libertarianism is almost all of the way to the right. At least on the left/right spectrum. Its almost anarchy but we still want the rule of law with absence of force
Ron Paul is a Republican, but he fights for our personal liberty and freedom, also believes in a balanced budget, and also believes in actually following the constitution as intended. Ron Paul brings some integrity, consistency and honest truth that is rarely seen in representatives. He raised huge amounts of funding not from special interests but from the grassroots, from the people! Please help campaign for liberty, who fights special interests for the good of the people?! Ron Paul!!!
Lol @ "Ron Paul is catching on with the public." The guy's campaign was a horrible failure. BTW, Gore FAG, Ron Paul is FAR to the right. Just because he opposes the war in Iraq doesn't disqualify him from being a far right-winger.
recognizing the inherent dignity of our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters as they struggle for equal rights granted to them under the constitution requires the ability to think critically and empathize. you are on the wrong side of history, friend.
btw ...stop lying , gays are not protected under the constitution ...get your facts straight before you open your mouth and prove how much of a brainwashed fool you are
Howdy! I tell you what, Gore Vidal tells it a like it is. I seen his document on the presidents on the PBS way back when. It was great. I suggest it to y'all. All the best, Judd Jugmonger (jugmonger videos)
I'm absolutely NOT a Ron Paul supporter, but what happened to him and the other candidates in Iowa and then in New Hampshire screams the message that the way we conduct our primaries is in desperate need of reworking.
How can these two states wield such undue influence upon our nation and no one objects? If people don't like the way things have gone in recent years as per our presidents, look to Iowa and N. H. for apologies! End their preeminence NOW!
(One Day Ammount) / (1% of the People) = Ammount spent per Person
1. So if we suggest that 0,5% of Ron Paul supporters spend Money, we will find that it's about 2Dollar x 200= 400Dollar/Person
2. Thats too much, so we will include, that Ron Paul was also supportet by military Organisations and other big companys / Which we give the role of 1/4 of the ammount/spend.
SO: (6 000 000 x 3/4) / (300 000 000/100) * 200 = 300Dollar/Person
You math is calculated on the assumption that every citezen of the US population voted. So 1% of rougly 300M would be 300K. However, this 1% should be based on the total number of votes. Lets say 120M total votes cast in 2008 (rough guess aafter searching for 2 minutes) this would equate to 6M / 120K = $50/pp or by using your second formula, 4.5M / 120K * 200 = 7.5K
bastop - how many supporters did Obama have? Including the corporations? Why didn't he recieve that much in one day? Did you know that the Paul campaign did not organize the fundraiser?
The issue Vidal raises is not the total money - it's the amount raised in a single day, by a grassroots movement without an advertising budget, without TV ads, etc.
@Stevemc :Absolutely! But I wouldn't exculde the possibillty, that the ammounts raised, on those well known days, were pushed a little bit by the big ones (1/4 is just a guess by me, perhaps thats totally wrong)
@jvittetoe: You're right, not everybody votes! But there's a mistake in your calculation: It's not 120M of total voters. It's 1200M: That makes a total of
750Dollar/Person!
But how many people spend money for the campain during that foundraising? I think, that's the biggest issue! Because the 0,5% of Ron Paul voters were a guess made by me! Can anybody find that out?
A good value would be 5%-10%! That would mean: about 35$-70$/Person which would be an ammount, we could think of! I can't think of that 1 of 10 Ron Paul supporters spent money for the campain? Do you?
Ron's gonna win Iowa! It's gonna be greattt!

Sort of; he's mostly libertarian, but he manages to attract plenty of conservatives as well.

Just to reiterate - Gore Vidal asked the question:
"How does a guy who can raise $6m in one day only have 1% of the vote?"

So that's quite a lot! So we must suggest, that more money was given to him by other big companys and intrest groups.
Also the suggestion that 0,5% of voters spend money and that 1% of the population voted for ron Paul could both be not exact.
