  • excellent stuff man! i want to get started at funky guitar, i usually play rock and a little metal but i'm loving this genre this period, would you reccomend me some videos, dvds or books to get started?

  • Great one, can't get enough of this!

  • which backing track are you using?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice sound! Relly nice!

  • Great!

  • my hero :')

  • wow, very nice dude, ur a master

  • impressive (for a white guy ;) )

  • I love it

  • This was very entertaining to watch, great playing man. I'm 28 and just starting to learn and hope to some day be able to jam like that

  • Amazing playing! ;)

  • Nice work with this, did you do the backing to this or did you download it? im really getting into funk music but cant find any really good backing track, not sure if you can help with this but anyways great tune, thanks for posting it :)

  • awesome guitar work !

  • 15 people can't play guitar...

  • disculpa amigo Como se llama esa melodia ?

  • Pardon my ignorance, but when you are jamming are you improving with chord/scale changes or are you playing one key the whole time? Great jam tho man.

  • 14!?.......WTF!

  • Nice jam dude, no pointless shredding or 'showing off technically', just some nice soulful funky melodies.

  • @jimiistheking So funk isn't technical? Wrong.

  • You're no Korean chick, but fucking great nonetheless :)

  • Yeah, those American strats have 22 frets! Good job man, sounds great, killer!

  • Can i use this?

  • nice funk riffs

  • That was sick ass all get out. Props for sure. Keep it up.

  • damn that chorus is stuck in my head...great job though. very melodic, catchy and accessible. love the feel and tone. you're only sliding 'A shape' major chords up and down the neck for the chorus right?

  • @retroguy02 they're just octaves (root on the e or a, and the octave on the d or g, open E5 or A5 chord shapes missing out the 5th) - i say just octaves, depends what you do with em, this guy makes it sound nice!

  • I want to play funk guitar.

  • i respect u sir. keep on funking

  • Santana anyone?

  • Damn it I watched this video over 1000 times and I just can't get bored of it. XD

  • Really good, really like your style :p

  • GREAT!

  • Your neighbours must love you.

  • Damn....Your FREAKING good!

  • nice sound man!!!!

  • it´s fantastic !!!

  • damn bro you're good. i've been jammin alot to this lately. it'd be better if it was just the guitar tho! lol doesn't really matter tho, just a suggestion

  • So Clean!

  • @LWRCftw Yup, there's plenty legit strats around with 22 frets.

  • @soundwrks

Wrong! Real strats have 25 frets!

  • @TurkeyTuck Please tell me you're trolling, there is no guitar in the world that has more than 24 frets LOL

  • @PenguinarityProd

I'm trolling, but there's guitars with indeed, more than 24 frets. No joke, there's 27 and 30 fretted guitars. I think ESP has a model with 27 frets.

Oh yeah, and there's also 5 string violins. I'm sure you also know there's 7 string and 8 string guitars too, right?

  • @LWRCftw that's the standard for strats, isn't it?

  • @zZHighwayToHellZz no, strats usually have 21 frets.

  • @LWRCftw hm, yeah it may be, went to the guitar center to try some strats today actually, they all had 22. But I guess some have 21. I would hate that though, since I would have to do a 1 and a half step bend to get to E, if you know what I'm sayin?

  • @zZHighwayToHellZz Strats originally only had 21. A lot of ignorant enthusiasts seem to think that they all have 21, and if it has more, it's a fake.

  • @LWRCftw Yep all newer Strats from the late '90's have 22 frets now.

  • @Robowx oh. lol i feel pretty stoop.

  • Muito bom!

  • we want backing track

  • did you do the bass for this??

  • 0:34 -1:07 was my favorite part.

  • This is so good!! Wanna put this into my iPod

The chorus is one of the best things I've heard

    I love FUNK!!

  • RESPECT your very funny

  • those guys saying "Rehersed" and all that kinda pisses me of.. ! hahah....

    really cool playin man

  • @dangnomen thanks man! much appreciated :)

  • really nice playing man !

  • that's awesome!

  • usas pedalera ??

  • @danielRasta100 I assume your asking about pedals? No effects other than the on-board Micro BR's - annoyingly I don't remember what I recorded this with. I think it's P48: SmoothLD. But honestly, if you want a sound fitting for this type of thing, the best thing I can advice is a nice compressor and a decent overdrive pedal. My personal fave is the Maxon OD808, Fulltone also do a great selection with true-bypass.

  • la musica es de alguna cancion?? o tu la hiciste o es algun programa??

  • what scales are you using?

  • when did you start playing on guitar ??

  • really nice play!

but turn down the overdrive, that tone is just grating

  • that is probably the best guitar jam ive ever heard i like the key and ur chord structure major props man!!!

  • good song

  • do u mind if i use abit of this

  • Great job man. I enjoyed it.

  • Really nice!!

  • Can I have the backing track please? By the way, great impro ;).

  • more jazz than funk love it tho

  • 0:36 to 1:05 chords??? please

  • Tough.

  • this is quite a tasty jam sir... i found it quite inspiring thank you

  • sexy

  • Still no stubble Fran?

  • obviously rehearsed!

  • @00427712 as it says in the vid description, i came up with the chorus thing just before recording, the rest, is not.

  • sorry boss, but did you make the backing track yourself? i was looking for some good classical funk jam tracks, just wondering!

    safe!

  • amazing flow

  • very goooood, but take a look at the bendings ;)

  • brilliant total genius

  • Tasty playing!

