  • That troy lady is hot

  • What's with all the friggin sex videos in the related videos?

  • ...anyone else think Hardy's getting fed up of all these bald roles? lol

  • I will say, that despite the awful plot, this was the only Next Generatio movie that had moments that felt like a "real movie." Like, scenes actually were presented in a cinematic way, not in a way that feels like, "Oh, the movie crew is just the transplanted crew that worked on the show."

  • "he reminded me too much of dr. evil" yea, well you remind me too much of dr. zoidberg. jk

  • Comment removed

  • No... I want an action movie... just to be an a-hole...

  • he didnt want to whole prator thing lol

  • I guess Spock was in hiding while this is going on?

  • Of all the inconsistencies and plot holes in this film I think the blood transfusion thing baffled me most of all. He was dying, he could have lived if he had the transfusion, he had the blood and yet he never used it. Then they act like he never got the blood at all and was still after it.

  • holy shit that's Tom Hardy

  • Was the Tal'Shiar destroyed in the joint attack with the Obsidian order against the dominion before the war began?

  • SPRING BREAK!

  • It's really a shame that so many movies now think more action is better. As the story progresses, the action scenes get more elaborate and confusing, to the point where it's an unneeded element. Harry Potter, with the quidditch scene in the Sorcerer's Stone being a fantastic addition to the film, omitted the quaffle holders and beaters by the 2nd, and completely lost any element other than the Seekers by the third movie, where they might as well just have removed the quidditch scene entirely.

  • Shinzon is played by Tom Hardy, who would later play Eames in "Inception" and Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises."

  • @murdock283 yes we all know

  • ....and thats the whole estimate of Kill everything on that ship :| lol

  • "Why does the tall man have a furry face?" Is probably the only quote I like from that movie.

  • Absolutely agree with your comments about the "Power Play" episode and about how beam shots in Khan had a strategy element whereas in this film they're just random. I don't think you're always right, and most of the time you're just joking, but I think that films do sometimes depend on action more than on good stories.

  • My goodness, the Dr. Evil juxtaposition was like something out of everyone's subconscious.....so hilarious!!

  • Those comments about the Power Play episode are right on the money. So bloody. true.

  • Now that's a spinoff movie I'd watch: Remans Go Wild - Springbreak on Risa!!1!

  • Wrong! Wrong you asshole! Wrong!

  • lol you are great. this sarcasm kills me.:)

  • OMG Dr. Evil...... "Sharks with fricken laser beans attatched to their heads!" LOL! Memories.......

  • Wrong! Wrong you asshole, wrong!

  • Having seen the film again.

Shinzon had the support of the Romulan military to make the ship. That's how he did it. If you watch the first scene the senator says 'It is not the place of the military to dictate policy.' This is just before Shinzon does his hostile takeover.

Admittingly, it was never explained how he was able to do this in the film. But from what was told it seemed as if he was able to convince them that he was the man to make the Romulans more powerful.

  • @gideonblackman you only need to say things once you jackass

  • Wrong! Wrong! You asshole Wrong!...

Why can't someone tell these filmakers this before they make it?

Believe it or not, "Insurrection" was my favorite TNG movie, but that's obviously not saying much. The reason it was is because it felt most like a 2 hour episode. A bad episode, yes, but still more entertaining than a mindless action movie.

  • Holy shit..."Shinzon reminds me of Dr. Evil" made me lose it completely. It's been a long time since I laughed till it hurt.

  • 0:16

Wrong, Wrong you asshole Wrong ;D

  • John Logan should be making scripts for fairy tales not for serious movies.... even this is a sci-fi

  • Haha. I love those holiday snaps.

  • The thing about action is why Doctor Who has lasted for 30+ Years. Something like trying to outsmart a twisted man living in a dream, or trying to make a little girl believe in a raggedy Doctor visiting her one night outshines a big dumb gunfight.

  • I loved it when Shinzon grabbed Picard at the exact moment Austin shouted gotcha!

  • the Dr. Evil comparison is a work of genius

  • @mcguffry Why (just curious)

  • @mcguffry HAHAHAH!! Nemesis sucks.

  • Ouch, baby. VERY ouch.

That's what this movie did to Star Trek. If their plan was to end TNG on a high note, they failed.

  • 'I think the audience wants Star Trek to be an action movie.' Sigh. The cast : (

  • "There's even a crying baby that's threatened." LOL

  • ...picked up some ladies on spring break...SPRING BREAK!

    This guy is hilarious.

  • My old Theatre teacher once said: "when you amplify everything, you say nothing!"

