@Ysbjorn Not true, the base price of $49,000 is the price of an Cadillac Escalade. This car was announced in 2009 all you had to do was save for it. But I know saving isn't the american way, LOL!!
when i was @ Tesla in Santa Monica I think they said it was 18K to replace Roadsters battery. If you pay in advance at the time when you purchase the vehicle they offered a discount of 10K.
Battery life was from 100 to 120,000 miles or about 10 years of average driving. I assume that the prices for model S would be similar.
The funniest part of the dealership was the "garage". Sparkling clean. No oil cans laying around no engine parts ... it was an awesome sight.
@TogetherinParis It's laughable how little you know. The Model S will have a drag coefficient around 0.25. Yah, I think thats aerodynamic. The bottom of the car is completely flat (no drive shaft) & the Model S Sport is being engineered to beat an BMW M5. It has two trunks, one in front one in back and seats seven. It uses NO GAS, has 300+ mile range per charge. It only takes 5 dollars to fully charge. No spark plugs, No oil changes, It doesn't kill the planet...
@DarthNefatious explain to me in which universe a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds and a range of between 160 and 300 miles in anyway beats an M5??? You also make the common error of assuming that electric grid power is harmless to the environment. Ever hear of coal powered stations (majority of US electric)? Not to mention heavy metal short life (less than a decade for sure) rechargeable battery packs. Df = 0.28. seating is NOT FOR 7. YOU ARE MAKING SHIT UP!!!
@TheJjiggity actually in an interview the tesla ceo confirmed they will have a performance model that does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. but thats only straight line speed. it handles very well due to its stiff chassis. also the drag coeffecient is .22 not .28. It DOES seat 7, but 2 of those are meant for children only. I think you should have done the research before saying that darthnefatious is "making shit up." If you want my source for any of this information I'd be happy to give it to you.
@DarthNefatious hey fool, put in winter condiitons like Minnesota and see what happens, keep a tow truck number handy and your 300 mile range, if it does go will be about 50 miles, = FAIL. Shall I continue fool
@Deke1 where are your sources for any of that information? or maybe even your reasoning? basically, what the fuck are you talking about and where are you getting this from?
@Ysbjorn Yeah you're right I guess. I'm just surprised at the price though. Because if you have kind of a good job than you might be able to afford this thing, and it looks like it's frickin 50,000 dollars more than it really is lol.

It looks like a Buick. What a shame Tesla did not bother to make the car aerodynamic: open wheel wells, no boat tail, probably no belly pan.
