Thinking about maybe doing that with mine. But I have a sleeve hitch so it will have to be a little different. Just another creative way to play with those great old JD garden tractors.
the only problem i can see with that is that the tractor is much wider than the planter (i mean you need to add more to it) its gonna be hard to plant a whole garden with that because youll be running over seed you just planted when your planting the next row. Other than that great idea!
@zekeasaur Did you watch the video? Dosen't look like he had a problem with that. He was planting with a lot of room between rows. If you want it closer you can just follow the tire track from the other row. I mean how close do you plant your rows anyway?
Good idea, I was planing on building the one I designed but I could just buy 6 of these and link them together with aluminum angle and come out cheaper. Mine will be a pull behind with an electric numatic lift do curves won't be a problem. Probably replace the plastic wheels with some that will last longer and handle weight.
Thanks. I have one of them but like you say it's not percise but I think with adition of some better tires that would stick to the ground better maybe it wouldn't tend to skip, but as far as dropping 2 seed in one spot, I doubt any one could do anything about that. It for sure needs a lid so when the grabber get binded up it shoot see out the top lol.
In the Contrary Farmer the author talks about connecting 2 seeders together with 2x4's to plant his 2 acres of corn. Good exercise and a hell of a lot cheaper then a seeding attachment to his tractor.
Kind of depends on what I'm planting. I use the wheel track from the last row. Some are wider, some are more narrow. Usually drive down the wheel track and it's about right.
I saw one at a local farm supply store with a 79.95 price on it this last week. It may have been a carry over. I bought this one a few years ago after the garden season - they threw in a complete set of plates along with the planter for a very reasonable price. Probably couldn't do that now.

Thanks.
It's not as precise a planter as I'd hoped but those units cost big $
Your idea sounds good though. Good luck with it.

When you get older you'll appreciate it more. I'm planting over 100 rows and each one is over 100 feet long. That's a bit more than my heart likes.

Its not hard if you have the right tools and a lil bit of common sense. Without the right tools, it can be a real PITA
