thats the best and usually first upgrades for corvette owners, intake, full exhaust and tune and your easily add 50 to 70 plus rear wheel hp. why? cuz those 3 things are the weakest link. from there its cam, heads, supercharger etc. then your in the 500-600 hp range. people under estimate the c5-c6 vettes cuz there so common and most are not fixed up to drag, but its the best bang for the buck hands down!

The C5 Z06 is one of the best performance cars on the planet, still to this day. And NOTHING can touch it for the price. It will go down in history as one of the greatest corvette's EVER built.
I'm not surprised. I've driven a number of the cars in the video and they are quick and driving dynamics are much more refined than the Z06. BUT the Z06 is FAST! My father just installed american racing long tube headers and a haltek stinger intake and after the tune got 403 HP at the wheels on his C5 Z06. I can run down most anything exotic at Lime Rock. If you want a great track car for a great price get a Z06. If you want exotic looks and exclusivity, by a Ferrari or Lambo.

I know the owner of this car. I have actually filmed him beating that challenge stradale on another occasion. I weigh in at 125 lbs. and the result was similar. All it had was indeed a full exhaust from the headers all the way back. No cam, nada.

If straight line speed is your main interest, an 03 Cobra with a bit of moderate tweaking will definitely scream and can be had for very moderate prices. However, it the mileage is sheit and handeling not so nice. This is the thing about M3s, etc., nice speed, great handeling. But this is why I love Vettes, with moderate amounts of work you can really lay the smack down for speed and handeling, and can do it as a middle class guy.

With those mods and a little tuning he'd be up around 450BHP at around 3,200lbs, very comparible and slightly better than most of those cars. The Enzo would eat him up though. But at over a million dollars, I'd sure hope so :)

The other guys might be pussy footing their super cars a bit, and the Vette laying into it, which might account for the difference. Notice what appears to be the Turbo Porsche hangs pretty well, which would make sense. Considering power/weight the Vette is somewhat ahead of most of these.
well, the vette is built for top end and considering the 250lb. drag from his passenger, the z06 was doing about the right amount of murdering that it should...the sad part is, is that its not even the new z06 which would put those 100grand plus cars to shame....
C5 Z06s came with 3.42 gears and the MN12 version of the T56, so gearing 1-4 was pretty well suited to flat acceleration, but you can wind out 5th and 6th for some serious high speed. Also, becuase of this torqy motor and effecient transmission, if you keep you're foot out of it, you can get up to nearly 30mpg . . . NONE of those other cars will get that.

With your mods, you would only put down about 375 to the wheels. You would need full boltons, headwork and a light cam to put down 458.