  • i just wanna chuck away my guitar tbh

  • WE WANT TABS...WE WANT TABS

  • @mralexander6661 The chorus is simple. I cant remember what they are called but he is playing the root then playing two strings and two frets down on the same note and muting the other strings, more commonly used in bass... Rollercoaster of love utilizes it

  • @HumpDeBump100 It's called octaves, hope this helps

  • @mralexander6661 The whole video is pointed right at his fret board. You can probably make the tabs yourself just as easily as he can.

  • @Gyozomroka I like you.

  • @mralexander6661 duude, why not learning by ear? You can even see what he is playing in this video. In the long run, you will not learn to improvise by tabs.

I do not understand why so many people use tabs..

  • @akkabakka123 agree.

  • @akkabakka123 Bit of a silly view isnt it, impro not a skill al begginers have. The way I learnt to do some really cool impro was to just learn loads of tabs, and after a while a realised with a mix of scales, chords and techniques I remeber picking up from the tabs lead to me being able to impro easily.

  • @akkabakka123 i agree i learn songs by ear but sometimes look up tabs to see if i might be right or close

  • @akkabakka123 Cause it's the easy way out

  • Awesome, love the funk.

  • you are good !

  • good stuff yo

  • what song is this?

  • YOU'RE A NOOB - I CAN PLAY THIS ON EXPERT MODE ON GUITAR HERO. BTW YOU'RE ONLY A GOOD GUITARIST IF YOU JUST SHRED NON STOP ON AN IBANEZ.

    jokes, love the video x

  • Kudos!

  • After recording an album i'm on, I'll try to learn this style listening to it, you sound awesome =)

  • Wicked funky house jamming. Proper.

  • 7 people didn't reach the video they wanted :)

  • sounds like a track in a game =3

  • Somehow you remind santana.. Because you play some cool licks like he does..

  • I think you should start a band if you can just wake up one morning and play a song like that. Also, what kind of amp and petals did you use? Keep rockin' !

  • awesome!!! :o but what does it have to do with the red hot chili peppers and dani california? :p

  • OMG, that's amazing!! Keep rocking!!!

  • ZOMG!!!!!!! TABS MY KIND SIR?

  • ive learned that a little "medication" helps with my improvs haha good jam man

  • whats the difference between funk and funk rock??

  • One of the best, I'm putting this as my #1 traveling music and I travel a lot

  • Very nice and a great build up. Too many young players these days start fast and finish fast and nothing changes inbetween.

  • tight!

  • Dude that was awesome .. What strings do you use? o.o

  • you should be proud of your self....nice tone nice precision... cool over all ...

    you are going to hollywood

  • you should be proud of your self....nice tone nice precision... cool over all ...

  • you should be proud of your self....nice tone nice precision... cool over all ...

  • any info 'bout you gear? You have really bloody chaffy tone! I want one! =) Tell us your secret please =)

  • yea would u mind giving me an idea of where i can get some back tracking stuff? or did u make it? if u did let me know which gear u use.

  • I've literally listend to this on my way to school for the past week lol, needless to say you did an awesome job!

Mind me asking where you got the backtracking from?

  • I love this so much funky!!!

  • Very nice man I can dig it :)

  • Amazing!

  • You are fast with those octave chords! Really awesome! But on some parts maybe a bit less distortion. I'm don't really know i don't listen to funk but i know it with no dist. or maybe a very little bit. But really amazing playing!

  • Can anybody here point me toward a good funk guitar band?

  • @joeyrotten101 Red Hot Chili Peppers?

  • @joeyrotten101 Red hot chilli peppers used to do a lot of funk guitar and bass. I'd also recommend Bootsy collins, his bass lines are amazingly funky.

  • WHY WOULD SOMEONE POSSIBLY DISLIKE THIS!?!?!

  • hello mi friend! i have a question for yourself, as I can to build a base as your's when you put together? that programs need to sound the musical base in the background? please answer me thanks

  • Very Jamiroquai-y. I like

  • wow sounds like something from a SEGA game! AWESOME!

  • were you using any certain arpeggios or scales for this

    ?

  • i realy love funk rock!

  • kinda reminds me of weather channel ask john mayer and joe satriani to make their music. sorry if u don't like me comparing you to those players. that's what i thought of though

  • @NathanMantle Who's just talking old school ..?

It's cool U like the way he's playing with the tone he's using ..

But as a full-time funk/jazz musician who makes his living playing styles like this ... If you play funk rhythms with this kind of overdrivien U won't get hired much if at all ...

Unless you play with rock guys are lead UR own band ...

Just telling it like it is ... I never said the kid couldn't play well..

He can ... it wasn't meant to be any kind of cut down

  • dude amazing

  • Is it in A Dorian as well? If so that's what I made out of it.

  • What back track are you using?

And where would I get good funk tracks to improv and play over?

  • Awesome :)

  • Nice octave trick! Got to try that too!

  • Sounds great man.

  • Good for a boss theme

  • @Mike77154 more like a character theme. Otherwise, awesome. Made my day.

  • @Jadandlud Cool for Mike V. from Glam Fighter or Iori Yagami

  • chic!!!!

  • hi dude freaking awesome guitar playing :D! What guitar pick do you use?

  • Awesome :) wish I could play that well

  • Onlyhuman you're a fucking tard. He doesn't use any power chords and he's not just sticking to pentatonics. I think it's really sexy.
