  • it's like an ak sniper rifle?

  • sooo this has a bolt catch release?

  • @istuddd Yeah, your hand.

  • @grannman lolz xD

  • You beautiful rifle is the Снайперская винтовка Драгунова Тигр or in English the

Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova (SVD) Tigr (pronounced as Teegr). It was designed by

Yevgeny Fyodorovich Dragunov ( Евге́ний Фёдорович Драгуно́в) as a snipers rifle in 1958.

Great movie. Thank you again for this comrade.

  • @mgvr6 mostly just used for plinking, but have used it successfully to hunt pigs.

  • What are you hunting with that thing man? Great looking rifle.

  • Comment removed

  • @NZsportbiker Do you guys have deer in NZ? Sorry about my ignorance to what animals are native and introduced to New Zeeland.

  • @mgvr6 Yes we have deer, but they were introduced long ago like most animals here. They are commonly hunted in the South Island and lower North Island.

  • great rifle, I don't know how you found a tiger with the gas regulator and long barrel already installed, you basically got a Russian SVD there.

  • @rollthelosingdice There's no 2-way adjustable gas tube on this tiger, although they can be optioned on from the factory when suppliers purchase them. I've seen Legion tigrs sold here with them.

  • what scope would u recommend if you were really worried about accuracy with the SVD?

  • You have a really nice range :) , as long as you want out on your deck, what I'd do for that luxury !

  • I see the tiger has more recoil than the psl, that doesn't make sense with the gas assembly.

  • @rollthelosingdice Depends what loads you're firing of course.

203gr is about as heavy as it gets in manufactured 7.62x54r

  • I like how simple it is to disassemble, very nice. And just wondering isn't the scope slightly to the left of the barrel? If so wouldn't that affect how you aim?

  • @ShvettiBalls The scope is roughly 1cm to the left of the bore. So if I zeroed the scope at 100m and shot at a bullseye at 200m the impact would be 1cm left of the bull (ideal scenario). At 800m it would be 7cm left of bull. If you had a 300m zero then the offset hardly matters as centre of impact would only be 1.7cm to left of the bull at 800m. So the offset isn't that big of a deal with the 8x scope at least which overhangs the barrel a bit more.

  • Везет же некоторым, Новая Зеландия круто! Не то что у нас в СССР ,все только для военных =(

  • @KRYVOYROG свобода

  • Gorgeous rifle. This gun would be considered the Holy Grail in the States because we have less than 150 real SVDs in the country. We have a few Tigers here but for some reason they only have 500mm barrels, so they're not the real deal. Enjoy it.

  • @wewd why so few in the states?

  • Hey Grannman, Does it slightly loose its zero when you take the scope on and off?

    Cheers

  • @goofysurfer03 There's probably a marginal difference. Unless you've got perfect ammo off a bench rest it's not something I've noticed really. So long as the clamp good and is tight and the mount stop pin has developed a good flat it works fine as a detachable system.

  • Wow

  • Assault category may to toped by Kalashnikov 47

but Sniper is ruled by Heckler & Koch PSG1...

  • @majidnineteen The PSG1 is a limited range police sniper. Sniper rifles have come a long way since the PSG1. Likewise, assault rifles have come a long way since the AK47. The Russians replaced the AK47 back in 1974.

  • @grannman The PSG1 was originally developed by H&K as a Urban Combat Military/ Police Sniper rifle. It became highly adopted by police around the world due to its control-ability and high accuracy. It also has the same effective range as your Dragunov (around 800m). It is a little more complicated and allot more expensive however and I believe that the Dragunov can match it in accuracy. The Dragunov's round also has slightly more power making the round travel slightly faster.

  • Comment removed

  • @grannman O wait I'm wrong, for some reason a Dragunov's round travels around 2700 feet per second and a PSG1's Travels around 2800 feet per second.

