  • I just watched "Pillow Talk" on DVD last week. One of the singers steals the scene with the song "You Lied". I found out just today that her name is Perri Lee Blackwell. She is awesome with her comedic timing and her singing. The movie is a bit outdated, but Ms. Blackwell's parts modernizes it. I loved the facial expressions she used when shooting sardonic looks at Rock Hudson as his "Texan character" lies to the Doris Day character.

  • They're so cute together!!!

  • I love this one so much <3

  • Doris is a GODDESS!

  • It was the scene after this I was after, she sings another song when he gets caught out?

  • Doris Day und Rock Hudson kann auch keiner nachmachen!!!

  • Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsfilme!! <3

  • I LOOOOOOOVE this movie!!!!!

  • Perri Blackwell - what a gorgeous woman! A few years ago her identity wasnt anywhere on the net I could find. Nowhere to be found, even asked Brian at Brian's Drive-In Theatre. She is still with us and I hope she knows how much so many people adore her here in the 21st Century.

  • Go Granny Perri!!

  • It's none of your business what he does to me...or when!

  • LOL I love Rock's fake Texas accent at 1:42 :)

  • out of all the old movies i have seen in my lifetime and im a big fan of them this is my all time favorite thanks for posting it.

  • were can i watch this film online dose anyone know ?

  • I watched this movie three times in about a week because it was so great! Love Doris Day; she's such an amazing and wonderful individual. This was one of my favourite parts in the movie.

  • Makes me sad to see a representation of segregation. Black servants (entertainers) and all white clients at the supper club. :( Isn't it amazing it was only 5 decades ago?

  • the piano player does rock!

  • LOVE VINTAGE MOVIES......!!!!!!!!!!

  • @maureenmo1 My grandmother.

  • this is true. i will let her know....

  • ijs t

  • annpham, Thanks for posting, would you happen to know the name of the movie, where it looks like Doris was actually "flying the plane she was in"?

  • Best moment of the scene: when Rock Hudson, with his fake Texan accent, says "I'd call her" and then everyone sings hahahaha I love him in this!!

  • "Is this Roly Poly?" Geez, Doris! Couldn't you have waited a couple seconds and found out without bothering the pianist? Impatient much? ;-)

  • What a dream date Miss Morrow is!

  • Doris and Rock were fabulous together! I own three of the movies they made together. Pillow Talk is my favorite one. This song in particular is super catchy. But there's another one that the woman playing the piano sings about lieing that's hilarious :)

  • @Smalltowngal29, The other song was one of my favorites as well. The one that goes, "you lied, you dog, and you'll be sorry" (the name of the song is 'You Lied'). Thanks once again for posting, brings back great memories.

  • Thanks mom, I didn't know she did full length studio albums.

  • can i download this song anywhere? LOVE DORIS DAY! :)

  • the best romantic comedy ever!

  • Pillow Talk is one of the greatest films ever made. The "Roly Poly" scene is delicious and Miss Perry Blackwell deserves a lot of credit for that. I also love it when later on she sings "You Lied, You Cheated" and how she looks at Rock. Everything is perfect in this movie.

  • Best Doris Day & Rock Hudson Movie. This woman is so adorable and gorgeous!

  • Yes ...me too love this scene...actually love the whole film!

  • This song is so catchy.

  • Love this song and movie!!!!!!!

  • Those movies were the best!!!!! RIP ROCK!!!!

  • just look at the chemistry between them,it was obvious they were friends.

  • Doris never looked so good...

  • to funny

  • I like all Doris Day movies. She and Rock do have chemistery like none other. This scene is one of the best in Pillow Talk. My favorite is when the lady at the piano knowes he is luring her to the cabin. She has a song and the line is You Dog and looks straight at Rock.

  • Warming voice.

  • Absolute great ! I love this movie.

  • does any one has the lyrics ?

  • I love this movie and I believe this song hooked me for classic movies, lol. They were a great on screen couple. I don't know what it is about Doris Day but she's got a lovable quality about her that draws you in to watch her films.

  • absolutely love doris day... could watch her all day. :)

  • Doris was such a sweetie pie

  • ... oh I think she still IS so sweet... !!! =)

  • wow! gorgeous!

  • Ahhh.. one of my favorite songs in the whole movie!!

  • I think the black woman on the piano is the Divine Sarah... Oh what an instrument.

  • @tantrick she is Perri Blackwell

  • Hhaha love this song.

  • The black woman is my Granny Perri Blackwell She rocks!

  • Perri Blackwell is your grandmother? She's fabulous! Did she record any albums?

  • She did some other recordings in Film ( the original "dead ringer") but nothing else as far as album (for herself) she did for others.

  • THANK YOU! I've wanted to know that for the longest! It was probably in the credits, but I'd always forget to look.

  • You are welcome I think , her name is actually in the opening credits, if not it is close to the end. She told me the Ms. Day was so nice to her, and that she was really sweet despite the times!

  • I'd like to know the name of the other song she sang, after she found out that the guy was two-timing Doris... "You dog... you... scoundrel.." all that.

  • It was "You Lied" sung by Perry Blackwell - who is still alive and well aged 83/84 I think. Her daughter RonE L posts on You Tube.

  • So does her youngest grand daughter! Me.

