First of all, it's a video. You're not going to get the real effect. Second of all, pitching is not all speed. Yes, it's nice to throw hard but having movement is ten times more effective than just having speed. Jen has crazy movement on her ball. Jen does pitch hard too.

@aquariumluver No, they don't. Rarely has any pitcher ever reached the speed of 75. The top d-1 pitchers, like Keilani Ricketts of Oklahoma, hit speeds of 67-68 fastball and 69-70 on a rise.

change up: she shortens her stride and her arm speed in order to get the right speed for her pitch and from the batters point of view they can tell that what she is going to throw by her stride

drop balls: she does the same thing when she trows her drop balls, she shortens her stride

curve ball: she throws a good curve ball but when she is releasing it looks like her hip gets in the way, forcing her to throw around her hip

if a 16 year old pitcher can tell you this than a college coach sure can

@westonsz it doesn't help or hinder, it is simply a pitcher's personal style on her wind-up

i wasn't taught it either but i tweak my wind-up all the time but it try to keep it as simple as possible to conserve energy

some pitchers like to have a big fancy wind-up because to some batters it is intimidating

i dont know if you can answer this or not because you probably wont get what im saying...but before you pitch like to get power can you walk fast to the rubber than when your foot hits the rubber start your wind up and stuff like your walking while pitching and i know you have to keep your foot on the rubber but before you even start your wind up can you like walk to the rubber than pitchh? if you get what im saying please reply