  • i thould the dragunov was from kalasnikov

  • @entertaineRaza Dragunov is from Dragunov

  • why russian weapons are sexy like russian women xD

  • @3lk3v about women: cause russians got mixture of over 20 different nationalities

about guns: after the 2nd WW government of USSR tendered for a contract for the the most reliable, easy to use automatic weapon. About 10 years after the overwhelming success of the AK-47 was filed in the tender for long-range weapons. The winner was an inventor Dragunov, which offered a rifle with interchangeable parts of an AK-47. Later, the sample was modified and found kind of modern SVD.

  • Can you attach a flash hider in any way, assuming they're legal in NZ

  • @xxReaverXXCerberusxx The front sight simply removes and you swap it with the military front sight which includes the flash hider as one piece.

  • Beautiful, i wish they would import some to the US.

  • @biloxipilot I started a petition for that a while back, but youtube won't let me post the link here. Pm me if you're interested.

  • I thought Australia had tough gun laws..like the Brits..I'm American...Just wondering about your laws there??//

  • @pentogram23 Here in NZ we feel sorry for the Aussies and British gun laws which are irrational to put it kindly. Still, compared with the USA, our gun laws a considerably more restrictive, and we have our fair share of gun law stupidity through regulating the appearances of firearms - when we all know it's the user that counts. We require firearm licenses and gun storage security. There's different licenses for pistols, and military style semi automatics (my dragunov is not an MSSA).

  • @grannman Thank you for your feedback..sorry for my ignorance..I cannt tell the differance between New Zealand accent and Australian...sorry ..and I agree...these two governments are controlling what their people need..treat them like kids..I hope you Kiwis never turn into another UK and Australia...

  • Hey look it's my cousin

  • Price?

  • Dear Santa..

  • Best thing about Russian Rifles is that most of them are made very similar

  • REAL SUPER GUN

  • I have just bought the 308 Tigr with po 3-9x42 scope which I am having trouble figuring out. Do you know where to find good info on how to use the scope?

  • @aaronooooo That's another name for the 1p21 scope that elevates itself as you dial in zoom?

To be honest given how 'busy' they are I think they would be a serious headache. Goodness knows what weight the scope's ballistics are set for, probably the 152gr 7n1 ammo.

If you go to dragunov.net - scopes - 1p-21 you will read a little about how they work. Also try googling 1p21 scope manual.

  • @grannman The 1p21 have a 4-12x magnification. aaronooooo's scope must be another one.

  • @Xerxes1688 The 1P21 is used in a variety of configurations including 3-9x42. Google it.

  • @grannman Basically 2, the 4-12x must be the military issue one, the 3-9x is the civilian one.

No matter, if it's a 1p21, any version, aaronooooo must calibrate it for one magnification. I dunno, I have the feeling that russians have another doctrine for everthing. Western civilizations carve for user friendly equipment, whereas russian are more easy to start with, but hard to master.

  • @aaronooooo where can u buy these guns and whats the price tag??

  • @driftkingFWD I Bought it from Gun City in Christchurch paid 3k

  • How about a pso scope tutorial, zeroing etc?!

  • It is not self-loading rifle Dragunov (SVD). This is hunting rifle "Tiger"

  • @Nicroman5000 Wrong. This is a self loading Dragunov rifle. All Tigr and SVD rifles come under the Dragunov label. Same production line, minor differences all of which can be swapped on/off except the barrel. Even then, as with this Dragunov's barrel, these rifles can be made by the factory in nearly any configuration.

  • I fell in love with you..

Oh yeah, im talking to the SVD!

  • comes in every russian happy meal!!!

  • Gas system is just like the SKS. Minus the small tappet piston that is. I prefer this system versus the the AK piston system.

  • @UrbanTiger74 Correction. There's a small tappet piston in the rear gas block in the SKS. So in essence, the SKS has a reversed version. Again, I like the SKS and SVD gas system more.

  • is there a website on were i can get one

  • that gas push rod is so thin, compared to ak's, it's like 8mm. Is it that thin in all dragunov rifles, original SVD etc.? Are there any issues with it?

