Why so many people don't like the storyline where Daphne gets fat to cover her pregnancy? I think it's brilliant! Especially after her overeating was so wonderfully explained when she returned from the spa... A deep bow to the screenplay writers

I'm an actor too, maybe not famous by any means but she, like any actor is paid good money to pretend to be someone they aren't, she's playing a role, her character is NOT pregnant nor would have been at this point so they had to find ways to incorporate her body without impregnating the character and put its storyline way further ahead. It happens, she obviously had a good attitude about it or else there'd be no Daphne. Enjoy it for what it is.
I feel apalled at the way they treat Roz....... I know it's just a show, but still, Roz is manhandled like a rag doll. I guess if you're good friends you feel less formal with a woman? Any comments?

Yes, she WAS pregnant, but I heard Jane Leeves say somewhere in an interview that they also put a fat suit on her to make her look more "fat" and less "pregnant".
I don't think it was a super huge fat suit in any case.
Personally I think the "getting fat" storyline didn't really fit, they had to deal with her real-life pregnancy somehow, so it couldn't be helped. It's still a great show. :)
@zarcon42 She was pregnant in real life during season 8. They sugested she got pregnant in the last episode of season 7 (when everyone was saying she got pregnant and she was denying it). That was the team's way to make the big announcement to the fans.
@potocatepetl and one of the most unique ways to include an actress' real life pregnancy in a story line...I don't know of any other show that used the idea of 'stress-eating' as a continuing story arc...they used it for one episode for Grey's Anatomy to 'explain' Chyler Leigh's pregnancy weight gain, but it wasn't used the same way that Jane Leeves was here
@cazia9 When Ellen Pompeo was pregnant - they had her bed ridden for most of the season after donating part of her liver to her dad - but you are right - Daphne's stress eating is the most creative way they handled this

@KevariGrazyInarista pardon me, but i think that skinny girls are not that is all cracked up to be.and we are originally fa's [fat admirers] but the sick and twisted mind that is of the media consumerist culture "brainwash" us to think that twigs are attractive,to quote one of frank zappa's songs MUFFIN MAN i for one care less for that [the song had a different meaning] but still dont go and copping out on us because you cant get enough woman and admit that it is a sociably acceptable fetish.meh
@olb852 trust me - i have someone like niles - its very hard for me to keep myself in check because he loves me no matter what weight i am at - have slimmed down now but i became huge about 6 months ago and he didnt care - it's both a blessing and a curse
