  • Newbies: press g for save the current formation you have done

  • @MINEDUTY2 good call

  • @MINEDUTY2 thanks i was wondering why all the groups were scattered around the map when moving them lol

  • I picked this game up right when it came out but only played a match or two. Really looking to get back into it, video was super helpful.

  • @TheNinjaBlade77 The state of the game is pretty good now, it's a good time to come back.

  • "Newbie Tips"

    ...My kind of place then^^

I have NEVER won a campaign, hmm is battling self is better than auto fight? I always come close but then everyone turns on me. -_-

  • @MrZeromaster95 Unless the power bar is way in your favor battling yourself is better 99% of the time. Autocalcing sieges tends to be better for you too I've found.

  • /watch?v=IruR1hQCWQQ&list=UUXSgr-jKOLNz5_0mT6KiA7w&index=2&feature=plcp

  • The spear peasants aren't that bad. I've seen them beat katana samurai without support. It seems that you under value the peasants.

  • Can't agree with you more whenever you say, "Uh...not quite sure what he's doing there..." Personally, I always treat my army as four distinct units: The Bodyguard, Cavalry, Archers, and Infantry. Never use your bodyguard...ever. Infantry and archers are to be used in conjunction: Use the range of the archers to bring enemy infantry into range of cavalry (Which you can hopefully keep hidden) or use skirmish so that enemy infantry suddenly find themselves rushing into an infantry spear wall.

  • @IAmMrSoul Good advice but melee generals are great in combat if used well.

  • Hey man, how do you get Great Guard cavalry in campaign? I have all the relevant buildings and resources but no option to build them even though encyclopaedia says i can.

  • @MCTheo3 No idea I don't play the campaign

  • @MCTheo3 i think you have to have captured kyoto

  • @FlyingPenguinSki Yeh, you're right, man. I've done it now. You have to become Shogun. You get a massive boat as well :)

  • @MCTheo3

i think you have to be shogun

  • @MCTheo3 I think its down to the clan you play as so on a guess i think it only the Takeda clan that can recruit them but that just a guess

  • @MCTheo3 I think you can only build them in Kyoto.

  • @MCTheo3 You have to become Shogun, hold Kyoto for a year I think. After a small clip appears of you becoming Shogun, they Great Guard just spawn in Kyoto (2 units). You can later make more. Not sure if it has a limit on how many you can make...

  • Thanks for the guide helped me learn a lot of stuff ;D

  • darn, i made my general an upgraded bow unit >:(

  • @AngelBiLove You can reset your general skill tree for 3 clan tokens. If you don't have any clan tokens, feel free to join Tadoku. But there's nothing wrong with bow generals, they can be quite good if used right. When fully upgraded they can tear apart even general units.

  • @fishsandwichpatrol Thankyou for that reassuring comment. Ill see what i can do with my general. I wonder if i can just start over? Thankyou for the reply, btw.

  • @AngelBiLove Yeah you can get all your points refunded for 3 tokens if you don't like your bow general, but give him a chance if you like the idea of a bow general, they can be really good if used well.

  • I think the biggest tip you can give to a new player is tell them to learn to split their attention. I saw masses of the enemy army moving in on two sides, and he sort of prattled with moving to react. When my friends buy the game I try to help them learn that Shogun 2 is not your typical RTS where your men react to incoming threat. Best way to get ahead, pay attention and react to multiple things at once, don't zone out on something too much.

  • @xziaux True. But what's even better is to strongly take the initiative so the enemy has to react to you!

  • This helped a bunch, i just got shogun 2, and ive recently joined Tadoku.

  • hmm seems like guns are being nerfed I am likng that.

  • I never knew Yari were actually poor melee fighters. I haven't gone to multiplayer yet, but that's good to know. It'll give me insight to rebalancing my army.

Thanks for putting out this vid, yo.

  • @Seijitsu0 Yeah this game is much more rock-paper-scissors than older ones. In like Medieval 2 weapon type didn't really matter beyond cavalry being weak to spears but in this one swords > spears > cavalry > swords etc. Don't bring just spears!

  • @Seijitsu0 Really with certain retainers you can make a yari powerful on defence I uprade moral and defence with retainers and with vet points they become powerful in there own right in this way. Also I bring all yari and it works rather well:3

  • @lord0never0there Not that yaris aren't good fighters, they just won't win against a naginata or a sword unless they're pimped out against a fresh one. Even if they "won't win" though they can potentially hold out for ages.

  • @fishsandwichpatrol They do not need to win on there own they stop a charge flat and it takes forever for any sword/nagi to cut by. Also from what I have seen they do great in battle and sometimes do in fact "win" in hand to hand with swords or nagis keep in mind that this is my core so my yari ashus are pumped up to a high level. Also my bows ,guns and cav do the most killing in the fight while my yari ashus just hold the line. Also its great with 2v2 as my parter uses a lot of cavthensupports.

  • I know it's been a while since a comment has come up, but I'm getting shogun 2 and am fairly new to it. Watching this I think will help loads, so thanks. I did have one question. Do you ever use monks? If so, in masses or just maybe one or two units?

  • @Jmacisthebest7 They kind of suck now, I would never recommend massing one unit anyway but especially not now. In limited numbers they're very useful because if their debuff.

  • the guy who played this match needs to watch heir of carthage. he gives GREAT tips

he's not the best player but he is good and fun to watch

  • Forgot to thank Mr.2Ravage form the clan for the video, i learned bitz from that for sure!

  • I'd say our friend need to work on unit control, cavalry was abandonned in front of the enemy who charged no problems, use hotkeys, make groups. The opponent took advantage of this at 3:40. 75% of the army is off position coming up the hill.

  • @PasTropFancy Yeah, it's easy to panic and lose control of your guys if you're inexperienced. Better control will come with time and practice.

  • @fishsandwichpatrol So I just got this game, loving it, but I can't figure out how to set up hotkeys in-game, which would totally solve my micro issues. Is it CTRL + #? ALT + #? Seems like they don't work.

  • @inneroni CTRL + # to make control groups, ALT + # to set formations. I use ALT 3 for infantry, ALT 4 for cavalry, and ALT 1 for missiles.

  • And lets not forget! No wedge formation with cavalry!

  • @Wildcat425B Yes!

  • @Wildcat425B Wedge may not do as much damage but it breaks formations twice as effectively causing a larger hit on morale than head-on charge and leaving units very succeptible to surrounding manouvers.

  • I'd love to see some more general tips. I got a leadership one but thinking of respeccing to melee to see the difference... But afraid that the morale difference is to much. Whast your thought and experience with a melee general?

  • @MW2Profane I've always had a melee general and never regretted it (except against monk spammers). Your general can be a walking tank and you can use him to banzai into the enemy lines/general. It's great. My philosophy is that you're already spending up to 1800 koku on him, why not be able to use him in a fight?

  • i just joined your clan noticed you have spear speciality any will that everchange to bow or is it fixed

  • @Billyzgstar you CANNOT change clan specialization once chosen..

  • @stigblue yes, u can!

Our clan just did it, what happend was: we got moved down to tier 9 from tier 3.

We knew this was gonna happend, but it was important to change.

  • After seeing that, I think I know what I need to do in future battles, although I still think I'll need a little help getting use to this game, but as they they say...practice makes perfect even if its 8 humiliating defeats in a row. :)

  • @deblen476

hey man im the same way im sucking at this game but im having fun lol