  • @antiigravity for differences see the beginning. The pushrod and gas piston are not one of the differences. There is no hint of a problem with the strength of the push rod. Never has been and the identical design has been around since the 60's. The smaller it can be safely made the better - less mass recoiling. As for the gas tube, the adjustable tube the SVD uses as standard, and an option for any Tigr, just features a sleeve which unblocks and blocks a larger vent hole in the tube.

  • I love how that in the US i can get myself a Barret .50 Cal, but not a SVD....

  • @themuffinman217 I feel the same way! I have no need for a .50 cal, but an SVD would be fun. Kinda weird how that works.

  • @CPHannigan yep, exactly, id never buy a .50 cal, but its funny to see how the government actually regulates it. a DMR rifle such as this, is not ok, but we can buy the .50, M1A(m14) so its kinda idiotic.... so instead of a regular rifle round now we can get antimaterial and some real damage with that .50, its absolutely crazy, but id love to have this SVD such a beautiful rifle

  • Can you order guns from the izhmash website? I noticed in the contacts like for "Export Department for sporting and hunting firearms". does that mean they'll ship me guns?

  • @Anounulisly nope you can't. They'll only ship to wholesalers or perhaps a large retailer.

  • @grannman would they send it to someone with a Federal Firearms License?

  • @Anounulisly perhaps if you had the necessary paperwork and ordered a minimum quantity. You need to remember though that these are banned from import into the USA.

  • @grannman Damn, I think they are banned cause there considered an "assault weapon". Is there anyway around that?

  • @Anounulisly If there was they would definitely be for sale over there.

  • @grannman what kind of groups can you get with these? thanks.

  • they have iron sights like the svd dragunov right?cuz i hate scopes

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA You've got eyes right?

The dragunov was designed from the ground up to be used with a scope. It's not a marskman's rifle for nothing. If the worst comes to the worst there are back up iron sights.

  • @grannman i know its made to be used with scopes buth i just can't get used to them i like the iron sights

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA fair enough but the iron sights are pretty rough - like AK sights. They aren't as fine as mosin nagant sights for example.

  • @grannman ak-sights are "kinda cool" i've used a post 1951 production ak-47 and some copies(like 5 tipe 56 and 1 frankestein ak-47)the iron sights in the ak are a litle bit hard to get used to buth is an accurate rifle

  • @grannman and wath do u think abouth the bullpup dragunov the SVU and SVU-AS ?

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA They look the part and I'd like to examine one. The SVU is an improvisation rather than purpose-built which can mean issues. For example I'm wondering how solid the scope mount is since it extends forward of the receiver, or if the pistol grip would interfere when trying to rock magazines in. Also on the silenced version, having hot gas chug back through the ejection port right beside your face wouldn't be too comfortable. Would like to get my hands on one for sure.

  • can you get those in the US or are you not in the US

  • schwing

  • I hate the muzzle brake on the Tigr!

The svd ones looks a lot better.

  • @AK107 No Dragunov uses a muzzle brake but they do use flash hiders. Traditionally the Tigr does not use a flash hider. However fairly recently it looks as though Izhmash have included the SVDS conical flash hider on the Tigr.

Either way the front sight flash hider assembly is easy to swap on and off depending on your whims.

  • nice one...i would like to see a barrel on SVD a bit thicker though. chinese Norinco SVD clones have about 1-1.5" groups(in .308) with thicker barrel, versus 2"+ with a standard SVD in 7.62X54

  • @tbilisicentral I'd say the barrel thickness between the NDM x54r, NDM .308, Dragunov .308 and Dragunov x54r would all be nearly identical to the point of insignificance. Ammunition quality is the chief factor in accuracy between the lot.

  • @grannman Where are you from?

  • Beautiful weapon.

  • I agree, strangely relaxing to watch!! Excellent vid BTW

  • 9:29 hypnotic...

  • lucky lol..course i can have just about any type of gun accesories on 99 percent of my weapons so its a trad eoff...realy do wish theyd import these to america..

