The english translations of this song are both powerful and creepy at the same time! This song is kinda wierd in a good way you know? I've always liked different music like this! :D
@roxy567 I never understand why they laugh at that part either, I just saw the show yesterday again and they still laughed. They probably don't understand the tears
@feliciadiaz12 Same I saw it last week and people laughed... I guess for them it's some sort of comic relief but I didn't think it was funny at all... In fact I thought it was beautiful how they portrayed it.

Whoever was playing Rafiki in December on Broadway SLAYED this solo. She was astounding. I was completely moved. The rest of the production was ridiculously amateur compared to this solo.
have you seen the stage production? this moment transitions into scar's eulogy for mufasa and simba and the "be prepared" reprise which, sadly, isn't included on the recording. the ominous swelling of strings substitutes.
i know what you mean. actually, when i heared that part i kinda wanted to either burst out crying, or burst out laughing. or maybe both... i don't know!!! It was just kinda weird...

though it is true like treemeadow said
actually rafiki's female on the broadway production because the director felt there needed to be a strong female role in the story

I remember this scene when the lionesses' cry, and their tears are febric, does anybody else remember this?
r0xy567 1 year ago 4
@r0xy567 yea i just watched it in my country.
oddly, the entire audience laughed at this part when the fabric sprang from their eyes.
i can't explain why it's funny but it's some sort of a cultural thing i guess
