroth, a nodachi is not that long. Regular people could not use sephiroth's sword, yet a nodachi just takes skill to use.

  • omg the longes nodachi was 4,10 meters long

so dont tell me that its shorter than a human body

  • I wanna see someone wield a 4,10 meter nodachi... your average persons height is at around 1,8 or 1,9 meters... so its abit over 2 times the length of a person...

  • thats right and it was used more like a speer to hold ur enemies on distance ^^

  • First off you are absolutely wrong.

Your average nodachi is about two meters being used more like a polearm instead for close-combat.

I admit that i was wrong about the length of the weapon, but that doesn't change the fact that Masamune is a katana and not a nodachi, he uses masamune in close combat and is about a head taller than him.

  • ok at first

look at some pics then u will see that the length of his "sword" isnt the same on all of them

now the word "katana" that is just japanese for sword noob and masamune is the name of his sword(jap. katana)

and dont tell me somtihg about nodachis and how they were used

    really i know it better

so pleas first thinking then writign

but its fun to look at the nerdy shit some of u write XD

  • You might as well shut up.

I never said they were all the same kength, said that the average was about two meters.

Nodachi's were used as polearms, you obviously do not know it better than me, when i just quickly glanced at several articles. The fact that you also flamed all of us basically screams that you are now trying to hide your ignorance.

  • An odachi has existed it's pretty much an ornamental nodachi generally offered up at shrines in the past. You're thinking of a "zanbatou" from anime and such which hasn't existed in the way portrayed in media. Also if you knew anything about a nodachi you'd note that the masamune's handle is definitely not long enough to be a nodachi and that the masamune used here and in FFVII is pretty much the zanbatou created by anime and games that never actually existed. Noob go read some books.

  • omg i just can say again, look at some pictures, the length is difficult on each picture and the length of nodachis are from 2-4,10 meters and the handle from 40-120cm so thats no argument noob "read some books fag" oh and i dont say it agan schreib deutsch du möchtegern hystoriker der zu viele animes glotzt kauf dirn leben

  • I happen to own a nodachi, I am damn familiar with what one looks like. Also I don't feel the need to write in German thanks. I could care less about the largest so-called nodachis there were. Sephiroth's masamune is generally around 2 meters with a short katana handle. An actual nodachi has a handle almost equal in length to the blade to balance it out. Google an image of the sword and you'll see it isn't properly proportioned to possibly be a nodachi. It's really just a fictionalized zanbatou.

  • lol pls try first to understand what i wrote before u say such a shit i can try to translate in a mail but it can take a few minutes

  • Weaboo.

  • @ZhadoxFlamez for the sake of a MASAMUNE we can just as heck say its FROG's from chrono trigger :)

  • @ZhadoxFlamez It's also the name of the MAKER of the swords... So it's not irrelevant... HA!

  • lol, if that was sephiroth's masamune, it wouldn't end like this ^_^

  • i prefer zantestsuken !!

  • PH342 him and his m4d skillz

  • very nice man i love this attack