  • god!! the barrel really is short!!

  • @bazengao Barrel is Short? What are you smoking?

  • @618Bdown nothing at moment. dude the barrel it is short, in comparison with other guns that are semi-auto!

  • @bazengao You do realize the barrel run under the long ass hand guard too right?

  • @618Bdown duh! of course i know about! how do you think i am? one of thoose kids that play COD and thinks hi knows alot about guns?! of course not! i'm just a gun intusiast. and i do think that the butt stock i also huge for the gun! the dragunov would made a good bull-pup, but i do like its looks despite of it's size! you do know that the M81 aka barrett .50 cal has a small barrel for the ammo it shoots!?

  • @bazengao Ya never know these days, the COD dumbasses are taking over..lol...yeah this day and age a huge barrel isnt needed all the time, with the tech we have in our guns and ammo...I kinda like the short barrel type, my dad has a Thompson Center .270 with a 11" barrel and its a nail driver..

  • how much did it run you?

  • love the kick on the gun

  • Its a wonderful gun but I have a question, I live in America and have been thinking about buying a Dragunov Tigr but I'm not sure if I can use any old ammo because I had one rifle where I needed specific Russian ammo. Will I need to buy specific ammo.

  • @TarlZaralka any 7.62x54r ammo is fine. Izhmash list a 203gr bullet weight (13.2gram) on their website so clearly the Tigr can handle pretty much anything.

  • awsome vid but where is this vid made bc i can see the euro style outlets

  • Beautiful....

  • The action is more like an sks than an akm

  • Thanks for this video, it clearly shows the vast differences with the AK based Romanian PSL. I think I would prefer the more simplistic PSL though.

  • Thanks for this video, it clearly shows the vast differences with the AK based Romanian PSL.

  • Thanks for making the vid, no any other guides for the SVD

  • Excellent quality video. Thank you for posting this, as I have a tiger much like yours, though with a regular bbl, an SVDS flash-front sight, and a 1P-21 "Minuta" scope. I recently purchased a 1200 meter rear sight and SVD gas block, but I have yet to fire my rifle, so your post should be most helpful. Are you still accumulating parts for yours, or is your particular tiger configured to local laws?

  • @varanid9 Thanks. On my existing firearms license I can do pretty much anything except install a flash hider or larger magazine. If I upgrade my license I can do both. But I'm not fussed to be honest and so I'm leaving things as they are. Good luck with the 1p21. The 8x42 is enough of a headache with its click values.

  • @grannman Yeah, I've heard some discouraging things about the 1P21, but our russki friends seem to like it. I'm thinking (hoping) that "thinking outside the box" and approaching it differently from conventional scopes will do the trick; the instructions seem to be ingeniously simple, so I'm hoping other shooters have overcomplicated it. I have reservations about it mounting noticeably more to the left than even a PSO, though.

  • @varanid9 I'm not sure the Russians do use the 1p21 on the Dragunov much despite the marketing blurb that sellers peddle with it. From what I've seen and read I’d wager the 1p21 is uncommon on an SVD. It is physically a busy scope and most sharp shooters would find the forced elevation changes when adjusting magnification as a meddling intrusion, especially when using ammunition of different weights like incendiary or armour piercing that wouldn't conform to the scope's ballistic setup.

  • @grannman Most photos still show the good ol' PSO-1 on SVDs, though I have seen a couple with the Minuta. I've never seen the higher power PSOs or PKS-07 on them, but my impression is that they use what they can get. As long as I don't change the bullet weight, it SEEMS ok, but as I said, I have yet to see. However, I figure you are correct as my understanding is that it was originally intended for the PK machinegun.

  • Very good Rifle,I would love to own one and GunCity seems to be doing some nice deals on them and SKS's.

Do you prefer the PSOP or more Western Scope Names like Leupold?

Very good that the rifle comes with raw Iron Sights, useful if the scope lens are ruined out in the bush.

