Whoever was playing Rafiki in December on Broadway SLAYED this solo. She was astounding. I was completely moved. The rest of the production was ridiculously amateur compared to this solo.

have you seen the stage production? this moment transitions into scar's eulogy for mufasa and simba and the "be prepared" reprise which, sadly, isn't included on the recording.  the ominous swelling of strings substitutes.
