they all are totally different sports. snowboarding came out of a combo of skate and surf from geniuses like Sherman Poppen, Tom Sims, and Jake Burton. surfing is an ancient Hawaiian sport and skateboarding was originally derived of shortboard surfing. all have evolved into insanely different sports. boards like "the wave" or ripsticks tried to bridge them all but failed. though they are equally fun.