Also, comparative to the Kalashkinov rifles with the Reciever,Dust Cover and Bolt/Bolt Spring. The Gas Regulator looks bigger though as well as the cleaning rod seems to be stored above the barrel and front post sight full.

  • @fixdeluxe1 The posp scope is a bit of a pain due to poorly quantified click adjustment values. Value isn't bad but mine had a piece of glass rattle loose. Had to do a home job to fix it. Will be shifting to a metric scope in time.

  • @grannman So is Elevation set to something along the lines of quarter of an MOA and wind adjustment to 1 full MOA?

And yes, being manufacture in the Eastern Bloc means some, well production hastening measures must have been taken, including not boresighting sights.

  • @fixdeluxe1 The elevation is apparently .65 MOA while the windage is .5 MOA per click. That info was on a sellor's forum. The manual is hopeless and the online manuals are downright incorrect.

The rifle didn't come with a scope so there is no boresiting. The scope isn't Russian nor milspec but is a commercial setup in Belarus. The PSO scopes are the military grade ones apparently. The irons are on target though and the manufacturer engraves a line on the front post indicating zero point.

  • @grannman Wow then it must have some good ballistic performance off-hand,or be wildly inaccurate. Are the characters not Romanized?

Yea so it didn't come with that(after-market) sight, and I knew it was Belarussian you mentioned it before.PSO is the sight they use on that 9mm chambered rifle along the Draguanov pattern as well?

  • @fixdeluxe1 There's a wide variation of PSO scopes whare used on anything from machine guns to sniper rifles. Now days they are producing more modern ones like the 1P69.

I don't get what you're talking about with ballistic performance or accuracy. The scope adjustment click values are .65 MOA per click for elevation and .5 MOA for windage per the info I've seen. Hasn't got anything to do with the rifle or cartridge.

  • @grannman I was just jumping onto another topic, sorry there. But it does affect your ability to execute those shots....

Scopes like those are usually set to a certain pattern of rifle,i.e this one and thus are given mathematical adjustment values tailored to their cartridge?

    If I'm wrong,correct me.

  • @fixdeluxe1 you would be right if this was the traditional 4x pso scope which had elevation adjustments that grew in magnitude with every scale division on the turret. The POSP scope is just a weird setup but the adjustments are uniform so it doesn't matter what cartridge you're shooting. It is a headache to shoot at distances not zeroed for due to the pain in the neck calculating how many clicks etc. Metric is the way to go. 1cm at 100m click values is the way to go.

  • @grannman Alright.....do you have a Laser Rangefinder?

If not, then the rule of thumb may apply,or you could use landmarks at distances you already know and estimate it by multiplying those distances off your thumb then zeroing it in.

    I can't stand in-precise Imperial Units.

  • james bond intro xD 9:16

  • It would be interesting to see a SVD in 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.

  • @esh325 there's not much point. The AK47 & AK74 cover all the basic bases for those intermediate rounds. The Iraqi Tabuk rifle is probably the closest to what you suggest. To get decent range for sharp-shooting you really need a beefier cartridge.

  • @grannman Yes, you're right. I think a VZ 58 or SKS would be very close to a SVD in 7.62x39 minus the adjustable gas system.

  • I'm happy you have a real Dragunov, and not an Kalashnikov with an extended barrel. To many people confuse the two.

  • @Spyrogaux yes indeed they do.

  • Out of all fairness these scopes were not designed for competition shooting or one inch groupings.

  • Belarus was once part of Russia before the break up of the USSR,anyway i still think that the scopes made in Belarus are stronger than western scopes,i am not saying they are perfect but they are built stronger,i personally would never put a western scope on a SVD or any other kind of Russian rifle ,i like to keep things original.

