'British' bashing is kinda deemed acceptable coz nowadays (post colonial era) the notion of being 'British' is only really used when you're filling out your passport form or other formal document. It is kind of funny to here someone with a Scottish accent using the word we when talking to Americans. I know that Craig is an American citizen now and he has lived in America long enough that he has every right to do so. But you have to admit...he still sounds like a Scotsman. It is kind of funny to here someone with a Scottish accent using the word we when talking to Americans. I know that Craig is an American citizen now and he has lived in America long enough that he has every right to do so. But you have to admit...he still sounds like a Scotsman. And that is what makes you scratch you're head a bit at first.

I agree that there's a bit of awkwardness to it, but he's completely legit. He's legal and naturalized, he just hasn't taken speech classes to work out the accent. Actually, If i were him, I'd keep the accent- It's unique and different.

OK guys...it's not an argument about whether on not Craig is American or not. Everyone acknoledges that he is in fact an American citizen. And yes America was born from immigrants.
It's just an idle comment that it's funny at first to hear someone obviously from Scotland count themselves amongst the American. There is a bit of cognitive dissonance you have to admit.

Actually the whole basis for the American revolutionary thinker's ideas came from theories developed during the Age of Enlightenment, which in turn was largely started by french and SCOTTISH theologians. These ideas were then taken across to the colonies in America by Scottish settlers and traders, so there is a history of Scottish people telling americans what to do.