  • I had a definite problem with Shinzon from the beginning. I had high hopes when the Enterprise got sent to Romulus to speak to the Reman leader. Hmm, who are the Remans? Wow, Data's description of them and of Shinzon sounds really fascinating. Oh, he's just Picard's clone? What, they can't have a great leader of their own? Why are they just miners? Wouldn't it make more sense if they built the ships too? It might have explained how they built a scary warship.

  • Vacation Reemans may be your best piece yet.

  • @PissedGrunty That was hilarious indeed.

  • This film could have been like the TUC in that the Romulans and Federation could have worked together to stop Shinzon. I'm not talking two Romulan ships that do shit all, I mean actually finding common ground and working together. It would have been a fitting sendoff for the TNG crew.

  • @eepruls Exactly! They could have had the Romulans fighting alongside the TNG crew against a common foe. Maybe the Remans, instead of slave miners, could have been the aliens that the Romulans displaced when they came from Vulcan to settle on Romulus, coming back to take revenge long after the Romulans had thought they'd been wiped out. Yeah, that would have been way more interesting. :(

  • vacation on riza: priceless

  • Crusher explains that only a complete transfusion of compatible (Picard) DNA would work.

  • Shinzon looks like.....Howie Mandel!

  • Why didn't Shinzon just ask Picard if he would do a blood transfusion? If Picard isn't a total asshole I don't see any reason why he wouldn't want to help him out.

  • @sniper6081

Because that means Picard would die?

  • @Kleavers People don't die from blood transfusions. They don't take all of a person's blood. Only some of it.

  • I frickin' lost it when I saw the Reman moon base

  • I feel like a total faggot for noticing this, but doesn't the anti matter thingy look like a NEVERMIND FUCK IT

  • damn movie its a ripoff of austin powers

  • Comment removed

  • That is one terrifying spring break.

  • HHAHA The pictures of them on Holiday are so damn funny!!

  • Hahaha, I love how you always refer to aliens as monsters.

    AND WHERE'S MY PIZZA ROLLS?!

  • At least Austin Powers made more sense...

  • what the remans are lover cast of the momulans or the vulcans? or were the remans and vulcans releated? or the romulans the same as vulcans? WTF!?

  • Shinzan looks like Michael Myers in,'54'....''You make me feel Mighty bald''.

    He'll wanna funk in a minute..ho,ho !!

  • SPRING BREAK! :D

  • You make some very good points, RedLetterMedia.

  • YOU MAKE MAKE AMAZING POINT ON THIS MOVIE

  • 1:34 Sirtis broke her coccyx in this scene.

  • We don't want Star Trek to be an action movie. Yes, we want story and character growth, but we also want the things that Gene Roddenberry made the show famous for: addressing issues relevant to us that we can't/don't address. Some Q want to kill themselves. Some customs are cruel and incomprehensable. White/Black aliens hate Black/White aliens. Substance addiction. Growing up with parents in different cultures. Sexuality. The best episodes in each series, even in Voyager, resonate with us.

  • WRONG ! WRONG YOU ASSHOLE WRONG !!!!

  • I think that Jonathan Franks should have directed Nemesis

  • @dfr2221

Nemesis would be way better if Franks directed it. Brian Stuart, who has never seen a Startrek film is one of the reason why it failed. He is more of an editor than a director.

  • You are so right!! The series was way better than this garbage. The Next Generation was great, this is stupid! Nice review!!

  • action definitely. But it has to be second to the story and development.

  • I got excited even watching that clip from "Power Play." It's a tense situation as the captors and their hostages walk down the hallway past the helpless crew members.

  • iono maybe he LIED about his motives?

    nemesis rocked.

  • One would think that the Nemisis movie ripped off some of the Austin Powers sequel. The resemblance is utterly uncanny.

  • I cracked up so hard at the whole Remans on Risa thing. Lol.

  • We should have seen Captain Riker's USS Titan in Nemesis. For ten bucks a ticket in 2002 we got shortchanged out of seeing more.Worf could have even been his Executive Officer. The Plot could have brought the Titan into battle and Riker and Worf could have gone onto the Enterprise to help Picard in Battle.Bad story ! Data's death was like a Cylon downloading before Death. Data's memories would have been fully downloaded into the Enterprise computer and constantly updated a lot so he ain't Dead

  • Dr. Evil is a humor villian...That just shows how stupid this Star Trek movie is

  • and why the hell did shinzon name his ship after a sword that was used by arabian warriors. this guy paid a lot of attention to the human-middle-east-history lessons he attended during his time in the mines.

  • Director: The Shinzon character, cant be just a straight bad guy, he's not.....a bad guy.

