The poll only required an emotional response, NOT a political one. The 30% or so that did not answer with the other 70% did so because they were reading further into the question. Ideally, EVERYONE wants the troops safe and at home... There was no point in Ron even stating this poll to answer the moderator's question.

Yan117mc1, the poll Ron cited didn't ask about the support or non-support of the war, it asked "Do you want the troops to come home?"... The poll only required an emotional response, NOT a political one. The 30% or so that did not answer with the other 70% did so because they were reading further into the question. Ideally, EVERYONE wants the troops safe and at home... There was no point in Ron even stating this poll to answer the moderator's question.

Many friends of the bush administration, both in the oil industry and others such as building and "security" made huge economic profits from the war in Iraq.
A big part of these profits by being accorded government contracts (e.g. blackwater), without competition.

Actually, WWII ended up having a positive impact on the american economy.
But anyway I'm not saying the government makes a profit. However some companies, with contracts from the government, do. For example the military industry. American oil companies supervising extraction not being metered by the CPA (source: The Guardian 07/07/2005). and many others.

What sources can you expect? You can check how many millions of Bush's campaign contributions are from oil/military. You can check his biography for links.
You can't expect a figure or even an approximation. Yet it seems quite obvious to me that there is SOME profit.

However you can check the bigraphy of george bush, and the stock market evolution of the oil and defense companies he's been associated with (on yahoo finance say). As an indicator that something good happened to the industry.
Or you can trust websites such as first google result for "bush family war profiteering".

Ideally, everyone in the audience wants their husband, father, brother, friend, etc. safe and at home. But the moderator's question wasn't about what people ideally WANT (like the poll Ron cited), it's about what goals you have in dealing with conflicts. It takes two sides to make peace, and only ONE to create a conflict. Ron should have started out by answering the question, not insulting the audience before him.
