I think it's because Jim's said all that needs to be said about Alera. It's a great series and all, but it's finished and complete. Dresden, on the other hand, is still very much incomplete. There's gonna be twenty-something books and an apocalyptic trilogy, plenty of questions there.
I love when the interviewer has good questions. So much better than fanboy questions.
I Can't bitch too much since I have been the fanboy asking Jim Butcher silly questions. I got lucky and caught him at Madicon where there was only like 200 people.
The fact Butcher allows time to pass in-between books in his universe is one of my favorite aspects of the Dresden Files. Too many urban fantasy books fail at this and it starts to wear on the story after a while.
UH UH. He keeps sayin it..

"You can't have a million people living in a pre-industrial society, everyone dies of Dysentery."
There were at least a million people living in Rome at its height. But then again, I guess Rome is kind of the exception to the rule.

Big thanks to Brandon Sanderson for tweeting the link to this! Jim Butcher is one of my very favorites because he respects his readers so much.