Shinzon: "Deploy the weapon," (rapes Counciler Troy), "Ill always be with you now,""Kill everything on that ship"

  • Maybe it would have been cool if this movie had taken place before Shinzon released the Remans, that way it could have been like he went to Picard to ask him for help releasing the Remans before going batshit insane with clone issues.

  • Youve never seen austin powers?

  • WHO THE FUCK IS DR. EVIL??????

  • i completely agree with you on this. J.J. abhrams did this even worse in his "version" of star trek.

  • i havnt actually seen Nemesis, but all i can think is that those remans look like something from that old kids show stingray

  • The Shinzon= Dr. Evil comparison made me laugh so hard, my roomates woke up.

  • the answer to your geustion at 4:35, is that Shinzon hadall of he knowledge and memories that Piccard had.

  • Nemmesis has only one good Point. And that is that a Competent Writer could have made a ok movie with the concept. And that's only a good point if you compare it with STV.

First Contact and Reboot can be fun if you turn off your brain.

Genarations and Insurrection had at lest a spark TNG in it.

Insurrection? You can like it as 12yold.

When you only want to see some Space Battles and pointless Action.

  • Now we have a whole new reboot of this, set in stone, garbage. We dont want action we want something that opens up the mind. Star trek is dead.

  • 9:24 lmfao rofl

"He is exactly like you in every way"

    SHINZON

    LMFAO

  • Shinzon and his reman viceroy going on vacation, drinking cocktails, playing volleyball in the pool and taking pictures with bikini girls

    LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO

  • 7:34

"Shinzon had a passing interest with Troi cause she had a virgina and he probably never did it with a chick, maybe he fucked a reman in the ass"

    LMFAO ROFL

  • When you have a limited budget, action is only considered when absolutely necessary. When you have a big budget, action is considered absolutely necessary.

  • that sequence intercutting Nemesis and AP 2 is fucking genius

  • nooooo i hit the dislike button x(

  • lol @ 8:00

  • Doesnt the new star trek star an angry asshole bald romulan who's pissed off at the universe for rather vague reasons?

  • Lincoln log

    LOL

  • Don't you people understand movies yet? Having conviction or being evil gives you unlimited resources to accomplish your evil goals.

  • "There's even a crying baby that's threatened."

  • The connection with Mr. Evil is very funny :D

  • @bbhaver He didn't spend 8 years in Evil medical school to be called Mr., thank you.

  • @RedLetterMedia actually it was "Mr, thank you very much"

  • @RedLetterMedia I thought it was 4 years

  • @bbhaver Nice observation.

  • "pointless action is boring" -> indeed the most brilliant thing ever said about action movies. EXACTLY.

  • This part of the review is fucking hilarious! I just about died laughing from the Shinzon Risa vacation bit and the Dr. Evil comparisons. LMAO!

  • I was mocking Shinzon's accent "Picccccaaard!" for weeks after watching this awful movie. Derivative, contrived and stupid, hated hated hated it. Though it did provide me with a lot of laughs. OF COURSE the "evil" aliens have floor length leather Matrix-like clothing, ugh.

  • "maybe he fucked a Reman in the ass, but he really wanted a girl"

    That sounds logical.

  • It occurs to me that JJ Abrams' Star Trek is a response to this movie, almost. Romulan miners with a gripe against both the Empire and an iconic member of the cast follow their bald leader into battle against the Enterprise. There are two versions of at least one such iconic cast member present in the movie. And it's made and marketed as an action movie. And yet Star Trek worked. Not as a Star Trek movie, really, but as an action movie, definitely.

  • @SchleppyLundo Very astute. You'd think it would be easy to make a good movie about the Romulan Star Empire. Their schemes are delightfully over the top evil, and usually work. Plus their ships are pretty. Not in THIS movie, but usually they have the nicest ships.

  • @SchleppyLundo The new Trek Romulans neither act like or look like any Romulan I remember.

  • @hopelessone15 yes they do. You're just being deluded by redletter's viewpoint

  • The BEST action in ANY Star Trek is Best of Both Worlds!!! Its EPIC, heartbreaking, tons of depth and iconic. That episode literally CHANGED the ENTIRE Trek universe!

  • 9:06 LMAO!

  • Somehow the episodes where regular cast acts like "Im now the blox from planet uxma" are just annoying to me. Trying to cut the special effects budget maybe..

  • Shinzon's Springbreak on Risa prequel PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • "They wanted to replace you with Mini-Me."

  • A man who speaks like Jame Gumb from Silence Of The Lambs expertly picks apart plot holes and shoddy writing in sci-fi movies. And it's completely brilliant, so much so that like all good ideas you can't help but wonder why it wasn't conceived of sooner.

Can't wait for the Episode III review.