  • @fastfire97 The USSR and Russia are very different things. Belarus was a member of the USSR just like the Ukraine, Russia and assorted Baltic states. POSP scopes aren't original but share the same style. For the price they probably do very well by comparison to competition. However the adjustments are large and not quantified making long distance shooting a Kentucky windage fest. On top of that my Tigr rattled an internal piece loose. I require some quality but will also keep a posp around

  • The Russian scopes are solid pieces of kit they were built for combat not like the fragile western rubbish, you can even carry your rifle using your scope,i have one fitted on my uk spec SVD 4x24v.

  • @fastfire97 any posp scope is not Russian but rather commercial Belarussian and not built to military specs. See my video watch?v=xFFfwZj_sjo

I've had my fill of it to be honest, but may give another one a chance.

On the other hand the PSO scopes are supposed to be Russian and built to military specs.

  • how much it cost?

  • Dragunov is a very beatiful rifle!

  • how much do these usually run for in used condition?

  • These svd's scare the police in canada and therefore are prohibited.

  • @lexmark136 A serious pity. A gun is a gun. Too many hoplophobic people look at cosmetics and somehow think the lump of inanimate steel, plastic and or wood becomes magically evil or something.

If you are fit and proper to shoot one gun you don't become magically unfit to shoot another gun. Pity some people can't understand that!

  • @grannman Yep very true. Infact.. many firearms are banned in canada simply because of looks.. others because of caliber, some because of barrel length.. it's ridiculous but theres not much we can do.

  • Wow looks awesome!!

  • is the scope that comes with it really good? or are other scopes more user friendly?

  • @DrewDawg50 The scope didn't actually come with it but yes it is of the style you'll see most common on Dragunovs. It's not particularly user friendly but it is usable. Click adjustment distances are a bit of a mystery despite the 'manual'. I've also had a piece of glass in the eyepiece come loose. The Belarus scope appearance suits the rifle on a purely cosmetic level, but I'm moving on to a fixed 10x mag scope, probably the metric Millett trs-2 10x50. Far more straightforward to operate.

  • @grannman thanks

  • does it kil the shoulder i know it fires big 7.62 by 54 round if i remeber correctly

  • you take a kalishnikov and stretch it

and you got a dragonuv for your self

  • @dhanedhar Nope. You must not know much at all about either gun's mechanics. Completely different rifles. Perhaps you thought the safety lever looked similar so you think the whole rifle is the same heh heh.

  • @grannman

But the parts are pretty similiar, right?

After all the SVD is based on the AK

  • @dhanedhar yeah

i remember in the kalishnikov the bolt carrier is attached to the gas piston

the target geometry i guess is little bit different

and also the rifling geometry might change by some ratio

  • @dhanedhar

no, then you'd have a PSL.

  • @sir8aeriosthethird buddy

    what is a psl

  • @dhanedhar an ak stretch out. same function as a ak, just longer and shoot the 7.62x54r. thats a psl

  • @SEALofthefuture1962

it shkoots more calibre rounds than ak

    right

  • @SEALofthefuture1962 The caliber is bigger than the ak and usually uses a 10 round magazine, unlike the ak, which uses the standard capcity if 30 rounds

  • Thats bad ass

  • thank you for the explanation of the firing sistem

  • You can clean the chrome wit fish fat it works 100% .

Thast how I clean my SVD and my fathers AK-47.

Try it if you dont baleve me.

  • how do you get your bore so clean? i dont think i've seen the chrome lining on my AK since i bought it. im wondering if the oil i used is making it harder to get clean?

  • @akshooter762 I just use boretech eliminator on a few patches pulled through with a cheap otis microrifle, plastic coated, pull-through. About 5-10 pases using the same pull-through and a kleenbore nylon brush, leave it to sit for about 10 minutes followed by dry patches.

No fussing with a rod or ammonia solvents (yuck!)

  • i think i would have a bit of trouble putting that back together.

  • what does one of those run you?

  • Beautiful fiream and good video. Thanks!

  • what's the difference between svd gas system and ak type?

  • @kai199191 best way is to find an ak field strip. The bolt carrier and piston in an ak are a single piece of metal and so more metal is cycling back and forth.

  • is the front sight detach
