@marcelloney thanks, my newer videos have better sound quality, so check them out if you like :O) I usually use 30/50/70/90 strings, but sometimes 30-85, and 25-85!! Very thin!!! Someimes you get a bass with more string tension than other basses, but 30's are a good bet. try blackdogmusic.co.uk for cheap light guage strings
wow, dude pretty amazing! well, i play bass too... no, wait... i just takeing my guitar in hands, i'm not playing, but u do it ;d so i have few questions to you. where i can find some stuff from where you learnt this technique? Your right hand is faster than Les Claypool hand [sic!] how long are you play? its important, becouse i was playing for four years and still sucks. and the last thing: could you record tutorial of your technique for noobies like me? (sorry for mistakes i'm polishman) :)
@guugyl I came back into playing about 2 years ago, but was only a learner in the first place! Remeber to play between both hands like a drummer for fast slap work, its not just the right hand doing all the work. See Mark King bass technique on youtube and he shows this well. email me if you want some direct tips! I'm self taught so it might be all wrong!!
Thanks for the compliments mate, and your english is great!
Thanks. I know they retail for around $300. Been looking at Boss ME series for about the same price. You have a nice bass and seem to play well so I don't think you would put crap in your rig so it must be decent. I'm only looking for 4 or 5 sound combos. I play blues/rock ("Diego's Diner" on Facebook). I'm wanting to shape a slap sound, an octave sound, a clean fretless sound and a punchy distortion sound. Other than that I play thru chorus/flange/compressor w/old P bass Ampeg/SVT rig. Thanks
@4to88strings This pedal will do all that, check my more recent videos as the quality is much better and the 3000B is the only pedal I use! Everything I've done is on a budget, though the bass in this video is a very good one! The octave is great giving you the choice for higher or lower octave, and you can shape the chorus/flange to how you want it. You can save about 100 of your own settings, so its pretty versatile for what is now very cheap!
@jonannlou Yes on the 3000B pedal. We go to WAH then can't seem to figure out how to get to OCT which I believe is number 3. This was a gift and no one seems to know how to use it. my son is trying to use it do shift
up an octave and we just can't figure out how to do it.
@dbrindzik yes its no3, turn off all the other effects on 'edit' and make sure your bass/i nstrument has a good signal. Theres a bit where you can chose hi/lo for the octave. Once you have selected the octave bit try and boost the other sections and boost the EQ too... Let me know how you get on..
@jonannlou Hi, sorry. I dont even know what buttons to push. thats my problem. I only know how to get WAH in edit mode. Once I do that, which buttons do I push to get to to OCT and then what do I push to see OCT hi/lo?
@dbrindzik ok, press 'edit'. Turn off all effects by pressing all the 7 buttons that are below the list of effects. (possibly twice) Press no. 3 button (wah), then press metro on/off on the right. Spin the value switch to no.3, then you'll have the octaver. Use the 7 diaganol buttons to alter you sound, one will have the octave up/down, probably the 5th one down! Once you get used to programming this pedal you'll love it. Its all trial and error, I never had the manual too!
@jonannlou Hi Ok. so we turned off all effects. turned on wah, pressed metro on/off. spun the know to number 3, chose the 5th button down and spun the know it changed from 1-2 back and forth, but we never could get an octave change. :( We also tried a couple other diagonal buttons but could not see a difference. Maybe this Zoom3000b doesnt do the octave change?
@dbrindzik try all the diaganol buttons to increase/decrease the settings on the octaver. If it says oct it'll have it :O) Make sure you have your instrument on full volume too, or try it with another instrument.... Let me know how you get on, if no joy, I'll try and put a vid on if I get time. Turn the level up full. You need quite a strong signal otherwise it won't register the sound..........
@jonannlou Thanks so much for your help. My son was able to get it working using P-Pit, but not WAH/OCT. that last one would only let him go lower. He has saved it now into one of his user settings. Thanks again. BTW, you are an amazing bass player. :)
@EXTREMEGUITAR cheers mate, I use a mixture of compression and flange/auto wah and the eq adjuster bit! I'm putting on some new vids at the end of the month and the quality should be alot better, so keep a look out :O) Its a good biit of kit for the money and its fully programable, so plenty of different things to try out!
@jonannlou I have a chance to buy a used one for $70 US. Seller says it's in good shape and looks good in pictures. Good deal?? I use normal effects but was thinking of geting processor Boss etc. not familiar with ZOOM. Thanks for a reply.
@4to88strings I think I paid about the same, for that money its a good buy. theres alot of options and its fully programmable, theres also many was to adjust the eq so you can shape your sound. Zoom are usually cheaper than Boss, but do make some similar sounding effects
very imaginaitive...you have certainly spent alot of time playing and know your instrument...here is a question, have you ever had tendonitis or any injury from playing? I messed up my pip joint on my ring finger basically tore a tendon from the bone and then the tendon had tendonitis..this was when i was playing 25 hours a week though, i figure you may know about this sort of thing, i think there should be a special orthopedic dr who deals with players of all instruments hands
@DamonUK thanks D, I'll see if theres a cheap one out there :) Name that Dune Tune intro (year/venue etc...!!) Glad you enjoyed this, its been a while since I recorded me going for it!!
@theScytheofGod try some lighter strings mate, otherwise it a struggle to bend the strings from the nut! Berserk? Just letting off steam and having fun :)
@grahamaroo which model did you get? I'm trying to get the bits needed to make videos plugged straight into the pc, this bass sounds amazing through the headphones!! The camera mic is pretty crappy, but you get the idea!! Let me know how you get on with it!
@sirmoog cheers mate, just blowing off some steam!! The effects box is a Zoom 3000B, these are a couple of the pre-set's, but I usually program it myself as to how I want it to sound, not a bad little box :) Ps, name that Dune Tune intro...... !!!
Hi, you've got a really fantastic slap style and great sound !