  • I like the end of this because it shows how contrived and formulaic big budget films have become, even down to how action scenes are edited.

  • The "vacation" photos floored me. Would it be considered prejudice if I refused to get into the pool while that snot covered Remus was soiling the water? Just when the pool reopens from being closed due to AIDS along comes a Remian to ruin another Summer!

  • I laughed too fucking hard.

  • SECRET STAR TREK NEWS UPDATE:

The producers of the recent (uggg) "Star Trek: LOST" movie, unhappy with the box office take on this last effort, have threatened to make a new sequel unless the governments of the world send them ONE MILLLLLION DOLLARS! And more lens flares...

  • "ouch baby, very ouch" Watching this review makes me wanna watch Austin Powers

  • Star Trek, leave the action to Star Wars!!!! XD

  • Remus is used by the Romulans for mining and weapons manufacturing. Remians are used to make the weapons as well. As mentioned in the movie the Romulans had used the Remians in the Dominion War and Shinzon gains much respect in the Romulan Military this is what allows him to build a ship he had Romulan supporters who wanted to gain power themselves by helping Shinzon.

  • @ademusPrime12 Is this in the film or a comic book?

  • @ademusPrime12 And apparently, this was not clearly explained.

  • stardate 63873.5

    the Remans invade Risa

Immediatly the Risans create a sexual resistance cell

    stardate 63905.7

The starfleet starship USS Libertine NCC-6969 arrives to Risa

    stardate 63915.9

The dispute is ended in a massive.....

    .....orgy

  • ouch is right, that's a brutally damning review! those comparisons with doctor evil completely undermined shinzon

  • Planet Ooksmal

  • Was the romulan eagle holding up a pair of balls 9:36?

This crap IS straight out of Austin Powers!!!

  • Was the romulan eagle holding up a pair of balls 9:36?

This crap IS straight out of Austin Powers!!!

  • "Excesive action does not always mean effective action"

Are you listening to this Micheal Bay, you talentless fuck?????

  • from now on if plinket aka stroke guy has an opinion on anything, I will withhold my own opinion until I know what he says

  • Demand for redlettermedia twitter is skyrocketing

  • Oh no! The director is British! Im so ashamed

  • Shinzon was totally Dr. Evil and I thought so at the time.

  • Ouch baby. Very ouch!

  • 7:42-9:56 - Pure awesomenss! XD

  • Shit! Shinzon WAS Dr. Evil. I saw it too. I just didn't realize it until now.

  • The Dr. Zoidberg voice makes these reviews 50% funnier.

  • I know right?? Hes a laugh :D I sound like him when im mumbling tho so i dont know what that say about me... XD

  • :49 That's the problem though - this ISN'T a good action movie!

  • The Remans look like the old UK comic book character Doomlord.

  • "How do the Ree-maenzs have the resources they do?" They were used extensively during the Dominion War! Think of them as "Grunts" from Halo. Yea they send them in to die, but they don't deny them education.

  • @unytcommsys Yeah, actually thats exactly what they would do. Cannon fodder only needs to know how to fire the gun. Thats it. Thats the point of cannon fodder. You have a lot of them, and they are really cheap to replace. That means no major education, no major training. Furthermore that doesnt explain how the Remans had THE RESOURCES, as in the raw materials and technology. They're right on the door step of Romulous, you think they wont detect the Scimitar being constructed and tested?

  • This movie sucks, because "If the noise doesn't mean anything to you, then it doesn't work." - Gene Siskel

  • Wow.... I totally didn't pick up on the way this movie ripped off Austin Powers.

  • Man i cannot believe Tom Hardy would go from Mini Me to being Charles Bronson where he was fucking amasing

  • "they were going to replace you...with Mini Me"

  • maybe he really did a reman in the ass but he really wanted a girl

  • 7:40 Spring Break!!

  • "If you want to be the leader of the Romulan Empire you should expect some conference calls."

  • "Let's recrap" 6:49

  • romulans and remans?!

    how original

  • The Dr Evil sequence was hilarious

  • Shinzon is strangely sexy. I'd hit it.

  • Oh absolutely. I'd do him twice.

  • Seconded.

  • get ready.....it's people walking down a hallway

  • Love it - really good review. I love listening to these.

  • spring breaaaaak

  • Shinzon=Dr Evil=win.

  • The Risa Postcards with the Remans holding drinks, playing vollyball etc... was hilarious and the reviewer was probably right... if Shinzon had a girlfriend he could have gone joyriding around the galaxy in the Scimitar instead of picking a pointless fight with the Federation !!!

  • "Wrong! Wrong you asshole! Wrong!" (0:16)

    OMFG ROFLMAO

This is not only genius but also down to the point!