  • Well ExodusWill - you give Grandma a big hug from me and tell her she has inspired me a great deal. I love to sing along with her in my own home xx

  • I love Ms. Blackwell, is she still with us?

  • @MerleOberon yes she isd

  • @ExodusWill How great! Tell me, does she still rock? That is, does she still sing and play the piano? I love this tune. It'll stay in my memory forever!

  • @ExodusWill

This is your Momma and your Granny recorded 3 albums for herself

They are Perri Lee Live at the Parisian Room, Perri Lee Trio, and

Perri Lee at Count Basie's FYI ok and also Sonny Still's Top Brass

    a few others. OK

  • @ogRonelee ok mommy

  • @ExodusWill Very cool. I love her singing and presence in this scene with Doris Day and Rock Hudson in "Pillow Talk."

  • @ExodusWill, If this is true please let her know how much we enjoyed her performance as well? I remember this scene and song more than any other in the film, and when I was younger seeing performers like her in films made us feel proud, and YES she most certainly does 'rock'.

  • @jebeja i will

  • @ExodusWill Hi My name is Mary Campbell and I'm a singer working on Doris Day material. I really enjoy your grandmother's cameo in this iconic movie -- I'm sure this is a great story there. Can you tell it to me? Was this Perri Blackwell's song? Was Perri from New York? How did she get into this movie? Was this song a hit for her and her appearance a treat for movie goers then? She's amazing...I just love Perri!

  • @ExodusWill You should get her mentioned on Imdb or something. She's mentioned there as Perry Blackwell. I tried to find some recordings but can't find anything. Love her voice - she rocks indeed! Especially love the 'You lied', you dog..

  • Omg, Rock had the cutest, sexiest laugh and smile. Poor guy. RIP Rock. You were my inspiration to come out when I was 19. You proved to the world and to my parents, that not all gay men were flamers (not against flamers at all, btw) and to debunk myths about gay men and masculinity.

  • I love this song~* In my school play we're doing Pillow Talk, opening night is this weekend, I'm Jan Morrow, it's so much fun~*

  • I used to think this was what it was like to go out to bars when I was a kid. I was grossly disappointed when I got older...

  • haha i know me too!

  • I think the problem about the bars not being this way is we don't have young Doris and Rock in there singing at the piano. It's probably best most of us aren't singing in the bars.

  • Oh I love it! This song and movie are faves! THANKS

  • One of my favorite movies!

  • I love this song, I love this movie, and I LOVE Doris Day!!! I think it's hilarious when she says "He's a fat one!" LOL!! I also like, after this song, when the piano player starts to sing "You Lied...you dog...and you'll be sorryyyy...!"

  • i like this song very much...

  • Thanks, one of my favorite scenes from the movie.

  • @debbiausten1 me too

  • Just want to say THANKS for posting this. It is such a pleasure !!

  • 0:20 lol

  • ThaT sonq is very funny =)

  • Miss Morrow is known in all the smartest clubs

  • Love it! Who know's the piano player? I think origially from

    Chicago?

  • the piano player is perry blackwell.

  • those were the days

  • Extra poignant considering Roy Fitzgerald (aka Rock Hudson) was a fat little kid.

  • Love Doris! Thanks for posting.

  • OMG! I LOVE this movie! They are so beautiful together!

    Thank you for posting. ;-)

  • Thanks for reminding me of Nina Simone.

  • don't you mean perry blackwell?

  • Guys this is awesome thanks a bunch.you all can make an old gal happy all day and night.

  • That would be Nina Simone on piano. legendary jazz/blues singer.

  • that would be perry blackwell on piano. she was brilliant and passed away recently.

  • Great couple and great song! she sings because it's necessary for the movie that the girl knows singing. If you watch all the movie you understand it.

  • I'm sure this scene was included in "Pillow Talk" just to give Doris a chance to sing, because this was a transition for her away from the straight musicals she'd been doing previously. Thus she has to act a bit hesitant to perform: "Me, sing? But I don't know all the words!" C'mon, Doris, we KNOW you can sing! So, of course, she does. And delightfully, as always.

  • Just finished watching this movie at a friend's place and we both howled with laughter. They don't make films like this anymore! It's a gem.

  • Thanks so very much for posting this video. This movie is a favorite of my family and we always get a kick out of this song. My daughters and I enjoy bursting out in song with the "You lied, you dog, and you'll be sorry..." whenever someone admits to telling a white lie or two. Thanks again!!

  • Our Doris. Happy Birthday!

  • Oh -- I love it !!

    Thanks !

  • Ilove this scene!

  • My Fav;s So Much Fun!! Truly

Sensational Love Doris Day.. Barbra Dean and Elvis the Best!! #1

I like the song she sings after... you lied, you dog, and you'll be sorry, you lied, you hound and thats not fair, (cant get hold of that song either) doris day is just a great singer!

  • what is that girls name thats on the piano does anyone know!!!!

  • Perry Blackwell, who was a real jazz cabaret artist in the 1950's.

  • thank you for the answer where can you get the other songs from her

  • You can also see Perry Blackwell in "DEAD RINGER" starring Bette Davis. She performs in Edie's Bar.

  • thank you very much for the info ill check that out
