@RichardHell1959 Noel Edmonds didn't know much about anything regarding The Who. First single in two years when Join Together was released in 1972 and Relay in 1973.
I love all their reactions when Pete kicks the drums. Roger turns around like 'wtf is he doing now? i'll just go with it.' and Keith is all 'woo!' and John.. Oh John, he's just like 'guess i'll stop playing now and just stand here.'
Apparently they weren't happy about the backing track, but they knew appearing on TOTP would be good for their record sales. After the performance Keith started a fight in the bar causing him to get a life time ban from all BBC Clubs.
I love how the guitar track is still going even after the guitar is in pieces. Stupid BBC. I'm happy Pete ruined the show like that. I'd be pisssed myself if someone decided they wanted to ruin my song. Quite a statement to smash the guitar of Who's Next and many subsequent Who and solo albums. Thank The Flying Spaghetti Monster it was completely repaired!
So about this clip.. TOTP was a recorded show and they would always record more than they needed, in case of screw-ups (they always do in TV). So I'm presuming that this clip was not actually transmitted at the time, and it was preserved for us through the good offices of Providence?
It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre. Now more than ever, British voters need to understand that they are being colonised. Unless they act decisively to halt this mass immigration wave, Britain and its thousands of years of culture, history and tradition will be submerged under the immigration invasion.
Police accused of being fearful in tackling culprits over citys growing toll of racial assaults THE number of white victims of racist attacks in a Yorkshire city has risen 30 per cent in a year to more than 300 and police have been accused of being afraid to take on the culprits
I heard it was due to Moonie getting drunk in the BBC bar after the show! It earnt them a lifetime ban at the time. They were on Top of the pops again in the 80's with You better you bet.
Just for the record the BBC banned the Who after this, I recall, due to damage to BBC cameras in the studio. I believe the band were wound up either due to backing track issues or because they had to shorten song to fit limited show format. Bring back TOTP though, even when it's crap it's still has a place!
Bravo Pete Bravo wish I could have been there.

how is pete so amazing even though he's drunk? he's drunk in almost every iconic footage of the who.
I also read that the WHO were banned from Top of the Pops for smashing their equipment here, is that true?

Two things occur to me, watching this video...
1. Moon, bless 'im, couldn't mime drums for all he was worth!
2. Noel Edmonds is a cunt.
There, my work here is done!
goatboy420 1 year ago
@goatboy420 1. Keith Moon hated miming so he used to treat it with the contempt it deserved!
2. Agreed.
